  1. BTW: At no point did I feel unsafe in Mexico In Piedra Negras. They really take good care of you! Dr. Alvarez personally emails you for weeks after the surgery and will answer any personal emails anytime you have questions. You would be singing his praises!
  2. I went to Dr. Alvarez and he and his staff were wonderful! This was the easiest pain recovery from any surgery I have had...no gas pain. Let me know if you have any questions!
  3. I hate that! It is cheaper now with the availability of a generic version. I hope you feel better soon!
  4. As of yesterday, I am now medication free of my blood pressure medications! I guess my doctor was wrong about that last pill! My blood pressure dipped really low this weekend on that last pill and we had to drop it. I couldn't be more excited and already feel more energetic today without it! Those pills can really drag you down and make it even more difficult to do the things you need to do to be healthy!
  5. Thank you so much! It is a great feeling! More than looks or clothes or anything else, I was worried about my health and heart. My father died after having his third heart attack almost four years ago. I owe it to my family and myself to take care of myself!
  6. I am a little over four weeks out of surgery and I am down 33 pounds, which is great! Even better, I am down to 1 blood pressure pill a day. I was on four prior to surgery! My blood pressure on this one pill is perfect! I really think I will be medication free soon! I really didn't think I would get this healthy so fast. what a great feeling!
  7. If this continues, I will look into taking that! Thanks
  8. I had my surgery done 4/2/2013 and I have been having restless legs AND arms. YES, it is driving me crazy and I have been trying to google and figure out what it is. If you figure it out, please post!
  9. Thank you so much for sharing. It is hard on any day to be a teacher. But this is just over the top! I am staying positive knowing this is temporary!
  10. Thank you so much for the encouragement and for sharing your experience. I do think puréed foods would help! I also had a hiatal hernia repair on the same day, so I am recovering from two surgeries . Good luck to you too! We have very different t jobs but we both have to be energetic and thinking clearly!
  11. See I can't even spell phase and I am a teacher!
  12. I am a teacher and this is my first day back to work after I was sleeved Eight days ago. I feel sweaty and dizzy. Tomorrow I move on to the full liquids faze. Will I feel much better when I move out of clear liquids? I know my bp is dropping, which is good because I have been on three Meds for it. I just need to know when it gets easier!
  13. Thank you ChristieK. I am actually excited that this day is here!
  14. It helps so much to relate to people in te same boat. Today is day 1 now of my 10 day pre op all liquid diet. I actually mixed my Atkins advantage shake with a cup of coffee and made it cold using a cocktail shaker lol. I don't want to deal with sugar withdrawal and caffeine withdrawal at the same time. I am used to drinking diet coke not coffee, so this will have to suffice!
  15. I plan to! . I told my husband I want frozen margaritas! I am not drinking the skinny girl margaritas I usually would drrink on special occasions. You really did luck out! The hardest part of the ten days will be going to a 3 day out-of-town work conference where I will be going out with colleagues for meals (and I will be enjoying my shake). I also have my nephews birthday party tomorrow at a Chinese restaurant. I haven't even mentioned the family Easter weekend at a bed and breakfast. This too shall pass!
  16. Tomorrow will be the first day of my 10 day pre-op diet. You are right...gotta do it! I don't get sleeved until April 2. Ten days on these liquids just seems like forever, but I will do it!
  17. How do I keep myself from eating everything I see? I feel like I will never eat again? Lol. Did anyone else experience this right before?
  18. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/1580054463/ref=redir_mdp_mobile Click on this link for a great book that has been features recently in People magazine! The book is called "Stranger Here: How Weight Loss Surgery Transformed My Body and Messed With My Head". She had the duodenal switch but anyone considering WLS should read this. Has anyone else read it too?
  19. You look so young, pretty, and happy!
  20. There are few PERSONAL things in our lives that are so visible to everyone we are know. I am an outgoing person, but like to leave certain things in my life private. I am glad I am not the only one who feels that way. On the other hand, I am a great believer in the fact that what you go through can help someone else. I have already talked to one of my best friends about what I am doing and she is looking into it for herself. I am so happy that we have a forum in which what people share about their own lives helps others.
  21. I have only told a few people, mostly family. I guess I am just bracing myself for the comments after I lose the weight from people who don't know. I guess most compliments are meant to be nice, but they can hurt some.
  22. Btw...my blood pressure and overall health is pushing me to do this...not looks (I am sure that was true of most of you)! I just want to be there for my family!
  23. I am pre-op with a surgery date Easter week. I have only told a few people about this but it amazes me how many people have opinions about MY weight and knowing that I am going to lose it makes them more honest about it. I am overweight at 5'5 and 250 pounds, but I never realized the negativity extent about it until now. I guess I am bracing for the compliments that I will be receiving post surgery because it shows how I was looked at with the weight on. I will always be that girl that had the weight problem...and I want to protect her. Does that make sense? Maybe not!
  24. That is my surgery date, too! :) I am really excited, too. I can't wait to have this behind me! Good luck to you too!
