  1. Thank you for warm wishes!!! The Dilaudid is typically combined with anti nausea meds - this week I find Zofran and Tiegan work well. They give to me about 15 minutes before they give the Dilaudid - but still 60% of the time I end up throwing up.
  2. Hello everyone! I was sleeved 12-12-12... A date I cringe when thinking about. When deciding on SWL I wanted to do the lap band because of the thought a part of my body being removed wasn't appealing. After a few one on ones with my surgeon he convinced me the sleeve was the best option for me. Now it's 6 plus weeks later - only two weeks -on and off- was Inable to spend home. The other 4 at the hospital being tested for everything multiple times - I feel like I'm in an episode of House - the only difference - no one is figuring out what's wrong. I'm vomiting around the clock if I drink anything. (still haven't gone beyond the clear liquid phase) - all tests show the passage way to be normal. Including gallbladder. They had to put in a pick line in my left arms - its my source of hydration and protien. It will remain in my arm until I can't eat on my own. Even when im discharged - it comes along - a nurse visits and changes my bags daily. As of last week - my surgeon reviewed my case with other surgeons across the country and they all recomeeded stretching out my pouch using a stent. The stent has to stay in for 10 days. The Dr. warned me it would be the worse pain to experience. But to rest assured I would have access to all the meds I need to get me through the 10 days. Dilaudid was the only medication that made my life easier - but at this point my body cant tolerate - I immediately start to vomit when taking and does nothing for my pain - so life will be Hell until Monday where the stint is scheduled to be removed. I'm so worried that the stent isn't going to fix me - if it doesn't my last option will be a bypass. The will bypass the area in the intestines that is causing this all together. I'm scared - constant pain - and regret the decision to go through with WSL. Any advice?
  3. Not Drinking enough liquids a day is your biggest indication. If you feel thirsty and your mouth is dry - that's means your body is dehydrated. Severe dehydration which what I had - that's when your muscles start to cramp up - weakness - headache. If you think you are, please call your dr.
  4. In the same boat - few days shy of three weeks and still only drink about 15 oz of liquid a day. My dr. Said not to worry about the protien now - he just wants me to focus on hydration. The dr had a catherter inserted into my arm late last week and we are scheduling a nurse to come buy the house a few times a week to get an IV for hydration until I can hydrate on my own.
  5. Hi All ~ Some of you know that I've been having a lot of trouble with my Water intake - including protien and all liquids. Been back to the hospital twice to get IVs to get rehydrated. I'm now 17 days post op. Any rate - wanted to share with all that are experiencing something similar. My surgeon (after asking him) says they can set up a nurse to visit me at home a few weeks to give me an IV to keep me hydrated and include some nutrients - this will help keep my body going until I'm able to start fully drinking on my own. Wish I had know about this option a week ago :-(
  6. After a few oz I have that full sensation and it lasts about 10 hours - I can't get anything else in with vomiting :-( At the Dr's today - hope there's so magical cure to get me back to somewhat normal. Just enough to give me some energy.
  7. I'm in LA - sleeved on 12-12. Pain isn't so bad - take advantage of the meds. My only problem is taking in my liquids. I'm not the norm - i only take in a handful of oz of Water and protien a day. Working on getting that up.
  8. Hi Heart - I'm near Rosemead. Good luck with your sleeve - hit me up if you have any questions :-)
  9. I had my surgery 12 days ago but was re-hospitalized only two days after leaving from dehydration. Lost 11 pounds in 3 days. But they kept me in for 3 days. Scary part is that I'm still not drinking much and I barely got a few oz of Protein these past 5 days. Hoping I dont end back in the hospital. Praying for you and hope all gets better!
  10. Lionheart - so sorry to hear about your experience and I'm worried I'm heading down your path as well. My surgery was on 12-12 - was released on the 14th and ended back in the hospital on the 16 th for 4 days for dehydration. Practical fainted in the shower. Leaving the hospital I was full of energy - the IV and Vitamins they pumped in the IV were wonderful. Just wish they made IVs for home.
  11. I have been taking the anti nausea - but that triggers headaches which in return makes me nauseous. Go figure! Going to try and schedule a follow up with my dr hopefully for tomorrow. Thanks ladies!
  12. @amytug - I've been having trouble taking in any liquids - no appetite to put anything in my mouth - just the thought of it makes me what to vomit. Becuase of this I have no energy so I find myself in bed most of the day - very depressing.
  13. I think wtf did I do about 500 times a day... But I find my encouragement by looking at some of the before n after pictures in this form.
  14. Hello Buddies!! So it's about 11 days post surgery and I still don't have an appetite to drink any protien shakes or anything liquid or puréed. Even Water - I force myself to drink 8 oz a day. I'm worried I may end up in the hospital again. It's just the thought of putting anything in my mouth makes me want to vomit.
  15. Salaam Ladies!! I was sleeved on 12-12-12. What a date to remember. I'm from Syria - but currently live in southern California. Not doing well with my liquid intake - find it hard to drink more than 8 oz of Water a day and about 4 oz of shake. It sucks watching everyone enjoying dinner and you know us Arabs - its a feast every night :-) Love this post!!!
  16. It's been 8 days since my surgery and I gave in today - I made some cream of mushroom Soup and had about 7 spoon fulls - I just couldn't do another sip of that Protein shake. To my surprise it went down very easy - easier than Water - and feel like I can take on more protein :-)!
  17. That sounds strange - they let me eat ice chips within an hour of recovering and sip on Water the same night. But I guess each dr is different. Ask for ice.
  18. Hi Last Week's Sleevers! Checking in - how are you doing? Was sleeved on the 12-12. Was set back on the 16th by dehydration and ended back in the hospital (couldn't drink Water or any Protein shakes). Glad to report today that I should be leaving the hospital and I've been gradually been able to drink 8 ounces of Protein shakes with a help of a stop watch - a sip every 5 minutes :-). Going to try some sugar free Jello and pudding later today. How is everyone else doing??
  19. Sorry to hear - I was like you. The first day/night were the worse. Dr had to give me stronger meds and the anti nausea meds were gods send. Don't be shy to ask for meds - it will help you relax and get some sleep. Keep hydrated and do the walking.
  20. So sleeved on 12-12 and still have trouble taking Water Protein n meds. Each time I swallow I feel a gas bubble moving in my stomach. I haven't been able to pass gas or burp to get anything out. I find a heating pad very relaxing n drinking warn liquids helps. But I also didn't get the leak test done. When I asked the nurse she said my dr doesn't require it.
  21. I've been doing the breathing exercises every hour. Luckily I don't smoke - one less thing to suffer through :-). Coughing it out is painful - it happens about twice a day. I guess I'll text my dr about it. Thank you all - love the feedback.
  22. Hi all, I'm three days post op and it's rough. Have any of you experienced coughing episodes with green mucus? Worried about an infection.
  23. I Was sleeved on the 12th - just left the hospital a few hours ago. Still sore - I find that walking helps with the pain - must say the first few minutes of walking hurts.
  24. Thanks everyone. After taking the pain meds I find it easier to swallow. Been trying to get fluids down before the meds wore out. Still just water - shakes are thick.
  25. Mine was the 12th... Didn't think the pain would be this bad. Still in the hospital and ready to go home. But i tell you - the pain meds they give me are awesome. Tryin to walk every two hours for about 15 minutes. Haven't passed gas but I feel moving in my sleeve. Not fun.
