  1. I'm five weeks out from surgery, I'm on mushy foods now and have been for the last 3 wks. with one more to go. I do get hungry, sometimes really hungry right down to the pit of my stomach, but as soon as I start eating after about 10 min. I'm full and cannot eat anymore. My nutrionists told us that we should try to eat every couple of hours so that we don't get too hungry and cause us to overeat. However, that is not always possible or practical, but I don't see how a person can overeat, because it makes it makes me nauscious to want to take another bite. I was worried about the same thing before my surgery and wondered whether I would be the person that this thing wouldn't work, because I love to eat and a really good cook. I come from a large extended family and love to cook and wait on them. I love to see people enjoy my cooking. Good luck to you, Dawn Starting weight 227.0 lbs. Surgery 4/16/12, height 5'3.5" Current weight 198.2 lbs.
  2. I live in Portland, its between Gr. Rapids and Lansing. I had my surgery w/Dr. Baker on Apr.16 and I think he is a great Dr. I have had no problems. I also had my surgery at Blodget, the nurses and aids where wonderful there. Everyone was so caring and professional.. Good Luck to you and I will keep you in my prayers. Dawn
  3. One of the poster, Lissa, said that pain on you side is the result of your sleeve being full. She posts all the time and seems to be a real expert on so many problems that we have with our sleeve. I had the pain on my right side too. Take care.

Bought The Tickets, Still No Suport

You are not butchering your body, my cuts and scars are no different than when I had my tubes tied. And what about your health. isn't that more important to your husband? I was afraid to tell my husband that I wanted this surgery, but knew I wanted him to be a part of my decision. I have not been a very happy person, always being the heaviest inlaw in the family and hating to go to family events. Also, my mother, brothers have all had back problems, back surgeries, knee replacements. I did not want to go down that road. Good luck to you on this journey. Dawn

    How Often Do I Eat?

I'm three weeks post-op and my nut said to try eat every two hours. I'm on mushey food. I can't stand to drink any of the Protein shakes or drinks. I'm trying to get the extra protein in the chicken broccoli Soup I made. Also add carnation nonfat dry milk to oatmeal, and my cottage cheese. But I'm also wondering if I eating to much. I can eat more than a 1/2 c. of soup and oatmeal. I don't work outside the home, older sleever (66 yr). I have a hard time getting all my Water in when I'm not suppose to drink 15 min. before a meal and 45 min. after a meal. That doesn't leave alot of time to do anything. I don't know how you young mothers, working sleevers can get through a day of taking care of children and heavy work schedules to get all this stuff. You deserve a big congratulations!

    ~April Sleevers~

I was sleeved on 4/16, beginning wt. 227, now 204. My appt. w/Dr. and nut is on Tues. Will be so glad to get a list of mushy foods I can eat. I'm so tired of sweet artificial drinks. I just can't stand the shakes. I've been drinking Isopure 3x/day and little else other than Water. Also have a carnation instant Breakfast chocolate milk, hot, in the morning. I bought alot of chix breast, broccolli and plan to make chix-broccoli Soup. Also bought the magic bullet to pulverize it, can't wait. Did try a little oatmeal this morning because I was so hungry, but could only take a few bites, it seems my sleeve didn't like it. Sounds like everyone is doing well, best wishes to all. D
  8. I had my surgery 8 days ago and while I was in the hospital the nurse gave me another antibiotic to combat "thrush" or what some call "hand, foot and mouth disease". She said that one of the antibiotics that they give us post op for the surgery can cause this, so now they give another one to prevent this from happening. You have to tell your doctor to research this disease, because that is exactly what it is and is treatable. My daughter had it when she was 1 yr, old. and she was successfully treated for it. Good luck to you!
  9. I'm feeling shakey and dizzy. Also I checked my popsickle box and they aren't sugar free. plus they had fruit juice in them. They didn't upset my stomach, did I hurt my sleeve? Worried!

    ~April Sleevers~

I was sleeved on Mon. 4/16, 6 days post op. I'm feeling shakey and light headed. Also I just noticed that the popsickles I've been eating aren't sugar free and they have real juce in them. Do you think I have hurt my sleeve. I have not had any nautiousness and no heartburn.
  11. Hi Wendy, Tomorrow is my day too, also have to be there at 5:30 am. I'm all of those too, and my prayer for all of us tomorrow is for a quick and easy recovery, God bless you!
  12. Any suggestions or recipes you can share for two-week post-op?
  13. My surgery is Monday, April 16, 7;30 am and very nervous. Finally was able to find something I could tolerate post-op. I was so worried because I just cannot stand the shakes. I like the Isopure, grape and punch. Good luck and God bless you! Dawn
  14. I'm on a two-week pre-op diet with their horrible foods. Cannot tolerate them. It cost me a$163 for a bunch of crap. I talked to the dietitician and she said I could drink sugar free Carnation instant breakfast, but I don't know if I can handle drinking this for the next 6 weeks. It is better than the other stuff. I'm scheduled for surgery on 4/16 and I'm so scared I won't be able to tolerate all the protein shakes. I finally made myself two eggs yesterday and today I had 1/2 c of cottage cheese with 1 tsp. of no sugar added pineapple. Is anybody else feel really upset and distressed? Worried DT
