  1. So, I'm not a big lotion person but I've heard that some people have really good luck with stretch marks and skin tightening if they use a specific lotion daily. So that leads me to my question...Does anyone have a magic creme or lotion that helped their skin while recovering? I guess if nothing helped your skin cosmetically do you have any lotion suggestions for super dry and sensitive skin? Any thoughts would be appreciated!
  2. I recently bought another post surgery necessity! I talked to my hair stylist...she's been doing my hair since I was 8 and I love her to death! I told her I was getting surgery and that a side effect was some hair loss, she said it's better to be safe than sorry and had me purchase Bosley Shampoo & Conditioner for hair regrowth and a regrowth treatment for women. I spent $80 and it'll last me about 2 months. I figure, I'll do it until I hit my goal weight then switch back to my normal routine assuming that I don't lose massive amounts of hair. I've been growing my hair out for years with no dye or chemicals so it is not an acceptable side affect for my beautiful curls to thin. I'm nipping it in the bud, I've got it ordered and on it's way and I'm going in tomorrow for a hair cut and she's going to teach me how to use the treatment. I finally talked my mom into making me some homemade chicken broth...yay! So, on tomorrow's shopping list is a whole chicken, carrots, onions, bay leaves, and celery. She'll stew it all with Water in a 3 gallon pot and I'll freeze a crap ton of low sodium low fat (after she scoops it all of the top!) YUMMY chicken broth. GO MOM! My party got cancelled but it's okay, my stress level is high and entertaining a slew of people would have been a bit much. Finals are over! YES! And now I get to chill out for the next few days...yay me .
  3. Wow, your going to be one hot mama!! Are you going to do a lift or tummy tuck? I want to have a child so no plastics for me right away. After I have a baby girl (fingers crossed) in like 10 years then I'll probably consider plastics but in the meantime I'm stuck with what I end up looking like.
  4. There is a thread that rates the Protein shakes from Excellent to Terrible on this forum with a sticky at the top of the Protein Powder page. I love Optimum Gold Standard Mocha Cappuccino, tastes like Starbucks..yum! I have to second nectar as well, the fuzzy naval is what you should go with from them. Get a variety of flavors so you aren't stuck with sicky sweet flavors for 6 weeks. I got 2 sweets (Optimum Mocha Cappuccino & Lean Dessert chocolate Coconut) 1 fruity (Nectar Fuzzy Naval) 1 salty (Unjury Cicken Broth) and 1 unflavored (Unjury Unflavored) to put in Jello and pudding and Soup. Good luck! Oh and you can get them online, I used AllStarHealth.com for everything except my Lean Dessert because they didn't have the chocolate coconut flavor.
  5. It's different for everyone, I was approved in less than 2 weeks. As far as my insurance goes, they only have 30 days to either approve or decline you...so you should know relatively quickly.it sounds like you meet the qualifications so I'd submit and cross your fingers! My process was smooth and painless, others have terrible experiences. I wish you all the best and hope you get approved quickly!
  6. Also, when people say they lost 20 lbs in the first week they are generally counting their pre-op so keep that in mind. So, as far as most people count you've lost 27 lbs your first week and are ahead of the game!
  7. Aww, I'm sorry...that's okay though you still look fabulous! Are you going to look into plastics after you are done? Do you mind me asking how old you are? Just a ball park, I'm gathering loose skin data
  8. Bad enough for plastics or just no bikinis?
  9. Wow! Looking INCREDIBLE! Such a huge transformation, I don't see 57 more pounds but you know your body best. Best of luck to you and I hope I'm that successful!
  10. I did a lot of research, talk to him about all the fills...that's what I have heard is one of the worst parts about the band. Also, some people like it because they think it's reversible. It's not, it's removable but the damage that's done by the band is still there. I'd make sure he knows all of that.
  11. Darn it, that's a troll. At first I was thinking, yes she can probably fit into Ugg boots now. I have 2 pairs that are too tight in the calf and can't wait until my calves shrink down so I can wear them! Congratz on your huge success!!
  12. Oh my goodness, you look fantastic and I saw the weight you started out at. Can I be just like you when I have surgery? 71 pounds in 3 months is INSANE! I'm so so so so jealous! Do you have some magical secret that you can share or are you just one lucky duck?
