  1. Ihad my first fill on December 13 and was so excited since I had no restriction with my initial surgery. I was on liquids and mushies for a few days after the fill and now that I am back to regular food I can eat wahtever I want. I keep waiting for that full feeling but it never comes. For lunch I had a baked potato, some pickles and a roll. Would it be bad to already go back to the doctor and ask for my next fill? I think they are trying to get all of the money out me they can since they only filled me a 0.8 on the first one. I want more restriction...it is so hard doing this by myself over the holidays...that is why I got the band before they started. How soon have you all had your fills after another fill. Is it too early? Am I just being a wimp?? Kim

    Help! I'm Eating Everything!!

I just remembered Al Bundy's Big Un Magazines...that is so funny... I never thought about that. I will have to ponder on a new name...I'm thinking "Kimalicious"...it will be my new lap-band/ Hip-hop name. I am changing my profile as we speak if it will let me. Thanks for the inspiration along with my little cousin I saw this weekend who is a white girl from the country who wore a baseball hat that said: "I am Hip-hop." She cracks me up... Kim

    Just a venting thread

It seems like the holidays have everyone down...but I think since you did such a good job on your tree you should win the best tree award for sure. It towers my 4 foot fake tree...which I call the trashy tree because I have had it since college and still have the trashy twinkle star at the top they sell at the dollar stores. I love it still though. Just think, this time next week the tree will be gone and you will have the New Years Parties coming to drink away your Christmas miseries. Those always make me feel much better. We can make it through...keep your head up!! Kim

    Crazy Family & Inlaw stories

I wish I could claim this story for my own but alas it is my best friends mothers life and I cannot steal her crazy stories since I have none of my own. They bought a pet monekey one year for Christmas. The type that dance when an organ player plays. Well, they had this monkey for a year and it loved thier dad. Their dad was an alcoholic and so became the monkey. He would put his finger in his dad's beer because he knew he could finish it off that way when the dad would not drink after the monkey. The next Christmas all of the kids came down the stairs Christmas morning to find their drunk monkey named Elvis passed out in a pile of Christmas paper cause he had opened all of the presents, crapped on em all and then passed out drunk in the papers. It was their worst Christmas ever!! I just think this is the funniest story in the world...had to share!

    Got my first fill!

I just got my first fill also...they did the flouro and just numbed the area with a cottom swab and had a very small needle for the injection. They injected a large amount and then made me drink barium while that went down they adjusted the amount to 0.8 which is when the barium would start to go down and only pool a little. It was fast. I just had to drink Water for 30 minutes after in the docs office to make sure there were no problems. I am on liquids for 3 days and mushys for 3 days. I already feel more restricted. We will see once I start eating regular food. Hope this helps! Kim
  9. So I have been fat for a while now and have the FUPA issue. For those of you who doesn't know what a FUPA is I will explain but I will not give you the actual meaning of the letters in the word because this is not that kind of site. A FUPA is the belly part that hangs down past your goodies down below. The part that sits in your lap when you sit down. I just got one about a year or two ago due to becoming so overweight. Well I have never had trouble with this before but about 2 weeks ago I started having pain in my muscles that are in the crease of my legs up under there above my thigh. If I sit for too long or just from the car ride from work to home. It takes me a few minutes to be able to stand up straight and walk normally without having muscle pain. I unfortuantely have not been doing any strenous exercising so it is not liked I pulled both muscles on both legs doing something. I just wonder if this is from protien deficiency or lack of circulation or something? Did anyone else ever have this problem? I wouldn't have worried about it except that it started after I lost 20 pounds and not before ever. I am only 26 and feel like 76 when I stand up after sitting at my desk at work. Any suggestions?

    It is lack of Protein

    Back Pain

Just an idea about the meds. Tylenol makes a liquid for adults and it doesn't taste awful and it works like a dream!
  12. The best thing in the world for the gas pain in the chest is Liquid Gaviscon. Doesn't taste too bad either. I made the mistake of making my Protein shakes with fat free skim milk and this made the gas and pain worse. Try to stay away from dairy for the first two weeks. I just had my first fill today and wish I would have had it sooner. It was way too easy. I started gaining so now I hope I will be on the losing side of this since I am on liquids again for a few days... Kim

Who else has the 10cc Lapband??

