  1. tehehehe I think I would be shy about it too, but I almost dont care. I failed with a lapband and I do NOT want to be looking into revisions with this surgery because I pushed it all the time like the last go around. Sadly, even though its sort of OCD... I think I might need it.
  2. lol no, but it's sort of my nature.

I have not but I have a feeling I could do it easily if I didn't care to do what I'm supposed too.
  4. I am a rule follower for the most part. My food choices are not always perfect but I always stick to my measurements and I think since surgery 30ish days ago I have maybe had one day that I was actually significantly over my calorie goal of 800. Am I being obsessive for considering purchasing a pocket scale to keep in my purse for weighing food? They run anywhere from 8 to 20ish dollars and they usually come in a protective case. I seem to be losing weight on the slower side but there is a huge part of me that feels like if I always stick to my 3 or 4oz servings I will eventually get to goal. I am on the go a lot though, I am a nurse (currently inbetween jobs but that should not last long), a grad student, and I visit my out of town parents pretty often, so I do a lot of eating outside the home, and I am not always carting around my own food like a weirdo. This is what I have in mind These are generally considered low capacity but even at 600 grams, thats over 20 ounces, which is more than I would ever care about. Is this taking things too far or am I correct in thinking it is a sensible thing for someone on the go to own.
  5. That is probably the same reason that certain spots on the floor may cause a person to have lower readings. If the floor is not level your weigh in will not be as accurate but you can still see trends. I just try not to move my scale a whole bunch.
  6. I wouldn't really recommend people use a laxative unless they really need it because it can turn into bulimia and take it from me as a nurse - you do not want to be someone who has become laxative dependent if you can help it. Your bowels lose their own motility if you constantly are taking things to force them to move.
  7. I am removing this post as it has unintentionally caused a ruckus.
  8. my bladder was not back to normal for about a week and a half, but I ended up with a UTI because of it, so I would talk to someone.
  9. For some reason tomato soup does this to me too. I am on solid foods and can eat salad but for some reason that stinking tomato soup makes me feel barfy even though it tastes so good.
  10. If you are going to get chewables please at least purchase chewables for adults, not Flintstones Personally, I take gummies, my surgeon says they are fine and unless blood work comes back questionable they seem to be the type of Vitamins that people keep up with taking.
  11. I too, log my lowest weight, I do not feel the need to move my ticker back and forth if I fluctuate up a pound or two. I am guilty of using a laxative before weigh in's because I am still newly sleeved and very irregular and that makes a huge difference in the accuracy of my weigh in I have a bottle of furosemide and I am not afraid to use it! If you can't tell I have a disposition to hang on to things so sometimes I have to do a little extra to get things moving. Don't know why.
  12. Xath101, I don't chew and spit. I dont get judgey about it but for me it feels like disordered behavior.
  13. The only thing that made me feel better was to sleep more. I know not everyone can do that, but if you can catch a nap or get to bed early you should.
  14. I think that so much of what we do here to change ourselves has less to do with what goes on and more to do with how we react, and how we proceed. I think it was Aristotle that said we are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit. Obviously, that one cup of food is not going to make or break you, what matters here is if you pick yourself up and start clean tomorrow or not. There is no magic wand to wave for a clean start, you just... proceed.
  15. I drink a TON of tea. I go through those boxes of 100 tea bags in a matter of 2 months - those last a lot of people an entire year. I basically brew about 12 cups at a time using 2 bags in a clean coffee pot and then pour that into a pitcher and chill it in the fridge. When I am ready for some I put one packet of sweet and low in a glass and a few squirts of lime juice and then fill the cup up the rest of the way with the tea. I drink that almost nonstop.
  16. would suggest doing everything you can do to shut that down as soon as it springs to mind. I used methods like when I would think about something (I really wanted Red Robin's crispy chicken sandwich) and think about how much having all of that was really self abuse and that is how I got to be so heavy. It takes the shine off our favorite things when you put it into perspective.
  17. trolling means different things to different people, but for me, a troll can be anything from someone who comes by and posts deliberately stupid things just to sit back and watch what unfolds, to people posting excessively off topic replys or even new threads I guess. Anything that causes needless disruption or distraction I guess.
  18. You dont need a lot. Get a digital scale and take a change of clothes to the hospital. All other nonfood items are extraneous, except for maybe a pillow, which I am certain you already have.
  19. Whats the question? No one can tell you if you are covered or not, you have to call YOUR insurance company with YOUR plan number to discuss the benefits about YOUR plan, through YOUR employer.
  20. I want to hand you an award. Many times I want to make posts about using google and the search funtion before asking really simple questions but I always hesitate. I think the use of that meme was PERFECT. I feel bad but I wont even look at hair loss posts anymore or anything asking about "who has XYZ insurance" or "how much money does it cost blah blah blah" all of that stuff has been covered ad nauseum and questions about insurance companies rely totally on your own plan so even if you have blue cross and I have blue cross, our coverage will NOT be the same.
  21. Wow - let me say, as a nurse, that is crazy. It also smells of all kinds of legal issues. They sleeved you without having you sign a consent form? Wow. just wow. I had a band too so I am familiar with all that drama, but I had it removed and waited almost 2 years to have surgery again. You can't get your stomach back so I suggest you embrace it wholeheartedly, but I can certainly understand your shock. That would leave my head spinning. Did your husband think that you wanted them to do that?
  22. no underwear during surgery but that does not translate to needing a wax unless that's what you normally do anyway. I shaved but that is my usual choice for grooming. It will be a week or so before you feel like shaving your legs and whatever other business you usually attend to so do it the night before surgery if you are going to.
  23. YEP do NOT go anywhere. Get yourself some good reading material because you will more than likely be setting up shop in the bathroom. Nice TP is also a must. TMI but I was cursing my off brand TP the night I had to do my prep
  24. well, its hard to say, if it happened right after you lifted something its probably just a muscle issue. At a month post op my abdominal are not totally 100% yet and I think you had surgery about a week after I did. If you are worried about it or its not going away it wont hurt to give your office a call
  25. Sorry your scared but its completely normal. You will do great.
