Surgery on monday! Any last minute advice?
My only piece of advice is drink as much as you can the day before surgery. When you get out the cotton mouth is awful and the waiting time before having anything makes it so much worse.

How much food
I'm still on all liquid post- phase but the rule of thumb they told me is never more than 4 oz / 1/2 cup at a meal. Right now it's hard to get all that liquid protein in with the water but I'm trying!

Did you have a catheter ?
They prepped my catheter when I was already under so didn't feel a thing. It's a little awkward afterwards when it comes out but it's painless.

Protein shakes
I am not sure what brand the hospital gave me ... it was Caramel flavored (Caramel or Strawberry). I have premier protein at home and I couldn't stomach it until today. I can mix skim or 1% milk in with things (low fat cream of chicken soup, home made protein shakes, etc) but dairy also didn't sit well until today.

Worries about my surgery and life changes that need to be made.
I understand your feelings. This preop diet is a true test when you are living with young kids and a husband that doesn't cook. Your concerns sound very normal to me. I'm already trying to find something else that will comfort me outside of food. I was told to stop drinking 15 mins prior and wait for 30 mins after. There is a fantastic book to read: The Experts Guide to WeightLoss Surgery by Garth Davis. I've read it about 3 times already.

The truth is....
I haven't had surgery yet but I was just telling the psychologist the same thing. I know I'm fat but I don't feel fat until I see a mirror or pictures.

Help with requirements (Aetna)
I met with the psychologist as well. I had to go in and take a 2 hour test (took me just over an hour) and then meet with him face to face. If it weren't for our patient coordinator I wouldn't even know where to start.

Help with requirements (Aetna)
Our office offers a weight management program and so that counts as the behavior modification because a nutrionist leads it. I have to go to one class a month and have monthly weigh ins. The classes range from emotional eating to reading labels, etc. I also have to do a food log and exercise log weekly for her.

Sleeve or Bypass
Have they done an EGD yet to check on the heartburn? The sleeve is suppose to make heartburn worse. I think the PP summed it all up!

Sleep Study Appt.
I did my sleep study last week. The goop left in your hair is oh-so-lovely, haha. I didn't feel like I slept at all but apparently I did.

Liquid Diet and Pre Op Weight Loss
My understanding is that a liquid diet is required pre surgery to shrink the liver some. I will be on one for 2 weeks
