wikdwich got a reaction from Red597 in Eating Is So Hard
I'm 4 weeks out and yes, it gets easier... I've actually cried over this food thing... I have to chew and chew and chew and wait and wait and wait... It takes me 20 minutes or so just to eat a little bit of food and then sometimes it feels like it's sitting in the middle of my chest and I have to wait for it to go down... My mom had this done last October and she eats what she wants when she wants... She keeps telling me that this is the hardest time and to just stick with it... It gets better, really...

Today I'm a month and a day out. I'm off my bp meds and my cholesterol meds. I'm down a pants size and feeling pretty good. I started off at 222 and this morning I was 200. I'm so close to onederland I can taste it! I'm so glad I did this. There have been rough days and I still struggle, but the benefits outweigh the drawbacks for me.
Oh, the pic where it's the m ost obvious to me is the one from behind. I never realized I was that wide.

So today we made a run to the store. We left with: stool softener (TMI, I know), cat litter, Oreos (not for me), duct tape, Flintstones vitamins, and shaving cream. I told my husband that the cashier was definitely going to wonder what was going on at our house.

I gained almost 10 pounds while I was in the hospital and had to lose that first. It was very frustrating to come out of the hospital weighing more than when I went in! It'll go. Patience grasshoppa...

wikdwich got a reaction from Neese in Easy Way Out
Anyone who says you took the easy way out obviously knows nothing about this procedure. The easy way out would have been just giving up and accepting we were fat. I watched my mom do this last October and it gave me new respect for the woman. You have to watch Proteins, carbs, fats, your meds, your Calcium, your Vitamins, your liquids... Seriously, how is that easy? Plus, the actual fact that they all but TAKE YOUR STOMACH OUT.
When I hear people say I took the easy way out (and so far no unsuspecting soul has) I'm going to tell them that they don't have a clue as to what they're talking about and my mama told me better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool that to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
