The headaches come from the sugar withdraw from carbs. I remember that when I was on atkins. I can't believe my doctor didn't put me on a 2 week diet. Mine is only 3? Mine best advice to drink the shakes at least for the pre-op dieters is to pick one taht wasn't your favorite before. For example, I loved Choclate shakes but the protien chocolate tastes nothing like it. So I have been drinking vanilla (for my 6 month diet I have been having them for breakfast) and I think it's good. That's just my opinoin and what works for me. Good luck to you all!

Well sugery is coming up in less than 2 weeks getting excitied and nervous. I am going to go in with low expectations with the staff and maybe they will surprise me.

Hello everyone I'm joining all the groups i can right now. My surgery is coming up 11/30/12 and just looking for like minded peps! I live just outside St Louis in Union MO. I'm excited and nervous Dr. minkin is my doctor and I have heard he is very good. Aligayle i haven't heard from you in a while how did the surgery go and what did you think of Minkin? PLEASE Keep in touch I'm sure i will be asking questions soon. Luckily I only have a 3 day pre-op diet but I'm getting nervous about post-op pain. Anyway still super excited and want to hear how you all are doing.

Hello, I am the 30th barely made the November group! I had my surgery moved up from 12/5/12. I like this sub-group idea. Good luck to everyone through Thanksgiving. I lucked out...I only have a 3 day liquid diet so I won't miss thanksgiving. But I'm not going to gorge either. This will be my first year preparing a turkey. Anyway, keep in touch please! Hello everyone! I just joined this November club today. I'll try to keep it short. I'm 32 married we have one child a son and of coarse the family dog! We live just outside St Louis Missouri. I did the Atkins thing lost 70lbs then I got pregers and the weight just creeped back on and now plus some! I have been on a roller coaster ride this week. Found out I was covered by insurance Monday then waited till Wednesday to get surgery date. Fought with HR today getting everything squared away for my 12/5/12 surgery date only to get my date moved to 11/30/12. It's great for me but then I had to call HR back to straighten everything out. Oh well at least I work from home. So Hello! BTW I see that some of you had your surgery this week. How did it go?

Well I just found out that my surgery date has been moved up. I was originally supossed to be sleeved 12/5/12 but there was some sort of scheduling conflict and now I will be sleeved 11/30/12! Crazy Excited! It's just one week but hey the closer the better! Man this last month has been a roller coaster ride!

Well I feel like I have been on a rollercoaster ride this week! I just found out they have resceduled my surgery to Novemeber 30th! Which is great because it's a week closer but also sucks becuase now I have to ove PTO time and rides and all that crap around it to change after I just got done scheduling it. Plus I was just starting to be apart of the December sleevers team. I'll still keep up with you guys since I'm last day of Novemember anyway. Just Crazy had to vent !

OMG you won't believe this I just had my surgery date moved up on me! Got so much crap to move around now. November 30th is my day now!

Congrats! Do you have a date yet? That was the worst for me waiting betweeen approval and getting the date.

I totally understand where you are coming from. I had a 6 month pre-op diet then all the testing then had to gather all this info from all the doctors and get that faxed off to the insurance. I was constatly calling the doctor's office and insurance to be sure all was going okay. Finally Monday I got approval for the surgery but still had not heard anything about a surgery date. I'm a planner and I just could not stand it anymore! Someone gave me the advice that the squeky weel gets the oil so I called the scheduler myself and got my date. 12/5/12! Now after all that they are sending me some paperw ork and I have to see there NUT and get blood work drawn hopefully that goes smoothly and then it it's surgery time. Hang in there I know it's rough but now you have us to support you!

Good Luck i was just approved Monday. It took 10 BZ days for mine to go through. I have United Health Care though. Now I am playing the waiting game today with the doctors office. someone is suppossed to call me today to schedule the surgery. The plan is for 1st week of December...keeping fingers crossed. I'm 32 and I was just approved by insurance yesturday! I will be sleeved in December they are calling me tomorrow to set the date. I'm hoping for the first week of december so I don't loose holiday pay but hey whatever I'm just happy this is finally happening! What's up fellow 30 somethings! Excited can you tell?

Well they said it could take up to 15 BZ days but I turned in the last of my paper work to them October 23rd and I was offically approved yesterday. so that was 10 Bz days. Depeneds on the insurance I guess, Of coarse I was a stickler calling the doctors office and the insurance constatly to make sure everyone did what they were suppossed to. I work with insurance companies and I have worked in doctors offices I know how they can be.

Hello, I am just excited becasue today I found out that my insurance approved all my paper work tomorrow my doctors office will be calling to schedule the surgery. They are thinkning it will be the first week of Decmeber. I can't believe Decmeber is almost here and we all will be starting the journey soon. Of coarse we have been on the pre-op journey too. All I can say is Merry Christmas to me! Same to you whatever you may Celebrate this will be a great start to the new year! Can you tell I'm a bit exited? LOL Now it's time for me to start preparing-work, family, and myself. the plan for me is to start walking more and practice not drinking with meals. That is a tough one for me! to me it sounds like you have done a lot to try. Like I said I gained and lost and gained and lost during that 6 months. My insurance approved me. I think they want to just see that you have given an effort. Good luck to you. You might be surprised how much you loose in the preop diet. I havent started it yet but I have heard. December can not get here quick enough!

I struggled the whole time I was on the 6th month diet plan. My weight was up and down as much as 10 pounds. Luckily my insurance looked past that and I was just approved for surgery. Looking like December sometime. My main focus is walking and high protein. If I loose I loose I just want to be strong for the surgery. I mean the surgery should (I hope) help with hunger and eating to much. So I feel if we try our hardest and not beat ourselves up we will be fine. If you screw up start over the next day! That's my outlook at least. Good Luck! (Yes I love smiley's! )

I am a fellow "St. Louisin" really Union but close enough. Anyway I am going to Dr. Minkin at Des Peres Hospital and my insurance just approved it. Should be in Decmeber sometime but the staff I am worried about. They seem kinda rude. Maybe it's just me I hope it gets better. Dr. Minkin seems nice . Anyone else have that issue?
