  1. Yeah, I'm with Penni, this isn't right. what happened to "do no harm." I would definately be calling Inamed and possibly start malpractice proceedings. I don't know if it is criminal to do something like to someone, but it is sure unethical. You deserve the best treatment, and that ain't it.

Sounds coolio! I'll see what i can find. Not too many pix of me, but we all ready know all about that...
  3. Oh no!!!!! I'm sooo sorry you had such a yucky time of it! Yes, cold pizza tops are weird, I got stuck horribly on one. {{{{{{{{{{{{{HUGGS!!!}}}}}}}}}}}}}}
  4. Oh yes, you are doing it all wrong. You should be in agonizing pain, and puking your guts out. Wait, that can't be right, oh yeah, YOU ARE DOING GREAT!!!! This is what it "should" be like. I'm so sorry you are expecting the very worst. Of course you are getting a little tired, you just had major surgery. MAJOR SURGERY, not a hang-nail removed. One thing I notice is that many of us equate "full" with that horrible over-stuffed feeling, instead of being satisifed with what we've eaten. It sounds to me like you are satisfied and content with what your body is telling you, right? I eat cheese burgers on occasion, even pizza. Not an entire pizza anymore mind you, and not a giant mondo burger the size of a dinner plate. I eat a sensible sized amount of food. Why do you expect the worst when everything is going great? BE KIND TO YOUR SELF!
  5. Looks okay by me. Life after the band looks nothing like this, expect... well, the water and the SF jello and the popscicles and the tracking stuff... And just who the hell give this nurse the power to declare you a failure? Uhm hello! Kick her to the curb. The Band is NOT A DIET. It is a lifestyle, and as far as I know, you it's the way you live your life, not die-t
  6. oh... I hadn't even considered my music as a collection. I currently have over 3500 music tracks on my dell juke box, all from CDs I own.

What do you collect? And what do poeple think you collect, but you don't really? I love old cookbooks, especially historical cookbooks. My DH just bought me a cookbook with of 15th century English & French cooking. I collect old books in general, Star Trek action figures, Micro Machine spaceships, blue glass and odd kitchen equipment. (I own two vegimatics...) My mother-in-law gives me shot glasses from all the different places she visits. Blue glass shot glasses...
  8. My ex was in the Gulf War I, arts & crafts are very important... When I was first dating my new and improved husband he knew it was true love when he discovered I had more and better camping equipment than he did... I am a full time college student, and my son is a full time college student. I'm an avid video game player
  9. Hi Mary, me again. One thing that sort of sticks with me is the "back to square one." I'm not sure what you mean by that. For me, when some one says that, it implies in my mind that they have lost all that they gained, that they made no progress at all. How do you "know" you could have done "better?" How do you know that you wouldn't be one of our slow loosers? I think you're already ahead of the 1-2 pounds that most of us loose. You are doing GREAT! "Any other diet..." Are you viewing your band as a diet? Why are you having a hard time being proud of your awesome, awe-some accomplishment? You should be doing Jenna's patented "booty shaking dance!"
  10. what a relief! I'm so glad to hear the news!
  11. Don't stand up while driving. That, I think everyone can agree on. Just don't do it. Why can't you imagine your BP is low? I tend to the low BP side of things. (Always very funny when a new nurse takes my BP ... They always go and get a different cuff when mine comes back low. The expression on their face... priceless. A fat middle aged woman with low BP??? unheard of!) I have the same sort of thing going on, even to the point where I sometimes fall. The tests show nothing, so obviously, there isn't any problem... I find it is very important to make sure I drink more Water than I think I need. Good luck!
  12. hey Lady Gaynor, The general rule for pills is that they need to be smaller than a pencil errasers. (or for our UK friends such as yourself, smaller than a rubber.) (you DO know what Americans call "rubbers" right? ...{laughing} I find that it is easier for my meds if I take them with milk as opposed to Water. It also adds a buffer incase the pills are going to be ... difficult
  13. some people have restriction from the word go, others have no restriction until they get their first or even second fill. But no worries, no one who gets the band is in any danger of death by starvation. There is absolutely no indication that death by starvation is one of the possible complications.
  14. try frozen juice bars, or something similar. Many of us find that really cold things help tighten our bands. Hang in there, tomorrow is thicker soup day!
  15. Sorry Mary you have had such a rough time of it. I havent' had any of your same experiences. However, I've had different crap to deal with. The week after I was banded I got my period. The period from hell. It didn't stop even after the D&C. It didn't stop after the months of BC pills. It only stopped a month ago because they put me on depo prevera. I had an overian cyst rupture, and that was worse pain than child birth. I'm still recovering from the uterine ablation and laparotomy I had done last week. They had to removed the damage from the cyst and discovered that I had several cysts that haddn't ruptured. I still haven't had a "typical" banding experience because my hormones are all over the flipping road.
  16. hey Donna, Sally has the 11cc Vangard band--The Big Band. So 4 ccs in the big band doesn't even come close to 1/2 way. Hope that clears that up.
  17. Ajack, I broilled a couple of nice steaks for dinner last night. Of course, One steak would have been enough for DH and me... but leftover steak salad is quite yummy.... There might be something you won't eat again, but then again, there might not be. I don't eat fried egg sandwiches anymore. Not because I can't tolerate the sandwich, but because part of the whole fried egg sandwich is the glass of milk that goes along with the sandwich. I really work at not eating and drinking. So... it's not that I can't have the sandwich, I choose not to have it.
  18. wA-HOOO! watch it on the "pigging out" and try to not get into the "last meal" syndrom.... You will be able to eat again!
  19. I just haven't got the patience to spend time like that on my hair everyday. Hell, I don't even have the patience half the time to put on simple eye make-up! Of course, that is why you look F-A-B and I look F-R-U-M-P
  20. Star, do not worry about the days ahead. Your only concern is to heal, and any weight loss is bonus, not goal. I gained 5 pounds before I got my fill. Be kind to yourself!
  21. I believe you are all making this up. "Favorite clothing stores?" As if. Enjoy going shopping? As if. I cannot imaging clothes shopping as a "favorite" anything.
  22. My niece did the running start so that she graduated High School and got her AA degree at the same time. I wish that had been an option for me. Of course, my son chose to not take advantage of that program. I think it is wonderful if you can do it. Jodie, don't worry about your HS grades if you are doing something like the Running Start program. the college credit superceed the HS ones. It might have served you better to start out by telling us that you were in a chair. That might have given us a better picture. Of course, it is a case of live and learn. Alex is right, you might want to look at the other types of proceedures available. The Band is not for everyone, and if your really need to drop weight fast, well... Slow and Steady is by definition "not fast." Usually when people think of breathing problems they are thinking of asthma or emphsema and not sleep apnea. I sure think of sleep apnea as a sleeping thing and not a breathing thing. Of course, before I had the band I was facing resperatory failure, so I think of breathing problems in different terms than most. I hardly think that someone saying "only 240" takes much audacity, especially when some of us cannot quite imaging being that small. My husband started his journey at 600 pounds, and cannot imagine being 300 pounds. Some of us have difficulty grasping the whole "why would someone with a 'low' BMI under go something as drastic as WLS." I know I'm one of those people. You can count me as someone you "know" got a scholarship after taking time. I'm 43, and I have a full ride scholarship. Tuition, books, room and board, stipend, supplies, and a laptop. I was almost 300 pounds when I returned to school. But Jodie, honey, just because a phrase is accpetable where you live doesn't mean it is acceptable in other places. We do not have the right to hurt other people.
  23. maybe that's the point! She's not using it and this is Vera's subtle way of showing off that she's getting some
  24. soooo, who starts?
