  1. Today I sunk to a new low. I pureed a can of Dinty Moore beef stew....ha.. My doctor told me I could eat anything I could puree to the consistency of a smoothy/baby food. I ate 2oz. and it wasn't so bad. Had a couple of stomach pangs. I'm embarrassed to say some of the things I've pureed! I also experimented eating a couple of bites (chewed up well but not pureed with blender) of my sons cheese ramen noodles last night. That cheese taste was SO good. I'm just struggling to get the Protein in. It has been a little better since I started making popscicles with my Protein shake...I just mix the unjury with a smaller amount of almond milk and pour it into popscicle molds. Pretty good! I'm 10 days out from surgery.
  2. I see..I wasn't totally clear about that! Thanks
  3. Yes I read the article, unfortunately I'm not really eating protein as far as the part where it says dense protein stays at the bottom. I understand I just shouldn't have eaten that extra half an ounce and I have noticed the couple of times it occurred I believe I didn't have my food pureed quite enough...it definitely wasn't 'slider food'! Do you know the answer to my stomach question as far as being able to consume 4-6 ounces at the 3rd stage of the diet?
  4. Fortunately I've always had to be deathly ill before I throw up...it was kind of like I felt like I needed to burp but ...I knew it wasn't a burp I was feeling that needed to come up, it was food..I have taken TINY sips of tea while eating before if I just cant stand it...or chewed a very small piece of ice out of my tea, so far that hasn't caused a problem. I'm kind of confused that when I get to the stage I can eat 'regular foods' it says 4-6oz....but what causes the stomach to be able to hold more? I didn't think to ask the doctor that when I went for my week post op visit Friday.
  5. Ugg....I haven't done that but I'm still in the pureed stage and suppose to have 2 oz. I ate 2.5 oz. the other day and I had that feeling where it felt like the food was coming up my esophagus...it wasn't a vomiting feeling or heartburn it was just a feeling of the food overfilling my new small stomach and felt like it was trying to come up. I'll be so glad when I can have more than 2 oz.
  6. How old was she 12? Sounds like someone was jealous to me!
  7. I am only 5 days post op. What is slimming?
  8. How many carbs are in the shake after you add the fruit, yogurt etc...Maybe that particular mixture has a little to much sugar? I know I'm that way as far as if I eat anything early in the day that has too much sugar, I'm starving by 1 or 2.
  9. I'm the same way I didn't really have any pain...just some soreness from the incisions.
  10. I bought these today and I actually look forward to taking them. It's 4 a day and they taste kind of like a starburst with a candy type coating on the outside. I got them at Walmart and paid about $7.50 for them.
  11. The nurse said no but didn't really give me a clear answer....AND when I first saw the oatmeal I was surprised and even called and asked if it needed to be blended (yuck) and they said no. So I'm about to start eating eggs!
  12. I'm about the same amount of days out from surgery as you. Honestly since it was just the one time. I would have done the same thing! I am on the phase two (lasts 5 weeks after operation) diet for the gastric sleeve. I can have creamed soup, oatmeal, malt o meal, jello etc..I am curious as to why I can't have cooked egg whites, or cottage cheese especially since they contain protein. The consistency of oatmeal flakes is much rougher (or even malt o meal) than an egg white that has the consistency of jello, or oatmeal. It confuses me why certain soft foods like those aren't on my very limited food list. So sorry about your grandmother.
  13. I am on the phase two (lasts 5 weeks after operation) diet for the gastric sleeve. I can have creamed soup, oatmeal, malt o meal, jello etc..I am curious as to why I can't have cooked egg whites or cottage cheese. The consistency of oatmeal flakes is much rougher (or even malt o meal) than an egg white that has the consistency of jello, or cottage cheese. Is there a particular reason for this because I could sure use the protein. I don't want to hurt/stretch etc.. my stomach but I am just wondering why other soft foods like cottage cheese and egg whites aren't on the list. They contain protein and I don't see how they could damage your stomach if something as coarse as oatmeal or malt o meal won't damage it, if the reason for leaving it off is based solely on consistency . Unless there's some other reason for excluding them. Does anyone know?
  14. I know..kind of like the pre-op diets and how some let you progress to foods faster than others.
  15. OMG don't you know those doctors have heard some crazy stuff! LOL
  16. I had the gummies but my doctor said I couldn't use them because the hard Gelatin takes a long time to dissolve in the stomach So I gave all the gummie vitamins I already bought to my daughter and had to buy more.
  17. LOL..my daughter just informed me that when I was still 'out of it' and they tried to put the oxygen hose thing in my nose I slapped it away and said there were flies swarming around my nose...and when my stomach was rumbling I said my stomach feels like that Katy Perry song..Fireworks.. Well I could have said a lot worse! HA Fortunately I didn't, or if I did they haven't told me.
  18. Pretty much. It wasn't as painful as I expected. Don't get me wrong its not easy, but I didn't have severe pain like I feared I would have after having a large portion of my stomach removed. It's more of a soreness and that's at my incision sites. I RARELY take pain pills, so the morphine drip they gave me made me extremely sluggish and sleepy. I told them I didn't want it anymore the 2nd day and honestly for me I felt better without it. I was able to get up and walk then. I couldn't before because I was so 'druggy' feeling. Honestly I hated the blood thinner shots more than anything. They felt like wasp stings. Not so much the actual shot, but the medicine still hurts even after the nurse pulls the needle out. Like when you get stung by a wasp and it still hurts because the stinger is still in your skin. If possible don't let them give it to you by your arm pit. I got the first one there and it hurt like hell. The other 2 were in my stomach (yeah, I know but not bad) and they weren't as painful. I would say what I felt in my stomach is/was more of a rumbly type feeling. Kind of like if you ate something you shouldn't have and your stomach starts rumbling...like that....but for me it wasn't pain.
  19. I bought Adora Calcium supplement. Its a round chocolate disc about the size of a quarter and its not bad at all. I have 2 a day (500mg) a piece. I bought Vitamin Shoppe B-12 1000mg Methylcobalamin (read that if you get B12 get the one that says it has Methylcobalamin not Cyanocobalamin). I bought both of these at the Vitamin Shoppe. Here's the article about the B12. It's a very interesting article. http://www.naturalnews.com/032766_cyanocobalamin_vitamin_B-12.html
  20. Hi Celina. Your weight and height is about what mine was. I'm almost 5'6 and weighed 220ish when I started...then after preop diet I was 217 (I only had 10 days notice before surgery). I had my surgery 3 days ago at Presbyterian Plano using Dr. Cribbins.
  21. I live in Rowlett and would be interested in a DFW support group. melinda_cook68@HOTMAIL.COM I just had surgery 5 days ago using Dr. Cribbins at Plano Presby.
  22. I have a question. I'm new so I'm sorry if I'm posting this in the incorrect forum/way. When someone sends me a message (it says profile feed at the top) and I reply to them....then I go back later to it..I can't see my whole reply...What do I click on or what do I do so that I can see my whole reply. Basically 2 people asked me the same question, so I wanted to cut and paste my reply so I didn't have to type the whole thing again , but it cut's off my reply after about the 2nd sentence and I can't figure out how to see the rest of it. THANKS!
