  1. I'm 12 days out and feel like I can eat the same as I always did. I'm trying to hold back and stay on the dr's orders but I am very hungry. I am looking forward to my fill because the scale started going up instead of down. The fill is not until Dec 20th. I don't know how I will hold out till then, but I have to. So don't feel alone your not in the boat by yourself. I have read comments like this before. I guess we just have to be strong till our fill dates get here. Try not to overdo and don't forget to excercise.
  2. Nov 16th by Dr Speigel in Houston Texas.
  3. Always crush your pills so you don't risk them getting hung. Pill crushers are cheap at any pharmacy (walmart, cvs, etc.) surgery to have a stuck pill removed is costly. My doctor said it was ok to crush my metformin xr it just becomes regular instead of extended release. After banding the dosage may change. Good luck.
  4. Can anyone of you who have been banded eat cornbread dressing? I really love my famlies dressing and that is what i look most forward to eating.
  5. Jini, I am scheduled for nov 16th. I'll be just ahead of you. It will be great in a few days, don't worry. Ill be glad after it is behind me and I know you will be too. I've done my research and this is what i believe i need to help me, so i am ready. Good luck on your surgery and keep posting. It will be a very rewarding journey. Keep a positive attitude and say a prayer.

  7. Just wanted to tell all of you that I have appreciated all the info that I have gleaned over the past 2 years. This is a great website! I finally have a surgery date for Nov. 16th with Dr Speigal and will be having surgery in Houston at Twelve Oaks.
  8. Hi, I'm scheduled for surgery on nov. 16th so I will be able to tell you more after that. However I know he is experienced, and that is important to me. I hope we both will have a good experience with him. Jury is still out on the office staff. I have not dealt with them enough to make a good judgment. Be prepared to do all the leg work on getting yourself approved on the insurance issue and you won't be dissapointed. Weel good luck on your research.
  9. Get the liquid at the health food store. They have different combinations.
  10. I'm scheduled for surgery on nov 16th with Dr Speigal. Can't hardly wait. It took 6 months to get approved.

I was wondering about how the port feels under your skin. I'm concerned that it will drive me nuts. Little things like that tend to get under my skin so to speak. Ha! Ha! But really, how does it feel? I really need to know what I'm in for. Sincerely , Starrla
  12. Thank you so much for all of the imput. I am still very concerned how I will deal with all of the emotional eating after the surgery, but I believe this will give me the edge I need to succeed at overcoming the food addiction as well as the emotional eating I do. Dr appt 11/18 hope for the best! thanks to all who wrote in, Starrla

My question is about the emotional side of the lap band surgery. After you have the surgery and you feel up fast physically, what about the mental aspect of eating? I know for myself I eat for emotional reasons. Happy, sad, mad, tired, etc. How do you handle that mental feeling of wanting to eat all the time? If I could get control of that, I wouldn't need the surgery. How does one help the other if you get my meaning? I will appreciate any insight into this pondering. Sincerely, Starrla
  14. Thanks, that will keep my hope up until I see the doc. Starrla

I read today that thryoid problems could cancel me from being a canadiate for surgery. Does anyone know anything about this? I have a low thyroid. My appt with Dr Spivak is not until Nov 18. Thanks, Starrla
  16. Thanks so much for all of your replies. Will consider Dr Spivak, though would like to find a doc close to home for easy follow up treatment. Most pills are vitamins though my diabetic meds are large and time released. Dumb question but what's PB mean. Thanks, Starrla
