  1. My surgeon told me it would be a good idea to take some over the counter Prilosec for reflux and that it would help the swelling in my stomach go down. I went to get some but all I could find were capsules. Is it okay to take a capsule 4 days post-op?
  2. I am 3 days post-op. My surgery center required me to buy a kit of protein shakes and vitamins from Bariatric Advantage. The shakes will cover me for the first week and the vitamins for the first month. I am trying to get the Bariatric Advantage shakes down, but I do not really like them. I ordered a sample kit from Unjury last night for next week because I read that they were pretty good. Can anyone suggest their favorite, tastiest, easiest to get down protein shakes?
  3. I am 3 days post-op also. I have weaned myself off my pain meds...except at bedtime. My doctor told me to take them and not let the pain get ahead. He said, "That is why I wrote you a prescription." The pain med makes me very drowsy and I fall fast asleep. So, I am taking my pain meds at bedtime and have not had any problems sleeping. I have even been sleeping on my sides which is the way I usually sleep. I know I need rest and sleep to heal so I make sure I am comfortable at bedtime. Good luck and congratulations on your surgery!
  4. My surgery was November 9th and I still have not had a bowel movement. I drank two 8 oz. protein shakes today and a little yogurt. Is this normal not to have a bowel movement by now?
  5. I was sleeved 2 days ago also! I tried my first protein shake this morning and it took me 1 1/2 hours to eat it. I would eat a tiny spoonful and wait a while. I could feel it going down. My insides were gurgling and rumbling and had some little crampy pains with each bite...not unbearable pain, but uncomfortable feeling. Hope this will get better and better.
  6. I was just sleeved on Friday and my surgeon said I had a hernia that he repaired while he was in there. He said about 80% of his patients have hernias that he fixes while he is doing the sleeve. He acted like it was no big deal. I am up walking up and down the driveway today and feeling pretty good. Hope this helps.
  7. I was sleeved 2 days ago. I got home from hospital yesterday. This morning I started with my first protein shake. I am sitting here trying to get it down a tiny spoonful at a time. I hear lots of gurgling and some discomfort. I just want to know if this is normal and will it get better?
  8. I was sleeved yesterday and just got home today. Yesterday was a little rough, but feeling somewhat better today. I am anxious about started full liquid diet tomorrow. Anxious as in worried... not excited. I have a protein elixir I can use in place of shakes. I am just afraid I will not be able to get it down. Any advice or encouragement is welcome!
