  1. Wow, happy surgiversary! I'm looking forward to being sleeved in March. I'm not looking forward to the actual surgery, but when I read testimonies like yours, it makes me believe that it will all be worth it. Thank you so much for sharing.
  2. FYI the 8004 is the EXACT same juicer except it is white instead of silver in color.... and the 8004 costs less. It's an expensive juicer but it has a 15 year warranty so you know this thing is built to last. It's EXCELLENT on greens.... the best juice around at getting all the juicy goodness out of kale. I don't love whole kale in my smoothies so I will make a regular fruit smoothie in a nutribullet, then just add the kale juice from the omega juicer!... or if I'm going low carb, I'll just do a kale shot with kale, lemon ginger and some stevia. Tastes not so great, but it's a great way to get the benefit from real live plant stuffs when you're dealing with a low carb, high Protein diet. Also I like to do ginger juice in it. Ginger is a great anti-inflammatory so I juice ginger and put the juice in tea. I have used my juicer at least twice a day for the past six months! It's been the perfect fit for my needs. Edited to add... I certainly wouldn't buy this juicer for the purpose of pureeing foods, an immersion blender would do a fine job of it at a much lower cost.... BUT if you're considering a new juicer anyway, I'd definitely look into the Omega.
  3. I missed the start of this conversation but.. I think I get the idea... as my in-laws always said...."Welcome to Lebanon"
  4. Woot woot... March for me too. March 12th or 13th with Dr Cabrera at Mi Doctor in Tijuana.
  5. Yes it does matter. Walmart and GNC have many options. I got mine online from vitacost. I went with Jay Robb because I don't feel comfortable with artificial sweeteners and Jay Robb uses stevia.
  6. 10 pounds by December 12th? EASY. Just do a VLCD and stick with it. After the first 4 or 5 days it becomes easy. I'm currently waiting on my Protein to arrive and then I will be doing 800 calories a day until my March surgery date. My plan is to do three scoops of protein in fat free milk giving me 110 grams of protein and adequate potassium which is something most multivitimins lack. I'm also taking a prenatal multivitim divided into two doses so I'm taking half the dose in the morning and half the dose in the afternoon. One Vitamin b complex capsule, and one vit d3 tablet with magnesium. I'm also doing one kale/lemon/ginger shot sweetened with stevia per day. I don't recommend this unless you're an experienced juicer. Kale shots can be very hard on the tummy if you're not used to them. Ordinarily I'd put some green apple and an orange with the kale and enjoy it as a yummy juice, but I can't do the carbs right now because I want to be in ketosis. I've done a 30 day juice fast in the past, and I've also done also a high protein liquid VLCD in the past and I can tell you that it's NOT that bad.. particularly when you have a goal in sight. Once you resign yourself to not eating, it goes easy. You only have to do it for TWO WEEKS... that's NOTHING. You GOT THIS!
  7. I must agree with sewcrazy.. if they'e just looking to see if you have white blood cells in your urine and then giving you an antibiotic, they may not be treating for the right offender! If you've had THREE in six weeks, it sounds to me like it's the same UTI that is not being effectively treated. Either they're not giving you the right medication, or it's not a long enough course. Also make sure you're following all the directions. I know with Cippro you're not supposed to take it within several hours of having milk products. I hope you are able to get this squared away soon. Nothing worse than something that makes you pee every five minutes and then makes it feel like you're peeing broken glass... UGH I feel your frustration.
  8. I'm currently scheduled for March 13 but I may have to push it forward a week which will put my surgery in the same week as yours. I'm going to Cabrera/Valenzueala. I'm having my procedure at Mi Doctor and will be staying at the Marriott.
  9. My doc calls for two weeks of Protein shakes plus one lean protein meat and a salad per dayv then three days of clear liquids. I'm doing a high protein VLCD for three months until surgery in order to get as much weight off as I can prior to surgery.
  10. Glad everything went great for you despite the last minute disappointment. Just as an FYI regarding doctor teams. Cabrera/Valenzuela perform all their surgeries together and advertise their team together too. .
  11. I'm Definitely NOT looking forward to this when I start my pre-op VLCD! I've done a 30 day juice fast and also a VLCD in the past and I remember this feeling well. First time it happened to me, I felt like my teeth were made of caterpillars and no amount of brushing could fix it. eeewwwwwwww.
  12. I think a lot of it is ignorance. All people hear are the negatives of WLS and they're still stuck in the 80s mentality of WLS being a high risk operation.
