  1. Fascinating place and so glad to see you on the forum. Welcome!
  2. Sexyslim got one thing right in her comment about our country, anyway. "People should just do everything in the US. We are #1 in everything. Yeah!" We could all benefit from the knowledge that we are free to voice our opinions in all ways. You can't do that in some other countries. Unless I'm wrong...Sexy?
  3. It definitely sounds like you are not ready. Stick with liquids or try pureeing what you are trying to eat.
  4. It has been documented that watching YouTube videos actually kills brain cells. I only saw this on the news, they were probably lying.
  5. That is bad news but it is surprising that it doesn't happen more often for us women, especially the ones among us who are heavy monthly bleeders, that lowers our iron a lot. Good luck to you and eat a lot of spinach!
  6. That's great and after all that, the best part is only one day of liquid diet preop. We should all be so lucky!
  7. Holy cow, you mean tomorrow? That's awesome and kind of scary if you know what I mean. Tons of good wishes to you.
  8. I was going to say try the broth, but someone said they are sick of it (lol). I guess whatever you are restricted to, is what you are sick of !
  9. Kaiser seems to be very uncooperative. You hear negative stuff about them all the time.
  10. And we won't. But your statement works both ways, Cheri. You are preaching to the choir. We all feel as you do. Most topics are posted to get opinions and that is what we all post, including you, because that is what is requested. I stated why I wouldn't go to Mexico and that is my opinion whether others like it or not.
  11. Even though you are "higher income" and you still considered going abroad for your father's care doesn't mean there are better docs in other places. It just means you would have done anything to save your father and you had the means to do it. Most of us don't have that luxury. Most of us are lucky to have insurance these days.
  12. You can't compare the lower number of U.S. citizens who have it done in Mexico to the greater number of us having it done stateside. It is all irrelevant anyway. There are good stories and bad from both countries. I personally would not have a surgery done in a country where I can't drink the Water. If that is prejudice, then so be it.
  13. So, NORCALRN, are you saying Mexico was a bad choice for you?
  14. I agree, LeahMae, about the shakes. I didn't mind them before, thought they were kind of good. Now they are too sweet and oh so hard to get down. I am on a preop diet also. Right now I don't have a date but we are doing two shakes a day and one substitute meal, like Healthy Choice, etc., it has to be -300 cals and are actually really good. When I get my date, I'll have to switch to all shakes and I don't want them. There is the high Protein chicken broth that I think I am going to ask if I can have that instead. Warm and non-sweet will be far better to swallow! Good luck to all of us!
  15. Most of us have to do a liquid diet two weeks before the surgery. I don't have my date yet, I know it will be soon. I am on high Protein shake for Breakfast and lunch, a 300 calorie frozen meal substitute, like Healthy Choice, which are really good by the way. A snack from a list the NUT gave me and I can have up to two cups of fresh vegis. The shakes are around 160 cal each. Maybe I'm getting 750 cals a day. I have to lose 14 pounds from my weigh-in weight. Being strict, I can do it. By the way, you are gorgeous and so are the kids. Good luck!
  16. aacooper, thanks for responding. I am still waiting for approval, but expect it any day, so I'll be this month as well. Good luck to us. Who is your surgeon?
  17. Good luck, girls. Couple of weeks for me. See you there!
  18. Dinora7, that is truly outstanding. A size 6! I wore a size 6X in first grade, does that count?
  19. Jennabelle, if that is you in your profile pic, you look FABULOUS! Dump those clothes.
  20. That is crazy. We have to be put under for the surgery. I'm glad I only had the upper GI test. Every time we are put under general anesthesia, we are at risk for complications, but besides that, I only had to pay $42 for my out if pocket cost for the upper GI. That's easier to swallow! Sorry...pun intended
