Swelling
I'm still pretty swollen and I was the 19th. My doctor put me on steroids and still has me taking the pain medicine so I can get food and water down. I go see him again tomorrow and he had hoped the swelling would be a lot better but it's not so I'm not too sure what he has planned. I guess we will see. Good luck and just go slow, I know how it feels though and it sucks. When your in pain you have no interest in food and without being hungry, it's hard to force yourself to eat. I hope it gets better for both of us soon!

Isopure?
Do be careful with this, your taste buds definitely change. I can't tolerate some of the stuff now that was great before I was sleeved. Good luck!

Isopure?
My only complaint is it leaves kind of an odd taste/feeling in your mouth after you drink it. It's great for you if you can get it down though.

Isopure?
Yes, and my favorite flavor so far is the melon which is green. It's pretty good for being filled with protein.

My Ongoing Story :)
No, he didn't discuss it with me. He wanted to do an egd but I had just had one so I just faxed him the results and he was fine with that. I'm taking my pain medicine and trying to get all of my Protein in. I did better today, I'm mixing greek yogurt with the silk and Protein powder then watering it down with skim milk. It goes down alright and has 14 grams of protein per 4 ounces which I can stomach every few hours.

Yeah, what does it mean? Is that what's causing the swelling?

Jello please help is this normal
I'm the opposite, I can drink water easier than I can eat Jello. I can only get about half a cup of jello down before I'm full. I'm weird though, so take what I say with a grain of salt good luck!

Elliptical 2 Days Out?
Yeah, I haven't used the elliptical. I'll talk to my doc but for now I'm not taking in enough calories to be burning them all off. I need to heal more before I can even think about harder exercise than walking. Thanks for all the advice, I was just being impatient.

My Ongoing Story :)
Here's a quick update on me: I haven't been on in a while, I've been really tired. I can't get much down, I'm still getting around 200 calories a day and 20 grams of Protein. I went to my doctor for a follow up and he said I have h. pylori in my stomach which is the bacteria that causes ulcers so he's treating with this mega antibiotic. I have to take 4 pills in the morning and 4 at night for 14 days. Hopefully that will get rid of it. He also gave me a steroid to help with the swelling which is causing me not to be able to get any food down. He said if it's not better by next week when I go in to see him again we are going to have to figure something out because I'm not getting enough food to sustain myself. He also prescribed more painkillers because without those I can barely choke down Water. Needless to say, I hope I feel better soon so I can get more food down and have more energy. For now, I'm just taking it day by day, resting a lot, and forcing as much Fluid and protein down as possible. I'll keep everyone updated as I start to feel better.

Pain After Surgery
If your still in pain, then take the pain medicine every 6 hours...that's what they gave it to you for! You want to be in the least amount of pain possible so you can heal. I'm sure your almost out of the woods but until you feel better take the pain medicine religiously. Good luck!

Pain After Surgery
I'm 3 days out and the pain is minimal, I'm still taking the Lortab just to be on the safe side but it's definitely very manageable. What did they give you for pain? Are you taking it easy? You should feel better soon...it'll be worth it in the end!

That's great! It sounds like you are recovering well. It's 100% normal to feel discomfort in bending over, you just had major surgery! I hope you continue to have a speedy recovery and head over to the losers bench soon!

21 and wanting a new me
I'm 19 and am a nursing student. I am 3 days post-op and am doing great. I would highly recommend getting the surgery done but you have to be ready to make a huge commitment to changing your lifestyle. Most surgeon's recommend waiting until at least 6 months after surgery to start drinking and then you should be aware that you are drinking empty calories so until you get down to goal weight you should really take it easy. Alcohol also absorbs quicker so you will be a cheap date. I wouldn't expect to go to parties and be able to drink like you used to. I'm in a sorority at college so know the party scene well but my sisters and I know that when I get back it'll be different than we are used to. You just have to be SUPER careful. I'm so excited to be back at my goal weight and be healthy again that all of these changes are SO worth it Good luck and let me know if you have any questions!

3 days out and having trouble with liquids
I'm drinking tea extremely watered down, it's really good! I mix it with Vitamin Water Zero in the lemonade flavor and it's a calorie free fruity lemonade..yum! Good luck!

Question fot the Ladies
I wouldn't get it from Pure Romance, they charge double what other places charge for a smaller amount. My friends just give me cash and I make a huge order online..so so so much cheaper!

Chick fil a diet lemonade
It's not carbonated, you shouldn't have any trouble with it unless you are having trouble with citrus in which case I would avoid lemonade all together.

Elliptical 2 Days Out?
Okay, so my recovery has been amazing...I feel great and I'm getting in my fluids and my protein is going down slowly but I'm getting about 2 oz every two hours. I don't have a treadmill at my house, I have an elliptical. I work out at a gym but I'm trying to get in short and frequent exercise which is rough to do at a gym. Can I lightly use my elliptical? I'm considering buying a treadmill but it'd be so much easier if I could just use what I already have. Opinions? Is it worth buying a treadmill?

Day 4 - Post Op....
If you go to CVS you can find adult extra strength liquid Tylenol. It's still gross but it's stronger so you have to take less. I'm still on clear liquids and so can't do anything like greek yogurt but I agree that it can be difficult. I'm doing good with sweeter proteins made with water. Good luck with your days to come! I'm doing amazing and I was the 19th.

My Ongoing Story :)
So, I went to the mall today to Teavana to get some more tea. My mom bought me a whole bunch of stuff to try because it makes my tummy feel good going down. I made it through the mall, we were in there for around an hour, made it to walgreens for a bit and am now home and feeling tired but not in too much pain so I took a dose of Tylenol instead of Vicodin. I'm doing GREAT! I'm getting tea down pretty well and I'm getting my chocolate coconut shake with water down slowly but it's good. I tried the chicken soup from Unjury and the first time it didn't go down well at all. I'm going to wait on that for a while and keep going with the sweeter protein flavors. In the meantime, I'm going to get some more rest and keep sipping!

How do you make Jell-O with unflavored Unjury?
I boiled 1 cup of water, mixed it with the jello packet powder and stirred it until it dissolved. I stuck a thermometer in that and let it drop to 140 degrees. I mixed 1 cup of cold water with 2 scoops of Unjury unflavored and let it dissolve completely. It looks really icky, but just go with it. I mixed those two together once the temp dropped to 140 and stirred very well. I stuck it in the fridge and a few hours later it was ready. It's super yummy and there isn't much settling of powder. I made that into two servings. Good luck!

Ouch!
I'm 2 days post-op and everything I swallow hurts going down. It helps me to take really tiny sips and just be careful to not over-do it. Good luck!