  13. I am 100% excited. No nerves, but I've had surgery before. I know I tolerate anesthesia well and I know I will be fine. I can't wait to start my journey. I'm completely prepared! I have a post called "My Ongoing Story" in the "Sleeve Story" section of the forum complete with all of my Protein supplements, Vitamins, pictures, etc.
  14. Congratulations! I'm a week out and am super excited. Good luck to you keep us updated!
  15. I'm glad that you got things resolved. I don't work but I'm in a sorority and it's SUPER close knit, everyone knows everything so if I suddenly disappeared for a few days then lost a bunch of weight they would catch on. I told them all at once, they didn't have much to say except for a few people that were extremely supportive then my big sister/roommate who already knew is just super nervous that something is going to go wrong and I'll get hurt. I have these huge chubby cheeks and everyone pinches them all the time so I was threatened that if lose my cheeks they are going to come after me. They gossip like crazy so I'm sure all of greek life knows but it is what it is. I'm doing this for me, if they want to judge then let them. I know this is going to make me happier. I'm just like you though, a terrible liar and if I do lie and someone happens to not catch on (extremely rare) then I feel terrible about it afterwards. No judgement from me, I almost told someone who's opinion I value greatly that I had a thyroid issue and was taking medication to correct it. I just ended up telling her that I'm losing weight and she didn't pry. It's hard to open up about it but I'm sure you feel better now that your boss is on your team! Good luck to you
  16. When you reply click "More Reply Options" next to the "Post" button at the bottom of the window then when the new screen opens if you scroll down there should be a place to "Attach a photo" and then a "Browse" button to find the picture on your computer.
  17. I talk a lot about my boyfriend, here is a picture of us together from a couple months ago. We get laughed at a lot because of our height difference. He is 6'5
  18. Yay! Thank you, I haven't had any children but do have some stretch marks and scars from previous surgeries. That's awesome that your so little without any sagging skin.
  19. Just being completely honest here, I wouldn't have guessed you to be any older than 32. You look FABULOUS! Your body looks amazing and I know girls my age including me who would be insanely jealous. I plan to exercise and have a personal trainer because I want to make sure I do this right and try to avoid plastics. Kudos to you and thank you ever so much for sharing!
  20. There is also Unjury Unflavored protein. They also have a Chicken Broth powder that you mix with warm water to make protein packed chicken both! If you are tired of the sicky sweet protein powder you may try a fruity one...sometimes a different type of flavor will help. The Nectar Fuzzy Naval is pretty awesome. Good luck!
  21. Where are you going shopping? What Protein and Vitamins are you planning on purchasing? If you don't know, you should do a bit of homework first because some of them are NASTY! There's a list of protein powders that rates them from Excellent down to Terrible. It's in food and Nutrition.
  22. That makes me feel SO much better, I was having a mini-panic attack after I saw that girl's blog! You started about 25 pounds lighter than I am starting and our goal weights are very similar along with our heights. I hope I'm as successful as you! Do you have any tricks that helped with the skin? Before plastics you had almost no sagging skin which is my hope for myself. Do you mind me asking how old you are? I'm hoping that since I'm young my skin will "bounce back" somewhat easily.
  23. I'm also on the 19th and have done all my shopping. I got a little bit of everything as far as protein goes. Some sweet (Optimum Gold Mocha Cappuccino and Lean Dessert Chocolate Coconut) a fruity mix (Nectar Fuzzy Naval) a salty mix (Unjury Chicken Broth) and one unflavored mix (Unjury Unflavored) to mix with jello, pudding, soups, etc. I also have lots of Jello for the first week. I bought all my vitamins, most from CelebrateVitamins.com. I'm going to pick up some plain chicken broth (Rachel Ray's Low Sodium), Gas-X Chews and Liquid Tylenol from CVS, I have a lot of low cal, sugar free flavored waters, G2, Vitamin Water, Juice, etc. that I'm going to water down and drink to stay hydrated, and I have some comfy pajamas all picked out. I think that about covers it I'm ready!
  24. Holy crap...I hope I don't have that much extra skin but her surgeon did a GREAT job! Plastics may be an option to look into if the loose skin is too bad. We will have to see how it turns out for me. Thank you for sharing!
