  1. I have my EGD on Monday the 17th. Once that is done I get my date. Barring any issues I should be November 14th or 21st. Then all I have left to do is finish my weight management classes (half way done) and some pre-op appointments, labs and my nutrition classes (at the bariatric center and online). I can't believe I am halfway there.
  2. Inferior vena cava filter. It's used to prevent pulmonary emboli (PE's).
  3. Bariatric PCP, Gyno, cardiologist, GI with EGD, regular PCP, 16 week weight managent program, NUT, fitness physiologist, psych eval and of course, my surgeon. Plus labs (twice already), chest X-ray, and EKG. I think that that is it?? I might be forgetting something. And something I'm doing on the side that has all of the aforementioned people's blessing....acupuncture. The epidural steroid injections aren't working for my degenerative disc disease and tear in my L5. So I am going holistic. Thank god I have a health flex spending account because I am going to do this and massage therapy for my back.
  4. Lol Nate. I think along with weight loss you need to work on your self esteem. I don't think it's high enough yet. Lol. Lmfao!!
  5. I like the idea of naming it. For me humor helps me tremendously when it comes to something I struggle with. So I am gonna name it, I just need to come up with something funny.
  6. If you're tall regardless of sex, you are welcome to this group. I know I'm used to standing with the guys since I've been this tall since I was 13. I don't think most people get that even if we get to a size 10-12, we will always be viewed as bigger due to our heights. Oh well, it is what it is. We can be here for each other and know that WE all get where we are all coming from. Hugs to all!! Have a happy and safe holiday weekend.
  7. Brothah...you gotta do what you gotta do. I'm not a fan of marriage as it pertains to today. People settle so often in life...I did and now I am happily divorced. But anyone's opinion of you, your choices or life...is none of your business. When you characterize them into that...what they say can't take up real estate in your mind. Tell them to piss off and enjoy your life. You have been hiding due to your weight long enough! Go and live!!
  8. Hey fellow amazons!! Lol. I am also 6 feet tall. I'm at about 320 and I am still preop. I should get sleeved sometime in November. My doctor said I should get down to 170-180 if I follow the plan. Which is sweet!! Good luck ladies and let's keep this thread going!!
  9. It's red tape. I have friends and family that had to jump through huge hoops and they had cancer. It's not a cancer thing or an obesity thing. It's a money thing. We cost them money being sick or in need of using our insurance. So hence the rigamorole.
  10. Ahhhhh. Well it would be awesome if you could have. But advice on here is still gold. So I'm sure we will still appreciate it.
  11. Here's to hoping that I don't have one when I get to my room. Those things freak me out. Ughhhh.
  12. I know what you mean. I was told get the psych consult done and we will give you a date. I did that...now it's you need your GI consult, fitness consult and bariatric PCP appointment completed before a date can be given. I'm like wtf?! It's incredibly frustrating. Hang tight and all will be well.
  13. That is nothing short of amazing. Congrats to him and good luck to you.
  14. That's my concern. I want to stay on top of this because I do not want the ball dropped. Not when I'm basically competing for similar dates as all the volusia count school systems people. Plus it's the holidays and I am going to be honest. I want to be on solids by my birthday which is just before Christmas.
  15. You are a success. And you give me hope. I soooo looks forward to wearing heels with ease. Andi don't care that I'm already 6 feet tall. I will wear them proudly. Lol. Great job and please keep us updated. You really are a great inspiration!!
  16. It's not my PCP I have to meet. It's their bariatric PCP tha I am required to see. All my labs have been ordered including my chest X-ray (which was clear). The surgeon ordered those. It's just this complex rigamorole that they send you through. And don't get me started on all of the out of pocket expenses I have. Weight management program = $409 Nutrition classes, etc = $350 Surgery kit = $310 Plus all of my consult copays on top of other miscellaneous fees. And I have to pay admission copy 2 weeks before surgery. Thank god I have a big flex spending account. Or else none of this would be happening.
  17. I'm not post-op yet but I do know that www.vitacost.com is usually really great with their prices. I plan on using them for liquid vitamins, etc.
