  1. My kids say things like that too at times and they don't mean to be hurtful. They are just concerned about me and love me. It's a good thing for them to know not to eat too much cotton candy. :-) My son asked me if my surgery will make me lose weight in my fingers because they are chubby. lol. I think he assumes I'll be skinny when I come home from surgery.
  2. I would go to the doctor. Unexplained bleeding can be a sign of different problems or it could be nothing. I don't think it was your hymen though, since you had already had sex a couple times before. I hope everything turns out ok. Take care. :-)
  3. I saw the surgeon today. It went well. I was weighed and my height was measured. I have to do a 3 month supervised diet with their dietician. It's not required by my insurance but the doctor requires it because they are a center of excellence. I'm actually glad he is requiring it, even though I've been impatient until now. I need this time to get ready. He is going to scope me so he can get a good look at my hiatal hernia. I also have to do a sleep study because I think I have sleep apnea. And he gave me a paper to give my PCP for a bunch of blood tests. I will have to have a psych eval. I have and appointment next month to see the NUT. I had to talk with the exercise coordinator. She measured me and talked to me about exercises. I have to log my exercises and bring it to my next visit. She gave me a stretchy band to use for strength training. The surgeon talked to me about the surgery for a long time and explained all about it. I asked questions and he answered them all. He was very friendly and likeable. He put me at ease. Before I went in, while I was sitting in the waiting room, I was like "What am I doing??" I was thinking about leaving. But Dr Shin put me at ease. He said that I will probably get sleeved in December. I'm excited and nervous! Sorry if none of this makes sense. I'm very tired. I only slept 30 minutes last night. :-/
  4. Really cool. There's nobody for my height/weight. Maybe I should submit my photo.
  5. Tell them you're on a new diet that only allows liquid for a few days. Or tell them you're not feeling well and need to be on fluids for a few days. Tell them you think you're coming down with something and have no appetite.
  6. I heard that its not really hunger pains but excess acid. If you take antacids, it will subside. But what do I know? I'm pre-surgery. lol
  7. I did it too when I first made my decision. But I couldn't stand myself so I stopped. Now I eat just normally. But after my first appointment with the surgeon tomorrow (and he records my weight) I think I'm going to start eating better and exercising so that whenever I have surgery I will bounce back quicker and have better habits than I do now.
  8. My SIL who has the same insurance as me (our hubbies work together) only paid a $12 copay and that was all she paid for the entire surgery. I'm assuming mine will be the same.
  9. I'm excited and nervous! LOL I'm probably silly for being nervous but this is the first big step in a major life changing event. I've been researching everything and I guess my biggest concern right now is that my insurance will have some time consuming requirements. I have a printout of the policy reguarding vsg. I'm just hoping its accurate. If so, I won't have to do a six month diet. I will update after my appointment tomorrow! :-D
  10. First of all, I like your screen name! Cute! I haven't been sleeved yet but I did have my gall bladder removed a couple years ago. My symptoms were intense dull pain in the center of my stomach up high near the ribs and also on my right side up high. It was dull but also sharp pains would come and go. It was very painful and would keep me awake all night. Nothing would relieve the pain... No antacid, pain reliever or anything until I had my gall bladder removed. No problems since.
  11. Fudgesicles are included in my stage 1 post op diet.
  12. My surgeon is 2 and a half hours away. height : 5 ft, weight: 270, BMI: 53 Cant wait to get sleeved!
  13. Hi there! Glad to hear you are well on your way. I'm still waiting for my first consult with the surgeon (Sept 11). I also have BCBS. Did you get a checklist of what they require? I know it varies from state to state but was wondering what yours requires. I've heard of some people who have BCBS who have to do a dr supervised diet for six months plus a lot of other things but I think mine is more simple, according to what I read about my plan. Hopefully you wont have to jump through any hoops and you get your surgery soon! height : 5 ft, weight: 270, BMI: 53 Cant wait to get sleeved!
  14. I ate like crazy the week I made my decision too. Finally got control of myself!! My first appointment with the surgeon is September 11. height : 5 ft, weight: 270, BMI: 53 Cant wait to get sleeved!
  15. Sending prayers and positive thoughts!! height : 5 ft, weight: 270, BMI: 53 Cant wait to get sleeved!
  16. I am a mom to five kids. :-) height : 5 ft, weight: 270, BMI: 53 Cant wait to get sleeved!
  17. I will be having my surgery in Charleston, WV. Anyone else nearby? height : 5 ft, weight: 270, BMI: 53 Cant wait to get sleeved!
  18. I know how you feel. I am still waiting on my first appointment. It will be Sept. 11. I feel like my health is at risk. I already have a few comorbidities and I know more are on their way if I don't do something about my weight. I have tried to lose weight many times through my whole adult life and have had a little success here and there but always gained it all back plus more. I need to do something different, something that will help me succeed for real. I really believe that if I don't lose this weight soon, I am going to die. So, for me, the risks of not having the surgery are far greater than having it. This is a very personal decision, so I wish you the best while you research and pray. height : 5 ft, weight: 270, BMI: 53 Cant wait to get sleeved!
  19. Good luck and positive vibes to you! height : 5 ft, weight: 270, BMI: 53 Cant wait to get sleeved!
  20. Thanks. I appreciate the good info. I'm excited about starting this process. I will somehow talk to my sister in law and share your stories. I hear way more positive stories than negative! height : 5 ft, weight: 270, BMI: 53 Cant wait to get sleeved!
  21. My BMI is 52.5. I wonder if I will be able to have laparoscopy. I still haven't seen my surgeon. I will have to ask him. height : 5 ft, weight: 270, BMI: 53 Cant wait to get sleeved!
  22. Thank you all for your responses. Maybe when I have my surgery, she will think about having it. She has pretty much given up. She stays in her bed most of the time and has lost feeling in her feet because of diabetes. I think she has forgotten that she can be any other way. When she leaves her house she is in a wheelchair. She's never been in my house because she can't walk up the four steps to my porch. I hate that her life has become this way but I can't make her do it. I'm hoping that she will see me do well with the surgery and she will decide to do it too. Our other sister in law was sleeved a year ago and she's lost over 100 lbs and looks and feels great. I think her BMI was in the 40's at first. I'm happy to hear that others who are similar to her size have been sleeved with success. :-) height : 5 ft, weight: 270, BMI: 53 Cant wait to get sleeved!
  23. I'm just asking this because I'm curious. My sister in law and I are very close and we are both obese. She is a lot bigger than I am. (I'm estimating she may weigh over 600 lbs) She knows I'm thinking about this surgery but she said she can't have it because she is too big. She said she was told she had to lose a lot of weight before she could have it. Granted, it's been a few years since she talked to a doctor about it. And I think she was talking about gastric bypass. Has anyone heard of being too big to have WLS? height : 5 ft, weight: 270, BMI: 53 Cant wait to get sleeved!
