Loose skin?
you might need more high intensity workouts to build muscles. things like squats and wall pushups or regular pushups on the floor since you can't afford a gym membership. have you checked out youtube? they have lots of great workouts you can do at home. can you purchase weights? what i've been doing is just buying 1 weight and using it for both arms, and when i need to increase the weight, buy 1 again at a higher weight (that way you save a little bit of money)

This is a WAY TMI post.. but I need help!
I have PCOS as well, and I went 9 months without my period prior to surgery. 2 days later, it came! It was really light though. Then the next two months, I bled and bled. It was awful. I wasn't on BC, or doing anything for my PCOS. I'm just hoping weightloss will help with the symptoms and regulating my cycle.

Anyone having trouble sleeping
My sleep schedule was and still is a mess. And I'm 3.5 months post op. I was only able to sleep in 4 hour increments, I couldn't stay asleep. I felt like a zombie. Couldn't focus, cried a lot, couldn't even fall asleep to take a nap. I've been on ambien, but now I'm such a light sleeper, even muffled talking wakes me up. I used to sleep like a log! But it's gotten a little better even in the last 3 weeks for me.

I'm cleaning out my closet (literally)...
I feel like I’m going through a tiny bit of body crisis over something so small. I’m getting rid of all my size 22 pants. EVERYTHING. I’m bringing them down to SC to give to my grandmother to sell at a consignment shop. And I found a pair of 24 magenta jeans from Torrid, that still had their price tag on them. I remember when I bought them freshman year of college, thinking eventually I was going to be a 24 and they kind of fit at a 22. They were way too big on me when I tried them on, yet I still wanted to keep them. It was such a strange thought thinking that becoming a 24 was inevitable, even tho pre-op I was a 22 ever since I came to college. I never got to a 24. I slipped on a few pairs of size 20 capris/dress pants with my shorts on bunched up and a tshirt tucked into them. They fit. I just can’t fathom losing almost 2 pants sizes. (I say almost 2 because most 18s don’t fit right) It doesn’t seem like a big accomplishment. I want to hold onto my 22s. I don’t want to let them go. I said to myself “Gabby they’ll fit you this summer. They might fall down but you can still wear them anyway and hike them up.” But in actuality they won’t fit me. They don’t fit me now. And I just can’t get over that I’m going down in pants sizes. It’s been so long since I started dieting in middle school that I’ve seen actual progress. Even at a 20/18 I feel like I have more fashion options open to me. I forgot what that felt like. And it makes me both delighted and sad. Sad because I know how hard this world can be when you don’t have all the nice clothes available to you as a fat person above a 14. My size has been a huge part of my identity, all my life. And I’m wondering what will be left at the end of this long journey?? Will I still be the same or will I be an even bigger mess with an even bigger identity crisis than I started out with?

Biggest loser conspiracy!
I remember listening to a podcast of a former contestant (I'm gonna search for the link now) and she said she didn't care if she wasn't supposed to talk about it, but they literally dehydrate themselves and are terrified to drink water and exercise with layers and layers stuff and just sweat it out. they're even afraid to eat. everything they show on camera is a sham, and the crew treats the contestants like **** (cattle as she called it). so i don't think i'd ever want to be on that show because some of them leave with even worse disordered eating than they started with.

how's your pcos/ periods
I went 9 months without having my period pre-op. Only had hair loss when I was first diagnosed at 15. Had surgery 12/17/12. Then a two days after surgery I got my period very lightly for a few days. It's been regular ever since then (always off by a two days or so). First 2 times were really heavy. Then this month it was only heavy the first 2 days and light the rest! Part of the reason I got this surgery was to help my PCOS. However, even 10 weeks post op I'm noticing my hair is coming out a little more.

How Many Calories Are You Eating?
I'm 10 weeks post-op and I eat about 1,000 calories. Sometimes a lot less. Yesterday I ate a lot of carbs, so that took me out of ketosis (I could smell the difference). But it does take our body some time to get used to our diet change. Are you exercising at all? That might help the scale move a little faster.

Contraceptive
nuva ring or depo shot. stay away from yaz!

plateaued?!?!
Yup! I had this problem too. It lasted for a few weeks, but now the scale is slowly moving again. I'll take a pound or two a week loss than nothing. It will move again! Are you exercising/walking?

Healthy, I am Healthy.....how can this be healthy?
That's great to hear you're in great health! Fat doesn't always equal unhealthy! There are plenty of healthy fat people out there. Are you familiar with the Health at Every Size movement? It's something to look into as well as the Body Positivity movement. Focuses more on healthy eating and exercise rather than just the numbers on the scale. There are plenty of unhealthy thin people out there too! I look at this surgery as a tool to force me to eat better because without it, I probably wouldn't have, and when I got older my health would've been in bad shape. Congrats to you!

Dec. 17 Sleevers - How are you on week out?
I'm having the same feelings because I'm not seeing the numbers I want. I found out from a family friend that their niece had this surgery a year ago and is only down 65 pounds and she started at 275. So, I guess I look at it as, I'm at least really close to 65 pounds. Everyone is different and as long as the scale moves, even if it's slowly, it's better than not at all. I'm also worried that what if I'm not meant to lose 100 pounds? And only make it to 200? I haven't seen 150 pounds since childhood. But things take time! We're probably losing it faster than it takes to put on :]

Easter Challenge
Update: SW: 231 CW: 228 pounds to goal: 3 i haven't been drinking as much Water as i should, so i could be up in weight the next few days. one week at a time i guess!

Carbs vs fiber per day?
I'm close to 11 weeks post op, and I've been using chia seeds since about week 7 or 8. I get mine from trader joe's. for 2 table spoons, it's only 2 carbs and 12g of fiber! I usually eat them in my chili, but I'm sure you could put them in your protein shake or anything else!

Dec. 17 Sleevers - How are you on week out?
you seem to be progressing quite well! I'm having a rough time with sleep and feeling miserable, but the scale is slowly moving.

I'm gaining weight.
I know I've been working out, and lifting a little bit of weights. So I was thinking I was putting on muscle mass, but I'm not losing inches. I have been meeting my protein requirements, but I'm thinking may I need to get in more. It's frustrating that the scale has gone up progressively as the days have passed. I just recently had my period, so I know it's not water weight. I don't really know what else to do I don't regret this surgery one bit, and even hitting a 40 pound weight loss, despite not being able to notice it too much. I guess I'm just impatient and dissatisfied that my body isn't losing the weight the way I want it to.

5 months out 52lbs gone plus the 16 i lost before surgery
keep it up! you're doing great :]

two weeks post-op and severe insomnia.
I'm also having issues with insomnia! For the past few weeks, I'm so tired I cry because I just can't sleep. I sleep in 4 hour intervals. Even when I don't set an alarm, I just wake up around the 4 hour mark, and then I can't back to sleep. I'm taking ambien right now, but it's doing nothing for me. It's very frustrating because it's affecting my life and my school work. So I definitely feel your pain!

Does anyone still feels hungry?
I still feel hunger, even when I'm taking Prevacid 2x a day. If I left it go for too long, the hunger gets so strong I can feel/hear noises into the back of my throat! it's very odd. Sometimes I don't feel anything at all, and I'm think: Oh man, I should eat something because I forget to eat. It's a nice change.

how long after surgery did you feel "normal"?
I felt normal for the first 4 weeks, not tired, no sleeping problems. Almost 10 weeks post op, I'm exhausted all the time despite upping my carbs, and I'm having issues with insomnia.
