  1. Doing so much better, 2 days post-op, than I would've expected. Discharged this morning, got home this afternoon. I am tired, but not in pain, and able to tolerate fluids with the sip-wait technique advised by Dr. Alvarez. How is everyone else?
  2. Not terribly often, but I LOVE it. I'm usually there at lunchtime. Now that I know you are there for dinners, I will have to do that next time!
  3. I LOVE Ruggles Green at City Centre!
  4. Monday is my day, too. I am excited and nervous all at the same time. I am going to Dr. Alvarez in Mexico, just across the border from Texas.
  5. Okay, so I was unfairly "dis-ing" the Premier RTD's. I was drinking them insufficiently chilled. Now that I have had one really cold, I realize they are pretty good after all. Plus I like that you can get a lot of protein bang-for-your-buck. Once I am sleeved and will be able to consume less quantity, this will be very important.
  6. Susie, I am sorry you are feeling rotten, but glad to know it was unrelated to your sleeve, and that it will clear up with antibiotics. I don't know how I missed that you are in Houston. Me too! Maybe when you're feeling better, and I am back on my feet post-op, we could meet for tea or something? I live in Katy.
  7. Almost exact same story for me, so I went on my prep diet 11 days early so I would't gain any more (using myfitnesspal to track it) and I've already lost it back and then some. But, I know how you feel. It freaked me out!
  8. So glad to know you are on the mend Susie. Thanks for letting us know the scoop. I'm sure you will feel like a new woman once those antibiotics kick in.
  9. I split up with my husband over online "friendships" that became too friendly. I don't think you can ever be too cautious with regard to this kind of thing. I trusted my husband and never dreamed I should be checking up on him, and by the time I did, it was too late. I think you are wise to confront her on it, so that she can know your marriage is intact and will hopefully stop trying to pull anything (assuming those are her motives). If it is innocent, she will totally understand, since she is a good friend.
  10. I LOVE threading. I have my whole face done, including the blond ones that I never even noticed before, about once a month. I think the trick is to find someone experience, not someone just learning the skill. It is a bit uncomfortable, but to me it is way more comfortable than waxing. I tend to have sensitive skin.
  11. Yoga is my favorite. It is so easy to modify for different body styles and types, and I always feel energized afterward. The key is to know your limitations with regard to stretching, and little by little you will become more flexible and stronger, but yes soreness is normal when starting out, or in my case returning. I agree that it is a great strengthening choice, and it is an amazing CARDIO workout too, but many people don't realize that, because it SEEMS so slow, and because it is gentle on the body. I tried Pilates and literally could not do any of the poses, because my core wasn't strong enough, but yoga is, as I said, modifiable. Keep up the good work!
  12. Me too! Susie, where are you? Please check in when you can... Also, friends, if you are pre-op'ing, have you tried SF Jello. I just felt like I wanted to "eat" something, with a SPOON. It really hit the spot. No calories, carbs, etc. (at least in the refrigerated little cups), just 45 mg sodium, so it made me kind of thirsty. FWIW.
  13. Just finished reading through the posts. Anyone know how Susie is doing?
  14. JULY Sweetsusie AUGUST 2 allnewme - Joyce AUGUST 6 StormWarning - Jenn AUGUST 13 Mom_24 - Stacey AUGUST 18 dooter55 AUGUST 31 theoklahoman Wow, sorry for taking so long to update the calendar. All of a sudden I saw our little thread listed as "Hot" in the August 2012 forum.
  15. dooter55, You look like you are doing great on your prep "diet". I keep gaining. I have gained about 30 lbs. in the last two years, after going through menopause at 41! I am trying to do a modified pre-op diet prior to my required one, but I keep gaining. HELP! What is your secret? Any advice would be great.
  16. JULY Sweetsusie AUGUST 13 Mom_24 AUGUST 18 dooter55 AUGUST 31 theoklahoman I know the August sleeve thread is a lot busier, but it would be great for the Dr. A folks to come here as well. I will give a nudge over there.
  17. Amy, I am August 13, too!!! Thanks for sharing your story, and I am so glad you have such a great support system. You may want to also post in the August thread: http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/topic/38113-august-sleevers-where-yas-at/page__pid__413252__st__600#entry413252 for additional support.
  18. I just posted this in the Dr. Alvarez thread, but thought maybe we should do it here too, including the July sleevers that are joining us, just to make it easier to see when each of us has/had surgery and can keep up with each other. I will compile a list for us. Thanks! Okay, I am getting lost in all of the forums, especially since the August group has become so big. I can't remember who I know from which forum! Since we have it narrowed down a bit to Dr. A. Can everyone post your date for surgery with him, so we can see who will be getting to meet whom? I'll go first: August 13 Mom_24
  19. Great idea dooter! I know one of the differences seems to be that we have three weeks worth of liquids before trying soft foods post-surgery, and a full liquid diet before surgery. I think that is atypical. It seems like many doctors allow foods before even two weeks are up, sometimes even before one week post-op. I can't help wondering if this doesn't contribute to discomfort in the post-op period.
  20. Just applied for my passport today. One more step closer.
  21. I completely relate to what you are saying. It took going to the doctor and having some labs come back that were a bit concerning, before I realized that I really HAVE to do something about this NOW, before I develop really bad health problems as a result of my - dare I say it - obesity.
  22. That sounds delicious Smoggy! Glad to hear your doing so well after surgery. Blessings!
