November 19Th- Officially
Gas-X helped me somewhat. I also found that laying on my side with belly supported by pillow underneath almost always released some gas. LOL Hey, whatever works. Today I actually am starting to feel a little normal again. Incisions still sore but Tylenol actually helps more than Dilaudid. Go figure. We will persevere, ladies!! Happy Turkey Day (as I sip my chicken soup...)

Dumb Question Time- When Can I Drive, Post Op?
They said I could drive as long as I was comfortable and not taking pain meds. I was sleeved on Monday. i picked up the kids from school today (a five minute drive) and I have to say i might wait a few more days until driving again. I was pretty sore.

Anyone Out There Cold After Getting Sleeved?
Was sleeved on Monday. Ever since I find myself being kinda cold all the time. Is this normal? I'm usually sweating. Lol

Why Lie?!?!
I was sleeved on Monday. I told a few people, like my immediate family, two close friends and cousin. The reactions have been mixed. Some friends said "oooh, that scares me", "that's not for me" and the best was: "get used to throwing up all the time." HA! People are so uninformed. I might tell other people and co-workers in time, but for now, if confronted, I will say it's a major lifestyle change (which is the truth)

November 19Th- Officially
Oh Sel, I will pray for you. Pain is kinda bad here but I have Dilaudid to take the edge off. Works meh. The car ride home was awful due to bumps. Still have major gas pain and not really getting rid of it. One thing that does help is walking, but if you have a bit of a belly, make sure it is supported from underneath. Check in tmro so we know how ur doing. I hear that things start to improve on the third day maybe that will be our day.

Shopping
I have been collecting smaller sizes since September (tomorrow is my surgery). I've gone only to garage sales and consignment shops. With the exception of 3 items (a dress, a suit jacket and a suit), I haven't paid more than $3 for anything. A few times I got a whole bag of stuff for $5 (firehouse tag sale and church tag sale) and a number of 50 cent items. And good items, too - there was one sale where a woman was selling a ton of Ann Taylor stuff - for $3 each! I also bought 2 new outdoor jackets. Both of those were $5. I dress up for work every day and can't afford to go out and buy retail for everything as the weight comes off. This way, there's a good amount to choose from now, and I can supplement with a few retail pieces as I need to. IF the urge to shop strikes, remember that handbags, jewelry and scarves always fit!!

Magnesium Citrate - Not Too Bad!
So after reading and hearing from folks how bad this pre-op laxative is, I was dreading it. I went to Target and bought the lemon flavored 10 oz. liquid in a glass bottle. I refrigerated it and poured it over ice, then drank with a straw. It wasn't terrible, I have to say. I highly recommend this if you are going to be using this before surgery. And I think it was $2.99. Now the wait begins...lol

8 Weeks Down Feel Like 40 Isnt Enough. I Am Sad
WOW, 40 is awesome. AWESOME. Think back to before your sleeve. Pretend you did any conventional diet of your choice. Would there be ANY WAY that you would have been down 40 in 8 weeks on a DIET? Heck no!! So this is sweet sweet victory. You have lost a small child. Next time you see a 4 or 5 year old, worm your way over, pick that kid up and rejoice!!!

Goals
Welllll, in addition to the obvious health benefits, i Can't wait to shop for cute small clothes! I even ordered a pair of summer sandals a half size smaller. No more Fred Flintstone feet, hopefully...

Alright, It's A Little Catty, But...
The girls at work are in no way a problem now. I work in a company with a very conservative culture and although they are in my department, I do not work with them. So no issues now. It's just people here are very health conscious and while there has never been an outward word said, I am sure there is a bit of a hairy eyeball cast now and then at the big girl going bumba, bumba down the hall. I have not told anyone except for 2 people (not in my department) the real reason for the surgery. They think I am having gallbladder surgery. I like a little bit of mystery...let them wonder what is happening. I mean, it's not like I am not coming back after two weeks weighing 120.

Alright, It's A Little Catty, But...
I am having my surgery on Monday. I know it's going to be a totaly lifestyle change but I am so excited (for me and for all the other sleevesters with me this month!!) I can't wait for better health, dropping those pesky diabetes & HBP meds, and feeling really good. And yes, if I do say so myself, I am looking forward to (EVENTUALLY) giving the hot girls at work a run for their money!!

What Happened To Me? It Was Scary!
The same thing happened to me after I had my son almost 11 years ago. Days of extreme shivering, teeth chattering and could not get warm for anything. I drank so much hot tea I should have stock in Lipton. Tried 2 different antibiotics t which didn't work and wound up going to the ER on Christmas eve. Turns out I had pneumonia and needed IV antibiotics. So I agree with amw157 about a possible infection. Glad you are ok now!!

Dang Hurricane Sandy, Can't Get In Touch With My Doctor
Parts of NJ have been hit pretty hard by Hurricane Sandy and some means of communication have been affected. I have been calling all week to see if my surgery was submitted for insurance approval but can't get through (its scheduled for 11/19). I just got back online tonight and will email them tomorrow. I just hope it's still on track...

Telling Your Boss Your Having Surgery..
I've told them I haven't been feeling well lately and that my doctor suspects gallbladder issues. They know I've had doctor appts, had bloodwork and EGD, which would be done if it were gallbladder. I've then said I think I have to have surgery and that I'm just waiting on confirmation/surgery date from the dr.
