How much are you down?
My doctor didn't tell me my goal. I just happened to find out when I asked the nurse who was weighing me why she said I had lost a certain percentage of my weight to a goal and I knew I hadn't told her my goal. I asked her how did she come up with the number. She said that there is a guide that they use. It is 14 lbs more than the more common formula of 100 lbs for 5' tall and 5 more lbs for each inch over that.

How much are you down?
I've lost 48 lbs. with 56 to go to get to my goal weight, and 42 lbs. left to get to my doctor's goal. Progress has been really great though there have been stalls as expected. Sometimes I worry that I won't make it to goal, or even near it. It's almost like so far it has been too good to be true and the dream will end just like past diets resulted in regain plus extra. I still get tempted, still crave things I shouldn't eat and sometimes I indulge, I skip exercise more than I should.

Muscle vs Fat
These are all photos of the same girl. Photo #1 - 123 pounds Photo #2 - 132 pounds Photo #3 - 137 pounds There is a 14 pound difference between Photo #1 and Photo #3, yet it looks like she weighs 14 lbs LESS in the Photo #3 than in the first one. Her percentage of body fat is much higher in the first photo than in the last. This is even more evidence that exercise has benefits that you can get in no other way. Also, more muscle requires more energy, so you can eat more and burn calories faster.

I am a lazy eater: an emotional food disorder post
I can relate somewhat. I have been grabbing cooked rotisserie chickens from the grocery instead of cooking them myself. The ones that you get already cooked have the skin on and probably have more fat in the meat since it soaks in from the skin. I have been weaning off of the Protein drinks, but I'll still just grab a Muscle Milk light from the fridge instead of cooking an egg or oatmeal. For lunch I'll just eat Greek Yogurt instead of preparing something. Sometimes supper is a random pot luck from the refrigerator that yields quick combinations like cheese, pickles, nuts and some Goldfish crackers. I had never thought about it before as being lazy, but I suppose that is pretty accurate. Any level of success I ever had with a diet involved as little effort to prepare food as possible. Like Slimfast. The only exception to that was when I did Body for Life, but I would prepare a lot of food at once and eat it for the week.

Nobody seems to be addressing my ADDICTION to food...
I had to go through one too and it was a very strange experience. We discussed my support systems with friends and family and who cooks at home and what do we cook. We talked about my history of diets since I was very young. We talked about my job and if I drank alcohol, my education, exercise habits, etc. But we never discussed food as an addiction. He did ask how I planned on handling food choices when I traveled for work. The head part of this whole thing is huge. I have been very successful so far since surgery, though I have eaten things I knew weren't good choices now and then. Yesterday at work I suddenly found myself in the kitchen looking for something sweet to eat because I had this sudden craving. I wasn't hungry at all. There was some toffee popcorn and I ate several pieces of it then I got myself the heck out of there. Then I wished that I hadn't done it. The great thing about the sleeve is that it minimized the calorie damage since there is no way I can slam down food like I once did.

This has actually been discussed a lot in various forums. Just about everyone here is a food addict. We all didn't get to be obese because of slow metabolism or thyroid problems. And yet there is a great deal of success post op. Having strategies and plans in place are a huge asset in the process.

It looks like that site has been mega bombed by porn sites and fake luxury good sellers.

Five things no one every told me how to deal with
Well..this one is not as much fun as some of the others ... I bought a new hat for winter a few days ago. I thought it was cute and sassy. I took a photo of myself wearing it, no makeup, big smile. When I looked at the photo I was shocked. I mean really, really shocked. I have never really had any facial wrinkles before because there was so much fat in my face. Well, after close to 50 lbs of weight loss, there they are. Crows feet, under eyes, across cheeks,...and more crow's feet. Especially with the crow's feet. I have 56 lbs to go to meet my goal weight. I guess that I'll just start collecting these wherever they surface.

Same here. Every time I turn around I'm having to cull things out of my closet. Now I'm down to the smallest size I have in my wardrobe, 14, and after that I have nothing. ...and I'm not even half way through to my goal weight! So far I've removed size 20, 18, 16 pants, dresses, sweaters and tops.

Down 41lb since surgery as of this morning.

Anyone disappointed?
I'm really happy with my results so far. And I can say that I've gotten out of it what I've put into it. I just want to maintain consistency. Stalls don't bother me, they are part of what is expected.

Chia....
I know that some people like to do this, but I can't stand the texture after they have absorbed water. For whatever reason, I don't mind it that much when they still have a bit of a crunch and have just absorbed a little bit of the moisture from the food I mix it in.

Jealous boyfriend cannot handle my weight loss!
I love how you pretty much sum it all up in those words and it gives a very distinct mental image.

Chia....
...mmm...yeah... I don't think I could choke that down either.
-
Chia....
That is a LOT of chia in there! Way more than I would ever use. But then that's me. I had some chia in my Greek yogurt this morning. Probably 1/4 of a teaspoon.

Disloyal
That is a unique viewpoint and worth a philosophical ponder. Hmmmmmm....

stall stall dear god help
I have started to see a pattern in my stalls and what I do when they break. Changing the type and intensity of exercise (much higher in training zone bpm for heart rate) and doubling the time one day, skip a day, then again, is like putting jumper cables on my stalls. Not sure if it will work for you, but worth trying to see what happens in the few days after.

Jealous boyfriend cannot handle my weight loss!
The worst relationship I have ever been in sounds a whole lot like this one. I thought I was so in love and could not think of us not being together. Almost one year after our break-up, I look back and can't believe what I put up with and how unhealthy that relationship was. I am SO HAPPY to have moved on.

Hair Loss After Surgery
Week 11 and I'm getting to join the hair loss club. When it started breaking about two weeks ago I just thought it was due to me using a straightening Iron every day. But tonight in the shower, as I was running the shampoo through my hair, I was shedding like crazy and it just kept on coming out. It would be cool for someone to make an infographic time-line of post-op vsg.

Jealous boyfriend cannot handle my weight loss!
Wow! That is a lot of thinking you have been doing. He does sound immature, insecure, controlling and selfish. Perhaps even dependent. There is always an exception, but for the most part, people are who they are and don't change all that much no matter what you do. Yes, you are very young and you should enjoy your youth before it fades away.
