  1. I came very close to throwing up during my leak test, but I haven't thrown up since my surgery on Valentines day.
  2. There is nothing wrong with that. A loser is a loser!
  3. Very nice! I'm looking forward to posting some pictures soon.
  4. Dr. Kim and his staff are the best! You will not be disappointed.
  5. I used to be like that. I haven't eaten at a restaurant since my preop diet. If we go out, it involves the food bar at whole foods and a tiny amount of food. My kids get pizza and my wife gets whatever.
  6. The pants are 32" inseam casual pants. Shorts and jeans are various brands. I live in 75025 and work near DFW airport can ship if you want to pay shipping costs.
  7. Another big NSV today. I bought my third wardrobe since 1/31. I went from 52 inch jeans to 40 inch and 3XLT shirts to 1XLT. I'll probably be at 34 or 36 inch pants and LT shirts when I hit my goal.
  8. I would do more calories than that. Consult your doctor, but I would guess that an absolute minimum for an average person is 1200-1300. Preop dieting is a different situation, but with that activity level you need more calories.
  9. Outstanding. Just take one day at a time for now. Things will get much easier over time. Congrats!
  10. I would take a cooler with some RTD protein shakes, some greek yogurt, maybe some ricotta and/or cottage cheese.
  11. I hit 317 this morning. I started the preop diet at 397 and was 377 for surgery on Valentines Day. I feel great, and I'm looking forward to hitting the 200's. Then I'll be in the right century!
  12. Really nothing has changed other than my weight and the fact that I can't eat much anymore. My bathroom habits are the same. I don't have acid reflux or heartburn. Everything is exactly like before with bodily function. This is what sold me on VSG vs gastric bypass, DS (what my surgeon suggested), and lap band. Doudenel Switch is like a VSG and bypass combined. It would have probably cured by diabetes day one, but it has really bad side effects. From what I've heard, it's like trading one disease for another.
  13. Like everything else in life your mileage may vary. In my case, my tastes are no different than before. The only noticeable change in my taste buds is I crave spicy food more. All of the old Protein tastes the same as before.
  14. Yes the premiers are good. I also like the Eas carb advantage. These are both great ready to drink options. Go to the Vitamin Shoppe or GNC and grab some Nectar samples to mix up at home. RTD shakes are nice, but they are pricey. The advantage of Nectar is it really doesn't have a protein shake taste. Unjury is very similar to Nectar in terms of taste, protein, and calories, but lacks all of the different flavors that Nectar comes in. And one other piece of advice, stir the Nectar and Unjury don't shake unless you want tons of foam.
  15. You nailed it. That's exactly what I was going to say.
  16. unjury is great, but it always seems to clump up bad. nectar is very similar to Unjury in terms of Protein, taste, and calories. I like the taste of Nectar better. Fuzzy Naval and Caribbean Cooler are two of my favorites. Nectar clumps but not as bad as Unjury IMO. Of course both of them are not shakes! They are more like stirs. You shake them and you will have a foamy mess.
  17. I'm a big dude myself. 6' 6" with a heaviest weight of 430. I never was a big drinker, but more of a big eater. People that have this surgery can still drink, but you have to have a lot less. And I would stay away from beer just because of the carbonation and the problems with the sleeve filling up with the gas. It's just one of those things. You have to stare down your demons and decide who's going to win. We all face this in some way or another. Give up the alcohol if possible. If not, then cut back a lot and ask the doctor how long until you can have some. I can't remember what mine said, but I think it was around 3 months postop.
  18. That's great. I can tell you the most important thing to do is walk as soon as you are stable enough on your feet after surgery. That and burp and fart a lot too :-)
  19. You will do fine. The psych eval for me was nothing. You fill out a bunch of paperwork and meet the psychologist. The person I saw pretty much told me straight up that he wasn't there to try to psychoanalyze me or pick apart my thoughts when I walked into his office. He just went over the paperwork I filled out and told me what to expect, what pitfalls to be aware of, and what to do if you find yourself in trouble. He also talked about other items like your support structure with family and friends and his support group. I walked out of his office starting a good relationship knowing that his door was open if needed in the future. I think this is 90% of the focus of the psych eval. He was really there more for my mental preparation for surgery more than a "yes" or "no" on the surgery. My EGD was done with full sedation. I'm not sure if this common practice or not. I was knocked out for probably 10 minutes or less. I woke up in the recovery room, took two or three good full breaths, got dressed, and then walked out the door with my wife driving. I was back to work 30 minutes later. I felt normal a few hours later. I did two weeks of Protein shakes. The ones I had were purchased (and required) from the doctor and were extremely filling. I dropped nearly 20 pounds in the preop diet phase. This will inspire you to succeed. It will be much easier than you think.
  20. I buy these spicy pumpkin seeds from the whole foods bulk area. They are awesome. I've always loved spicy food, but now I crave it in postop life.
  21. I've had those. They are outstanding. I know of a few recipes off of Pinterest. I would highly recommend joining to find good recipes for WLS.