I need to check what size I have because I have not had a fill yet and can eat almost everything I want. This is bad for me. I am just hoping to maintain my loss from the beggining until my fill. My DR. said not to start counting weight loss until the first fill but I would feel like a failure if I gained back the weight I have lost. I can still eat over half of what I would have normally eaten. Again bad that I know this and I need better will power. Hopefully my workouts will counter my eating. I am scared to weigh but will try to stay off the scale until my fill so I don't get discouraged and eat everything in sight. Cause I definately could. Come on fill! I scheduled mine Dec. 13. I'll try the small plate thing that sounds like a good idea. I know my band is there just hoping the fill will make it more noticable.

Head changes vs. Body changes (Long)

I love the inspiring ones. They keep me going day in and day out. I hope my band can work for me how it works for you. I already see snipits of a new and happier me and hopefully I will continue to work hard for myself and not everyone else.

    Turkey Trot

I can't believe I did a 3 mile fun run yesterday. I participated in the 37 annual Turkey Trot in downtown Dallas. They hold it every Thanksgiving morning for the YMCA. My friends have done this for years but this is the first year I felt comfortable enough that I would get through the 3 miles. We had so much fun and there were over 20,000 people there with me. I would have never done this for myself if it hadn't been for the lap band. I am wearing my Turkey Trot tee-shirt proudly to work today and feel so good about myself for actually making it through the finish line. I'm already looking for the next run/walk I can sign up for because I think it will be a fun way to get in extra workouts. I just would have never thought lazy me would be out there doing this...it is great! Kim

    Turkey Trot

As for those most horrible shakes ever. I only got down one a day but I used skim milk and sugar free chocolate syrup, like hershey's but made with splenda. It was the only thing that got those horrible shakes down for me. As for the surgery was extremely easy and the nurses in the surgery center were very nice and helpful. I was in at 7:00 and out by noon. Good Luck with your surgery! Kim
  17. Welcome fellow Kim, you won't regret one day of it (at least after the first week). Congrats on your change... Kim

    Turkey Trot

My butt is far from skinny but I felt a little better about eating my Thanksgiving dessert knowing I had went the 3 miles that morning. Just trying to maintain until my first fill. I'm moving this weekend so hopefully that will take off the stuffing I had with my turkey too...

    Mushy Foods.........

My most favorite mushy was the pintos and cheese from Taco Bell. They were so good! Have you all tried the new Country Crock mashed potatoes? They were a life saver on my mushy stage. I didn't have to peel not 1 potato because they were so good. They come in a butter tub and you just have to microwave them. Don't forget the oatmeal ya'll!

How do you know you are full????

"Hmmm..... I still get the growling tummy hunger and hunger pains just like pre-band. I can eat and eat and eat and still never really feel full. I'm beginning to wonder if I really have a band!!!" Blossom I was banded on November the 1st and I feel the same way. I still can eat a lot. Still less than I could but a heck of a lot more than what I thought. Hopefully I don't gain every pound back before my first fill. Now that I am back on any food I want the growling has subsided a bit, but I am sure shovin it in and wondering when my band will tell me to stop! Kim
  22. So ok, I am at my one week mark from my surgery. I am finally dealing with what my body is going through after asking myself earlier in the week why I had banded myself and caused this kind of pain to myself. I am a baby when it comes to nasuea. Now 7 days later I am feeling so much better. Still trying to overcome the gas pain, but learning how to handle it. I got on the scale for the first time since the surgery and technically I am down 18 POUNDS!!! WOO HOOO!! I started at 271 before I started my pre-surgery diet and now I am down to 253. I still have a week of liquids and 2 weeks of mushies to go. This makes all of the pain so much worth it! I know the weight comes off fast in the beginning but it seems to make it all so worth it. It's been over a year since I have been under a deuce and a half, now it will be so much better to get down to a deuce and then onderland! I just had to share my elation with everyone before I go choke down some more tomato soup. WOOO HOOOO!!!

    Sad

I was strong. I slowly sipped my water as they dug into their cheesecake and fingerfoods. 1 hurdle down millions to go. I am 18 pounds down and know that if I hadn't had this band I would have eaten my way through this weekend. That's why I am so glad I got it before Christmas and not after...would have just had more weight to lose. Watch out world, cause I'm on my way back...

    I Love This Site!!!!

I am also addicted. I feel like if anything new has happened with the way I am feeling I must come right away and make sure someone else felt that way too. Everyone is so nice! Kim

    Sad

We should have funerals for the foods we can no longer eat. I can see how depressing this is going to be. I haven't gotten out of my house except to walk my dog since my surgery, but have a wedding shower and baby shower in one day this Saturday. My true feelings will probably come out then. No petite fors for me! I will have a moment of silence I am sure of it.!! Kim
