  1. I haven't been on here in quite some time but got on today looking for some eating before running thoughts. This is great! I'm typically running right after work and often just feel sluggish and like my feet are heavy. My Water intake is pretty good but I think my nutrition is lacking something. I'm actually wondering if I'm lacking the right carbs. One of my biggest issues is finding the time in my afternoon to have a snack with the right timing before the run. I am seeing patients all afternoon so if I get a Protein bar or string cheese in I'm doing well. I'd like to try the oatmeal but I'm just not sure I have time to do that well enough in advance of the run. Any suggestions for pre run Snacks that I can eat like a half hour before running. I'm allergic to apples but most anything else is fair game. Thanks!
  2. My plan had me drinking carnation instant breakfast (sugar free) with 2% milk and that was much more tolerable than most protein shakes. I'd add a tablespoon of protein powder to increase the protein but it didn't mess up the taste. I also drank slim fast 321 shakes which I liked more than the standard protein drinks.
  3. I was getting a lot of lightheadedness too. My doc thought it was from dehydration. I started carrying a water bottle (and using it! Lol) while running and it seems to have helped. I don't get so light headed.
  4. I just can't even imagine eating that many calories again...but I'm only 8 wks out. I was in the typical stall around 2-3 weeks, upped my calories and started losing again. I'm working on pushing toward 1200 now. But it's hard!
  5. Refried beans with cheese melted on top was my fav!
  6. Is it room spinning or shifting? Does it happen with certain movements it changes in position? I evaluate balance patients (dizziness/vertigo). What you're describing-dizzy, fainting doesn't sound like vertigo but something else. Maybe low blood sugar, low blood pressure, even dehydration. I'd get to a doctor. I had some dizziness about 4-6 wks post op and was told it was from dehydration. I've worked hard at increasing my fluids and am feeling much better now. That being said, I'd still get in to a doctor!
  7. Love this thread! I'd like to be comfortable in my skin. Run a 10k and maybe a half marathon. Run an 8 min mile even if I can only do it once! Fit comfortably in all chairs/seats, etc Snag a hubby!
  8. This is just so sad. Rest in peace, Fred.
  9. This is my favorite part of the journey too! I love finding "new" clothes in my closet!
  10. I'm betsyann07 on mfp as well. Please add me! I need some accountability and food ideas. Thanks!
  11. Sleeved 1/23 and down 23 lbs since survey; 32 including pre-op. Sometimes I wish that I would lose as fast as others on here but I'm feel great and my weight is going down so I am happy!
  12. I'm 6 weeks out today and down 23 lbs since day if surgery and 32 when counting my pre-op loss. Feeling better and better every day!
  13. Awesome! I'm almost 5 weeks out and am also quite happy. It has been harder than I thought in some respects but 20 lbs down and feeling better in my clothes sure helps! Congrats to you!!
  14. It is a great feeling and I am excited for all of you to get to that point! Now the problem is how will I afford the clothes!! Lol
  15. I went to the store today to see if I could find some new pants because my pre-surgery work pants are too big. I tried on one size smaller and they were too big! I am down 2 sizes!!! I couldn't believe it. I was sleeved 1/23/13. Lost 13 lbs in the first 2 weeks then stalled for about a week and a half. I weighed this morning and was down 4 lbs total from last week. That's 17 lbs since surgery and 27 total. This week has been hard-my head hunger is yelling at me to eat a lot of crap but the shopping trip really helped me to refocus because this is working!
  16. I was wondering this exact thing today! I actually sent a message to my NUT about it. It's amazing how much I can eat varies so much depending on what the food is.
  17. I'm four weeks out on Wednesday and I have trouble getting all my water in. Flavored water seems better as does tea or broth. I just feel like I don't have enough hours in the day to get it all in with all the stopping and starting before and after meals. I got about 40 oz in today which was a good day!
  18. Good call on splitting them in half. Maybe I'll try that!
  19. I was allowed decaf at my 2 week check. I was disappointed when I finally had it because it didn't taste as good as it used to. :/
  20. I also agree with the smells. The other day I added some unjury unflavored Protein to soup and the smell was making me sick. I got it all mixed in, took a bite and gagged violently. It tasted like it smelled. Nasty! I also tried the opurity Vitamins and they taste so bad mostly cause they smell bad. Just thinking about taking them makes me sick. Ugh! What a strange journey this is!
  21. Me too. Mine feels thinner and it's really dry. :/
  22. I was sleeved 1/23. I lost 13 lbs in the first two weeks and nothing since. I know the stall is normal so I'm not super worried. I've also had a hard time getting all my protein and water in. It's been better the last two days and I'm now on soft foods! I'm betsyann07 on my fitness pal. I can't figure out how to find people on my app. Lol
  23. I could only tolerate Popsicles, frozen protein shakes or warm broth. Anything in between hurt. Also, once I started adding flavor to water it seemed to go down better. Good luck! This too shall pass.
  24. I LOVE guac! I cannot wait to make this!
  25. I was sleeved on 1/23/13 and for the last few days I've been having some severe pains in my left breast. It doesn't bother me too much when I'm wearing a bra but when I'm not I get these sharp pains. I'm thinking it's probably not related to surgery but just thought I'd ask if anyone has experienced this-just in case I'm not alone. Thanks! -Betsy
