  1. The all liquid diet pre op is also to transition you to post op life. You can't have food for a while after surgery.
  2. Jessica, no insurance issues with having in January? I always wonder when I see January dates now. My insurance changes every January 1 so I have to have my surgery before the end of the year.
  3. OMG, BeGuiled, I just looked at your profile. I am from West Haven, even though I live in Nevada now. That's awesome, where do you live?
  4. Sorry, preyaa, I see your liquid diet now that I really paid attention. Mine is five high Protein shakes a day (they are 160 calories each) and I can add up to two cups of fresh raw vegetables, if I want to.
  5. Just a few more days. You can do it! What is your liquid diet like?
  6. Mel, thanks, that's what I'm doing! Thanks, simplejaxgirl. How was your surgery?
  7. Hey, there! I'm 53 as of a week ago. Just found out today that insurance approved my surgery so I should be having it before the end of this month. My 22 year old son is having it with me the same day. We started this journey together and he is doing so well. He has already lost over 30 pounds. I haven't tried too hard, I've only lost 5 pounds, but that's ok. We should start the liquid phase in the next day or so and it has to go two weeks. I will post back with a surgery date. Keep posting!
  8. Carise, you have beautiful children. Good luck to you!
  9. I feel ya! Mine's comin'. Good luck today.
  10. My surgeon's office submitted our files the week of 11/30. Insurance (United Healthcare) called them on that Friday and said they were missing my 5 year weight history. So I scrambled and it was sent in. That was the last I heard. So today I decided to call the insurance myself and see what they said and it was approved on December 4! So why didn't the surgeon's office call me about that little tidbit? Anyway, I just put a call in to the their patient advocate to see what he has to say. I had to leave a voice mail. So waiting again for a surgery date. The insurance agent said the date they had was December 20, but I'm guessing that was just a shot in the dark date. That doesn't give us enough time to do the two week liquid diet the surgeon requires of his patients. But, yay, we were approved!

  12. Awesome results. Very happy for you and your family.
  13. Becky, you sound like you have it all together. I like your stat listing. How tall are you? I take Paxil which also causes weight gain so I know how you feel. My son is 22 and he is having the sleeve with me this month also. Congrats and good luck.
  14. BrickHouse, your story was very moving and inspiring. So glad they got all the cancer. Hopefully your chemo therapy goes well for you and you can continue to work towards your sleeve. Best wishes to you.
  15. I don't mean anything by this, but, do you really mean hiatal hernia or a surgical hernia somewhere else in your abdomen? I ask only because it is virtually unheard of for a bariatric surgeon to not repair a hiatal hernia while working on your stomach. Hiatal hernia occurs at the connection between the esophagus and the stomach.
  16. That's fabulous, congrats! I'm waiting for my approval so mine should be this month, as well. Good luck to us!
