  1. Hi kqtqueen, Hopefully you are feeling better by now. I'm also 27 however I'm a year out. I recall the pain being terrible and thinking the exact same thing you did/are. Where in Arizona are you? You can PM me if you'd like as I am in Arizona as well. Best of luck hope things have gotten better for you!
  2. Thanks so much for this great idea bunnyK! I went and ordered one from kohls today can't wait as I always forget to take my colace and have issues this will be much more nutritious and fun.
  3. Syntrax nectar iced tea is my life saver! Not ready to drink, but easily enough!
  4. Mine was laparoscopic and I have 5 incisions. 3 very small maybe 1/2 an inch and 2 larger ones about an inch long and they were closed with dermabond so no bandages. I did not have a JP drain but I have read that some do, surgeons preference I suppose.
  5. Get em girl! Insurance companies want you to give in and give up but I'm glad you're not!! I made sure with my insurance every single form/paper they wanted and I made sure I had copies of each, my surgeons insurance ladies (while VERY nice) could be forgetful... I wasn't having any of that...
  6. Yeah congrats!! I found out Friday I was approved too but boy has it been a busy weekend and now week! Go us!!!
  7. I was approved today!!!! Yay!!
  8. Good luck!! Hope it doesn't take long because from experience the waiting is miserable! Tomorrow will be 3 weeks or 15 business day and I SHOULD have an answer! My ins coordinator doesn't seem like the type to be pushy or on the phone calling them very much but she said if I don't hear tomorrow she will... We will see.. I'm getting discouraged
  9. Wow congrats!! You look amazing!!
  10. I am still waiting I've been calling like everyone says to do but basically have been told to stop calling because it wont help haha! They have to give an answer by next Thursday that will be 15 days. But it has been torture!
  11. I would call... the RN case manager was surprised that I had already done so much without calling Optum first. Not that anything wasn't already authorized, but my employer suggested contacting insurance asap to get in the system and have my RN assigned to me. I just like to be ahead of the game because i'm so excited! And I could always call my nurse with questions without bothering the surgeons staff because that's what she was there for
  12. Drmbig my surgeon is the same way, he likes to have another final appointment before the go ahead so it must be preference. Thanks for the info! Congrats on your approval! Khloe what insurance do you have? Good luck!
  13. Thank you so much! I am either way being positive! It won't be the end for me that's for sure!
  14. I was submitted today! Just curious I see a lot of people already have dates set for surgery before approval, is that normal? I can't do anything until the ok from insurance, which is basically just my sleep study and surgery date. I'm so excited and nervous!

  16. Congrats to all who got approval! My info was submitted today! To say the least its been a very emotional day! My ins coordinator says ill most likely be denied... yay, but I called United and they did receive my request so i'm going to be positive and hope for the best.
  17. Just watched it online. Holy cow is right! yuck...
  18. My weight management appointments have been with my surgeons nurse prac. whom I love! First appointment was a quick chat, weigh in, and then came the homework. Food dairy and going to the gym 7 days a week. Yikes! Won't lie that didn't happen. The second appointment was another weigh in and mostly chatting about caloric intake, carbs, protein, fats. Pretty much a nutrition class.. Last appointment in 2 weeks! Can't wait! We honestly talked about me not losing too much weight (borderline BMI 42) during this process just understanding and thinking about food choices and starting to exercise!
  19. Thank you for sharing! I plan to be sleeved in February and its a breath of fresh air to hear such a positive story!
  20. Hey there! I had a similar situation where my pcp did not like the idea of me proceeding with this and ended up not signing off on my insurance forms! Grr so I'm going to start seeing my surgeon's nurse practitioner for the remainder of my pre op for insurance requirements (3 month diet supervision). And eventually find a new pcp who cares about my health and will be on my side. Hopefully your surgeon will have some ideas on new docs to see? I sure hope so and good luck!
  21. Welcome! I have recently begun my journey as well! Good luck to you with everything!
  22. Wow krazynique that's seriously wrong! I just requested all my records from my PCP. It was 5 years worth of notes and it had all my weights and blood pressures on them, so there was nothing I needed her to sign! Not sure that she would've signed anything anyway! i would say just ask for your medical records... They can't deny you that.
  23. I went to my pcp yesterday and got nothing but negativity from her. She even said she hated the previous bariatric surgeon in our town (he has since sold his practice and left town) so it seemed personal. At first she really had me scared and concerned but I still believe this is right for me! But nonetheless I thought it was very unprofessional and ill be looking for a new pcp who is supportive of my decision and will help me through this!
  24. Thank you everyone! I'm definitely going to be changing PCPs. I think she had a very biased view as she even told me at my appointment that she hated the previous bariatric surgeon (who has since sold his practice and left town). So I'm not quite sure what happened there, sounded almost personal. I really don't have any doubts (other than financial-and ill figure that out!). I'm excited to receive this tool to help me eat better, lose weight, and be healthy. I may not have diabetes, hypertension and all that now but I know I will if I don't change. And having a family history of cardiac disease scares me! So I'm calling today to set up my psych eval! Thank you!
  25. Hi Karely007! I'm in the same boat as you! I met with my surgeon last week and he filled me with such great outcomes with his patients and testimonials. I know he is a great Dr. I was so excited to move forward with this until I went to my PCP to have her fill out insurance forms. She is very opposed to this, to say the least. She filled my head with a lot of negative things and now my head is reeling! People gaining the weight back, leaks, blood loss, etc, etc. She insists I need to try Weight Watchers to lose the 100+ lbs. Ive tried atkins (many times), Ideal Protein, and countless diet pills. Always gaining the weight and more back. I'm young too and I want to better my life now. I guess I really just need words of encouragement. haha! I still want to proceed with VSG and plan to do so! I'll have to figure a way to get those forms to her to sign... Did anyone else have these problems from their PCP? Someone also mentioned maybe a second opinion? Thank you for anything you have to assist me!
