  1. You look amazing!! I'm hoping my weight day of surgery will be around 300 and my ultimate goal is 180 but I'll be ok at 200. How has your skin done with the weight loss? All lot of excess??? You are definitely motivation and inspiration!! #WeightLossGoals Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. I'll have my 3rd visit with the nutritionist in the morning. 3 more left. I'm excited and scared at the same time. Hoping for a surgery date in November. I have decided on the sleeve due to the malabsorption as well, in addition to Idk how I feel about things bring rerouted but then again I'm Getting 80% of my stomach removed- so go figure! However I'm pretty confident that I won't change my mind regarding which surgery Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  3. I started my process in late May and have done all required labs and appoints with- psychologist, PA, intake doc, exercise psychologist and I will have my 3rd visit with nutritionist tomorrow. I meet with the surgeon on the 16th and after that I'll just be waiting to finish my 6th nutritionist visit.. So for myself start to finish 6 months if everything goes as planned with my insurance.. I'm excited and scared at the same time. I keep wondering how I will feel afterwards, will I ever feel like myself.. Normal again Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. I'm also a little concerned about The surgery itself as I have never been under anesthesia except when I had my wisdoms teeth removed. I think about what If something goes wrong or I don't wake up. It terrifies me just thinking about it. I trying to remain positive thought. I have at least 3 months until my surgery so I'm hoping my fears are lessened by then Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  5. I have done pretty much everything. I have my required preop support group meeting on 8/1 and I then meet with the surgeon on 8/16. I will have my 3rd nutrition visit on 7/28- which means only 3 more so that would mean my last one should be in October. I have met with the intake doc, exercise psychologist and completed my psychological evaluation- all have cleared me for surgery and I have completed all labs. So once I meet with the surgeon it will just be a waiting game- I think I may have to get a endoscopy.. The intake doc informed me that the surgeon will probably want me to have a bypass based on my weight and BMI, however I have decided that I want the sleeve, I'm hoping this won't be an issue Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. Hello everyone! I don't have my surgery date yet but I am highly anticipating a date in November, which also happens to be my bday month! I'm super excited and nervous at the same time. This consumes my life daily as I am either researching on the Internet or on this forum trying to make sure I am aware of everything- the good, bad and ugly! 9. Wow!!! You look amazing!!! Congrat! Do u mind giving a little feedback as to the level of difficulty after the surgery and losing that amount of weight do you have a lot of loose skin?! I'm just inquiring because I need to lose a 100+ lbs and I'm so nervous. Still in the beginning stages
  10. Congrats!! I can't tell but is the pic on the left before, it's a little dark! Nonetheless the pic on the right u look great
  11. Cat I completely understand where you are coming from! Like yourself I am in the early stages but I am absolutely terrified! I terrified about why will happen if I don't do this as well as what will happen when I do this!! I know this is a tool and a lifestyle change but I'm just scared my life will never be the same and that frightens me. Will my body ever feel normal or will I always feel sick. I was so ready for this surgery then I went to the information session on Wednesday and I got so scared I was sick to my stomach. I just kept heating the word irreversible and that made me sick.
  12. After going to the information session last night I am having major second thoughts! I'm so confused and lost!!! Before going I knew for sure I wanted this surgery now I'm just so worried about how this surgery will change my life and the issues that may come along with it!! Y'all please pray for me
  13. Did anyone have to pay a fee for the assisting surgeon?
  14. Why does your sister feel the way she does now?
  15. Hello Everyone!! As a lot of people have did, I have been lurking on the boards for a while. I actually read every post in this thread, trying to absorb and soak up any helpful information I could. I will be attending the informational session tonight at the bariatric center here in Savannah, Ga. I have already spoken to my PCP and I have the guidelines required by my insurance company. I am just so nervous it's unbelievable and I don't even have a surgery date yet! I have been praying and asking God for guidance with my decision. I will be 30 years old next November and I just refuse to be in the same health I'm in now. I feel blessed because I don't have any major health issues- HBP or Diabetes. I think my major concern is the actual surgery, loose skin and having to completely give up the food that our culture loves so much "soul food" I know that way of thinking is so backwards, me worrying about giving up food but I would be lying of I said I wasn't. I'm not too worried about hair loss as I am natural and my hair is pretty thick. I have told two people, my boyfriend and my best friend- who are both very supportive and will be with me the day of surgery. At this time that's all I plan on telling because I refuse to deal with the negativity. My mother thinks I am fine just the way I am and that's fine but I don't feel the same way. I think my aha moment was when my boyfriend and myself went to a theme park and I had to get off the ride in front of everyone because the safety bar wouldn't clasp because of my thighs! Smh!!! I am at the heaviest I have ever been I guess I carry my weight kind of good cuz no one believes it when I tell them how much I weigh. I'm asking all if my sleeve sistas to keep me in your thoughts and prayers as I embark on this life changing journey and I will do the same for you all. I will update you all after the informational session tonight
