At pretty much exactly 4 months my weight loss suddenly stopped to. After a one month stall I dropped 10 lbs pretty fast.

Facial features change after weight loss?
All of your photos are very beautiful! My changes are that I now have lines and wrinkles that weren't visible before due to the extra fat. Not quite so much fun.

Going Out to Eat Tonight
For those of you who are pre-op or newly post op, don't fear a lifetime of never, ever again being able to eat out. Tonight I am heading to a Mexican restaurant. I actually eat out fairly often. I will order something that I want to eat and I will really enjoy whatever I order. However, I will consider healthier alternatives. I won't need to eat a half of a basket of chips before my food even arrives. I lost 75 lbs within the first 5 months and my weight has pretty much found a set point at 145 lbs. I still have 20 more lbs to go to goal, but at 7 months out now, I have a lifetime left to get there. I have not lost any weight in the last 6 weeks an that is ok. There is no emergency rush to get to some point at light speed. It will be a lifetime of balance from now on. It is VERY doable with vsg. You CAN and will find a balance between being more mindful of food options and a normal lifestyle. Food funerals really aren't necessary. You will eat again You will enjoy food again. You may find that you have different preferences and that foods you previously were addicted to are no longer nearly as tempting.

I'm one month post-opand is struggling.
I stayed behind my advised schedule and if I ate something that didn't feel good, I stopped it. 4-8 weeks out, don't eat anything that feels wrong. If you go a little longer on liquids or super soft and mushy foods, that is perfectly fine. Just make sure to get your protein and liquids in.

Giving Up
I'm in a six week stall right now after 7 months. Its ok to me. I have lost a lot and feel so much better. I have 20-30 lbs to go. It may happen, it may not. Whatever the outcome, I am significantly better off than I was before. Don't measure your progress with that of others. It is about you, not how you compare to everyone else.

Giving Up
6 weeks is very, very early out. You are working through a lifetime of issues with food and weight challenges. Vsg isn't a race or a bandaid. It isn't a cure. Every person's experience and outcome is different. So what if it takes years instead of this? You will never get to eat as you did before, so there isn't a timer and won't ever be a chance for you to return to your old ways. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Feeling awkward when people ask how much weight I lost
I remember an old response shared by Ann Landers when it comes to nosey questions. Whenever you are asked one, just reply, "Why do you ask?" It usually throws people off so much that they realize it was an impolite question.

Ugh. Nachos For Supper. Need advice!
In my desk drawer I have Ostrim, 70 calorie chicken single serving chicken soup, 0 calorie pickle snacks, packets of tuna, canned chicken, and sometimes even crackers, though I try to limit those since they are a weakness.

Grocery list
Sugar free popsicles, baby food, broth, pea soup, apple sauce, shakes, skim milk, low cal juice (dilute it), Greek yogurt, kefir, ...geez...don't even remember some of the things. Don't rush anything.

Feeling awkward when people ask how much weight I lost
None of their business, period. You have no obligation to tell them. They are not entitled to know anything that you do not want to share. DO NOT feel pressured or bullied into saying anything you don't want to. As I have said here SO many times before, it is not deception, it is privacy, which is your right. I even had someone ask me about two weeks ago if I was sick with some deadly disease. I wasn't wearing makeup that day, so I must have been looking especially rough. I only tell those that I want to tell and when I want to tell them. My life and choices belong to me and nobody else.

Sushi!
Try broiling it with mustard. It is better than it sounds!
-
Sushi!
Go with sashimi and edamame and miso soup. A lot of sushi rolls have mayo in them, and sugar added to the rice mixture. If you do eat a sushi roll or nigiri, try to pass off half of the rice to a side plate.

