  1. I am having mine on Monday too and I had a scare similar but it was my tsh level. It all worked out for me and it will for you too!
  2. I have to agree with the others, call the nutritionist, suck it up, and look ahead. I had to hear the same thing when I complained too lol. I am on day 7 of liquid only, I would love to be able to eat a meal
  3. Live in Cleveland and I am getting sleeved at the Cleveland clinic
  4. Oh my gosh! Reading your message really hit home with me as I am having issues in my marriage as well. I am not sleeved yet and I cannot imagine having to deal with that at this time. A few weeks ago i posted myself about my marriage and I felt as if my marriage was over as well. At this point I am not going to put much energyinto my husband staying or leaving because I feel that what will be- will be. I do not know what your marriage entails but if he made such a life changing decision there were signs somewhere. Often times we choose to ignore them. I am sorry that you are going through this but I pray that you gain clarity to the situation in its entirety and that you gain a peace of mind.
  5. I am on my pre op diet now and I was wondering the same thing. It is soooo hard!
  6. You are welcome! And anytime you are there just give me a heads up, I am literrally on that floor all the time. I do work with the public. I am a research assistant and I recruit patients for clinical trials. I have to see the patients if the nurse gets too busy but I am always on the phone with someone -lol. After you complete the questionnaire it should go kind of fast. Most patients who register for the seminar can get the ball rolling there. There are staff members there who take your information to get the process going. Once I was approved, I got the phone call asking when did I want the surgery. Once you get approved for it it goes quick! I could have had it the sooner but I wanted to wait until Thanksgiving. First step is to go to the workshop which I believe you can register for online.
  7. It just so happens that I am at my pre op appointment here at the clinic and that i am also having my surgery here and to top it all off, I work in this department as well. The card you are referring to is a card that determines your path which usually is a reference to your requirements. The nurses are good about explaining all of that to you and the staff always answers your questions honestly. There is an in house insurance department who pushes the insurance through as fast as they can and they are good about keeping you updated. The head of the department is dr. Schauer who is who I work for and he is great, very personable and he takes his time with you at your appointments. The good thing about surgery here is that you will see the nutritionist, psychiatrists, pre op doc, and surgeon in the same area on the same floor which is what I love. I have a sort of advantage cause I work with the team here but I also work with outside patients who come for research opportunities. Let me know which surgeon you are seeing and I will try to keep you updated on what is going on here as a patient.
  8. I live in Broadview Hts which is near Cleveland and I work at the Cleveland Clinic which of course is where I am having my surgery. I am scheduled for December 10th. I work in the bariatric research department so I. Am pretty familiar with everyone, who is your surgeon?
  9. I have started today too and i am drinking boost with extra protein. It said boost glucose control or slim fadt high protein so i figure its ok. I didnt think how expensive it would be to do preop
  10. Wow. My paper reads that i can have the damn Jello and sugar free popsicles no broth or anything like that. Only these shakes for 800 calories a day
  11. You can have soups preop?? I was stuck with shakes, crystal light packets, sugar free popsicles, water and something else. I have to double check with the nutritionist because I could have sworn it said mcnuggets were on there too lol
  12. I am also on the 10th and I am getting nervous and anxious at the same time. I start my liquid 2 week diet, I have a bunch of appointments on Tuesday and a few more on the 4th. I wish a had a magic 8 ball that could tell me how i will look in about 1 year. I have to say that I am looking forward to looking sexy on my birthday in the summer!!! Right now I am about 250 and I am 5 ft 3- I pigged out for the past week so I may be more but I had to eat as much as I wanted to before my journey begins! To be honest , I would be happy around 180 but I am sure I will be smaller than that. I did the protein sparing diet last year and I went from 240 to 164 in about 6 months -that was a bit too small for me but I had a lot of energy and I felt good going to shop in normal stores.
  13. I guess I am a groupie or a roadie because I am definitely going to miss certain foods. I tried to pay red lobster to deliver me a crab bake so that should tell you a lot! lol
  14. My husband is against me having the surgery and he said that I wouldn't look right skinny and in my head I am thinking I wouldnt look right dead either cause my fat ass had a heart attack! I have to say that although I love my husband this is my body and he doesnt and has never walked in my shoes. My grandmother always told me that a man can come and go and she is right. If you stay big is a man guaranteed to stay with you- NOPE. If you lose weight is he guaranteed to stay with you- NOPE. You have to live your life for you. When you look in the mirror how do you feel? If you could go back would you? Love is unconditional regardless and as long as he can offer you that, you two will be fine. Ask yourself, if you had a daughter in your situation what you would tell her. Just my two cents...
  15. I am having surgery in two weeks and the preop diet is tomorrow. I have been watching those youtube videos to get a picture of before and after and I think I was psyching myself out. I think that starting the preop is making me realize that this is real and that this is my last chance to turn around but I am going to push forward. I look in the mirror and it gives me a reality check to keep going. Ultimately, I am the only one that make this decision and I trust myself to make the right one. I have five kids so I worry about making the right decision and I worried about not making it but I have to say that what will be what be. I believe that God is on my side so everything will be alright.
  16. i start my preop diet tomorrow and i am already going through withdrawals. I feel nervous now that the surgery is two weeks away. I bought boost high protein for the diet and on the list they provided it was slim fast, boost, i forget the other name, crystal light, water and no pop. I was bummed out that I couldn't just do a low cal diet but oh well. I guess it will prepare me for after the surgery. But in the mean while-- I am about to enjoy some chicken alfredo and i am throwing in a piece of steak on the side- dont judge me, i am in mourning. lol
  17. Cleveland here!! Im getting mine December 10
  18. It is my duty to check this room out. Brb
  19. Can't even say anything. I am guessing that there are some happy wives out here cause of the surgery lmao. Man they need an adult forum cause I am a nosy heifer that has plenty of questions about "changes"
  20. I am sorry to ear that. You are going through life changing Evers right now but only you know what you need to do.
  21. I have heard the same thing about people knowing others who died from the surgery. Myresponse is well I know people who have died from being fat so now what. I am having surgery 12/10 and I am anxious for a new life and that's all that counts.
  22. i almost didnt want to chime in but i felt compelled to. i work in the bariatric department and i woulr rule against it. certain insurances will cover it but it is considered to be experimental. I thought about it at first due to the fact that it was basically turning the stomach inside out and you could resume normal activity soon but i havent heard enough positive feedback to even consider that route. to me it seems a bit unnatural to flip the stomach inside out for weight loss. i dont know- to each its own i guess.
