  1. Signing up for a 5k run this summer!

  2. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to save and or preserve food? I've been using ziplock bags and tupperware in the freezer but the quality isn't great since too much air gets in. I've heard about vacuum sealers but they seem expensive and the bags are expensive. If you own one, would you suggest it? How has your experience been? Any recommendations?

  6. How long were you advised to wait until you consumed alcohol? What happened when you drank for the first time?

  8. I'm a little over three Weeks out and i'm still having a hard time eating. It feels like the food is getting stuck in my throat and it's about to come back up. I also feel a lot of acid and bubbles in my stomach when my food finally goes down. I'm getting discouraged and overwhelmed, i'm starting to regret my decision to get sleeved. I just want to feel normal, eat normal, live a normal life. I know I won't regret this once I start seeing results and I feel healthier but i'm having a hard time staying positive until then. Does this lump in my throat get any easier? Has anyone else had this feeling and difficulty swallowing? How long did it take for you to start feeling normal without difficulty eating?

    Overwhelmed and Frustrated

I'm doing okay with water, unless I gulp by accident when i'm really thirsty. I'm still struggling with food and I think I've realized it's because i'm not chewing enough and my bites are too big. I'm just so impatient, I want to feel normal again already.

  11. I'm in the hospital two days post-op. Overall I feel okay but i'm having difficulty keeping my liquid pain meds down. I've kept down juice, Water, and a popsicle but I can't seem to handle the oral pain meds so I've vomited three times. I'm hoping to go home tomorrow but I don't know if that will be possible if I can't tolerate the pain meds Going to bed for the night. I'm hoping for day 3 to be a turn-around day like everyone says. Fingers crossed!

    Two Days Post-Op

I agree with bunny. I hardly had any incision pain, only pain on the inside. I stopped the pain meds on day 4 or 5, can't remember. I did get a few bruises from the shots but nothing serious.

    After Surgery?

I started walking a few hours after my surgery. It really helped with the gas and getting back to normal. I had a rough few days but I felt drastically different on Day Five. I quit all pain meds on Day Five. I went grocery shopping on Day Six (about 1 hour) and felt pretty tired afterwards. I went Christmas Shopping on Day Seven (about 3 hours) and felt okay. In my personal experience, I feel almost back to normal after just one week
  14. I feel a little discouraged about my sleeve since I have yet to feel ”full” or satisfied after a meal. As a matter of fact, I woke up from surgery STARVING! It's five days now and i'm eating 4 Oz per meal, like instructed. Every time I take a bite or drink of something, my stomach gets super bubbly and I get a hunger pain with each sip. I'm also still starving after I finish my meal. Is this normal? Does it get easier? Should I try to eat a little more or continue to starve?

Yes they did the single incision and I love it! All of the nurses were very impressed! Dr. Guske really is a genius!

    Two Days Post-Op

Thank you everyone, you've all helped so much! The gas is slowly getting better but i'm having a little trouble eating. I feel hunger pains all day and every time I take a bite of something or drink a sip of water, it feels like my stomach goes crazy and attacks it. Then I get a very sharp hunger pain with each sip. Is this just gas? Please help!
  20. After being on this site for a few months, I've noticed that there are so many different post-op diets given by different doctors. Does anyone know why the phases are different with each surgeon? Example: My physician suggested that 2 weeks liquid, 2 weeks mushy, 2 weeks soft food, then regular food on an individual basis. However, I've been reading about other people starting the mushy stage on week 1 and eating soft food after week 2. What's the deciding factor?

Why Aren't All Post-Op Diets The Same?

My surgery is tomorrow so I'm still pre-op. I was just curious to see if anyone knows why things are so different with each surgeon. Thanks for sharing!
  22. Hello all, I am scheduled for surgery at 7:30am. I have been waiting for this day for so long and now I can't believe it's here! I'm super nervous Anyway, I took the liquid magnesium this afternoon around 12pm. It has been 6 hours and I still have yet to use the bathroom. The only symptom I've had is nausea but that's it! Is this not working? What happens if I don't "go?" Has anyone experienced this? P.S. The taste of the magnesium actually wasn't too bad. I have a very weak stomach and a horrible gag reflex but I was able to get the full bottle down with no problem. It just tasted like a super salty cherry 7up....totally tolerable

    Liquid Magnesium Not Working....?!