Ugh. Nachos For Supper. Need advice!
I just had the same situation tonight. I had some Doritos, dip, salad, chicken enchiladas, and angel food cake with fresh strawberries. No other options in this situation. None of it went down well and I was miserable for about an hour, even though I ate little of it. I have recommitted to logging in myfitnesspal.com again, so I'll do that tonight. I'm finding that, even with these indulgences, I'm still under 1,200 calories for any day. I should be losing, but I'm maintaining.

hair loss
-75 lbs in 7 months. I started shedding at around 4 months...heavily. Luckily I had extremely thick hair. Or not luckily because my hair is everywhere all of the time. It has finally slowed and I have some new growth starting in that is wispy. It is just part of the process for many of us and fortunately, only temporary.

Tactics for Eating at Buffets
I will not go to a buffet at all. I don't miss them. However, I do eat out a lot.

Failing
I need to do a total detox, too. I've let a few things creep back into my diet and I am snacking way too much. I have been stuck at the same weight for around two months now (at 7 months out -75 lbs). Actually, I am up 3 lbs. I have about 20-30 lbs to goal, which I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to maintain if I get there. There are certainly challenges that I had not anticipated, but they aren't unique. I "know" what to do but feel frozen for the moment. Extreme stress going on in other areas of life is getting all of my attention and I'm not focusing on taking care of me. Nothing easy about this project.

Almost 4 months and stall... Advice.
I had a 4-6 ish week stall at 4 months. It wasn't the end of the world. This is for a lifetime now, not a race. It would be crazy for your body to continue extreme weight loss consistently over a long period of time. The body wants to protect itself from death. It will certainly slow down the further you get out. I have had to reconcile this as well.

Coffee talk
I quit coffee after surgery and didn't have any for a few weeks. Then I drank decaf for about a week, then half caf for about two weeks. After that I allowed myself one cup each morning. Now I have 1-2 cups each morning. On Saturday and Sunday mornings I probably drink 4-5 cups. It does not stimulate my hunger. In fact, quite the opposite. Coffee is acidic, so it may "feel" like hunger. Taking a PPI moderates this for me. I have found that there are some coffee blends that are extremely acidic and I try to avoid those. I have a Keurig at home and a small one at work.

Well I finally give up¡!
I just walked through my den and caught my reflection in the mirror. My jawline is there, my cheeks have hollows, my shoulders are squared, ....but I have been 145-148 pretty much for a month and a half now. I still have 20-30 more lbs to lose and it isn't happening right now. Yes, I have slacked and am not as compliant as before. I don't exercise and I feel some shame. Sometimes I am down and feel like a total failure, even though I've lost about 75 lbs. And it is OK to have those feelings! Feelings are good! So is a long-term commitment. Don't beat yourself up because of what you haven't done. Rejoice and Celebrate what you HAVE accomplished. It is good. Some people like to call this a journey. That's fine. It's theirs to call whatever they want. I call it engagement in a process. It is ongoing and necessitates some introspection and reflection. There are a lot of things that need to be addressed. Internal dialogue is one of them, especially if it is mostly negative. Eating emotions is another. Good choices, too. But also how you handle rough spots and personal dissapointments. You are in good company here. From the outside looking towards others, it may appear that some are hugely successful and a few even seem almost perfect. That really isn't the case. Most all of us have struggles specific to our own process. Be gentle with yourself. Love yourself. Allow yourself to be imperfect. Don't measure yourself by others. Measure yourself by where you've been and where you are now, as well as by small goals that you establish for yourself that work well for you.

Fatigue
Iron? Be sure to get that, too. You need iron supplements. Without them you are going to be zoinked.

Well I finally give up¡!
It isn't a race so there is no specific time frame and no huge finish line. It is about health and looking/feeling better. If you are down 25lbs, then I am going to just guess that you probably look and feel better? What is your hurry? There really isn't one. It is something made up in your head. Where will you be in 12 months? 18 months? 2 years? You don't need to give up because there has been no failure.

Starting Diva's Boot Camp today!
I'm going into 7 months with 75 ish lbs lost and about 20 -25 to go. I have fallen off track, too and have hit a set point around 145-148 lbs. I've been wondering when I will get my head in gear and get motivated to kick my own butt. I guess the semester winding down with grad classes and big changes at work are presenting challenges that have seriously derailed my focus. Congratulations to you for taking back your control!
