Strange dreams post-op
I've always been an extreme dreamer. I know I could give Stephen King a run for his title if i coud write out my weird long drams that tend to make no sense in relations with my life. It's also probably why I get very little good sleep. After surgery was full of more than my "normal" weird dreaming. No clue what the correlation is

Long term PPI usage
Yeah.. I just figure I'll be on it for years to come. Oh well

Band/Sleeve Conversion
Surgery for removal was as easy as when I got sleeved. No pain or issues.. And I've had some major band complications. I believe as long as you wait until your healed there's no difference with the surgeries.
-
2 different surgeons, 2 different options?
Surgeons have good reason to do it in 1 or 2 sugeries. Sometimes its the only safe way. I had to wait 18 months to heal and if my dr did it in one... no doubt I would have had many complications and a very difficult recovery.. if I recovered at all.

Not being able to eat meat...
I had it once. I ate too much and too quickly and learned my lesson. It was the worst feeling. Like you say..as if you had the flu. May want to hold off with meats for another week or so until you get used to eating slower or less. When you eat meat/protein you won't be able to eat anywhere near as much as what you do with other foods

weight gained back
This was told to your friend by someone who makes a lot of money from maintaining lapbands?

protein bars = depression?
I'm guessing it depends what your protein bars are made of. Most are not good for you and full of sugar and carbs. Perhaps that's what your body. Is reacting to. A lot of people only use bars if they can't get their protein from the natural source. Should never be consumed on a daily basis

Seeking group input!
To alleviate here say ... all a person needs to do is contact the facility(s) and it's on record whether a particular surgeon has or does not have privileges at their facility. It's a simple step and can help ease a patients mind when having doubt about a surgeons actions

Now I know exactly what my PPI does....
You're lucky.. It only took me 1/2 a day to realized I missed my dose. It wasn't hunger, but pain. Won't be forgetting it again
-
Seeking group input!
If you're interested in a particular facility you have to contact them and ask if a particular surgeon has practicing privileges with them. It's public knowledge and they will tell you... They also tell you, if its the case, why he no has privileges at the facility. I know in the past, Dr Kelly had practicing privileges at INT, Florence and MI.. but no longer. He currently uses NOVA.

Can't sleep. I hate this band.
You will feel like a new person with a revision and at the worst at least your dreadful band will be gone. Get the nasty thing out I love my sleeve and it's the best. Good luck and sweet dreams when you get there
-
Well it happened
Heh.. Sometimes the best thing to do is ignore it and it will go away.
-
What is it that you hate the most about being sleeved.
I dont hate anything. Even the hair loss is something I don't take negatively. The sleeve has been my lifeline to such a better life. So I just don't dwell on my hair. I'm very fortunate and have not had any issues what so ever.

my date need to hurry up gaining weight like crazy
Lucky you.. I gained 86 lbs between band and sleeve. I'm so embarassed at how pigthetic I was. Ugh.. Never again!

I need help!
Sorry to hear all you've and your mom went though today. Glad she's ok and recovering. As soon as you mentioned ulcers I figure that was what the time in the OR was being dictated by. A major reasoni had to wait 18 months to be sleeved was due to ulcerations. They originally removed as much as they could and stopped the bleeding, but there was no way they would sleeve on such an ulcer mess. When they removed my band and cleaned things up it was a 5 hour surgery. (of course I coded so that probably took up some time too ) I'm happy your mom's surgeon knew not to proceed with the sleeve.. It's the best for your moms health. When she's healthier she will have a much greater chance of a complication free recovery when being sleeved {{{ hugs to you both}}}

Im dying for some spaghetti! Some sauce recipes please?
Even adding herbs would be non liquids. Tiny minute things can adhere to the staple line and irritate it or lodge. Follow the diet stages and you'll be eating with others in no time. Don't invite issues by straying away from your guidelines
-
question
Yes.. Just while in hospital and until final leak test. This is an extra precaution that some surgeon do to check for leaks and excessive internal bleeding.