  13. Exactly.. I thought it was supposed to be a man. Teeny boobs.. I just assumed they were man boobs. Plus size or not, we expect mannequins to be of desired proportions. Do skinny mannequins have muffin tops Like so many otherwise thin have? No. Do they have flat butts like many thin women (and some fat women too) have? No they don't. Thin Mannequins have nice proportions, even though not all thin women have those same proportions. So why are they making the fat mannequin with these horrid proportions? At leas they didn't give it a pannus!
  14. My juicer can do puree type foods. I have w blank plate with no holes in it and I can run stuff through my juicer with the blank plate on it and it comes out in a very thick mash. Sometimes I have to run stuff through twice. I love it for "banana icecream. I just run a frozen banana through my juicer and out comes an AMAZING banana ice cream. SO much better than doing it in a blender where you have to add additional liquids. I use the Omega 8006 juicer
  15. My record is 7 pounds! I gain it the week before and then lose it the day before or the first day. My sister is the same but she doesn't lose hers until the end of her period. I'm hoping that when I'm smaller my pre period weight gain will be less too!
  16. I have done a 30 day juice fast in the past, and also I've done a VLCD (high protein liquid diet). Once you reach about day four or five the hunger goes away. You'll still have occasional cravings and mental hunger but there isn't any physical hunger after day 4 or 5.
  17. UGGGGGG I When I had my Gallbladder out, I begged and begged for them not to give me a catheter. My neighbor was actually the nurse assisting. She said "she'd see what she could do..." When I came out of surgery, I immediately felt the that the catheter was there and started to demand to have it out before I even got back to my room. I wouldn't quit pressing that call button until someone came and got that thing out of there. I was soooooo angry about having the catheter that I think I gave my neighbor the stink eye for the next 6 months... Oh yes, and prior to getting the catheter, I had never had a UTI. Since then I've had THREE. Coincidence? I think not.
  18. Ya, it was VERY confusing... especially since Lopez, Carberea, and Garcia are all practicing in MiDoctor hosptal I've been working with Christy at MBC to have my surgery with the Cabrera/Valenzuela team. Although Lopez and MBC have parted ways over contractual issues, Christy at MBC still spoke very highly of his skill as a surgeon. Also, my guess would be, and this is just a guess. That as a doctor grows in popularity and experience he eventually only needs one scheduling service because he has sooooo much business he does not need it coming from two or three directions.... but when the doctor isnewer, he needs multiple coordinating services to send him business. That's my take on it anyway.
  19. I researched many doctors before deciding on my surgeon. I honestly felt comfortable with Garcia, Lopez, Alvarez, Aceves and Cabrera. Cabrera is a newer surgeon but he still has nearly 3000 bariatric surgeries under his belt-Way more than the US doctor I was considering. I finally chose Cabrera, but I don't think I would have gone wrong with any of these doctors. I think it's like choosing a college, Harvard might be right for YOU, but Yale or Princeton might meet someone else's needs.
  20. My doc requires two weeks of 3 Protein shakes plus one lean meat with salad (with a very small amount of non-fat light dressing) then three days of clear liquids only prior to surgery. I'm actually doing a straight up Optifast style VLCD Liquids only for two to three months in order to get some pounds off pre surgery. Honestly I've done VLCDs before and they're not hard after the first week once you go into ketosis you aren't hungry anymore. I actually think that liquids only is EASIER than throwing a meal in there... but that's just me Liquid diets are a fabulous way to lose weight... I just can never KEEP the weight off. I'm hoping with the extra tool of the sleeve, I'll be successful this time.
  21. I'm presleeve. My doctor has recommended: a multivitimin taken twice a day, B-complex and calcium citrate+vit d3 I purchased: flintstones for those days when I can't swallow a pill. chewable calcium citrate, magnesium+d3, B-complex, and a very good pre-natal Vitamin with Biotin. I will be doing a VLCD for the months leading up to surgery so I'll start the vitamin regimen when I start the VLCD.
  22. OMG, I typed in my wt and height and body type and I saw TWO pictures that looked EXACTLY like me down to the posture! WOW. I guarantee if I sent those pictures to anyone who knows me and they would say it is me.
  23. My ex-husband used wax mine for me. He did a fantastic job too. Now I have to do it myself :-( .... looking forward to losing some weight to make all those delicate places easier to reach.. and It would be a whole heck of a lot easier if I could SEE what I'm doing too! Yet one more thing to look forward to after surgery! Anyway, yeah, think of the ladies who do the waxing in the same way you think of your lady doctor... They've seen it ALL!
  24. I'd say it's pretty FREAKIN' AWESOME!!!
