  6. Hello all!! Would someone be so kind as to tell us "newbies", how to add those pretty little add on things to our post...I have the ticker, but to be honest, I can't for the life of me add anything else...I love the glitter maker, but was unable to add to my signature... Would someone please be kind and take the time to tell us how this is done???Sure would be appreciated...and please give step by step instructions....some of us are really new to this and could use some instructions.....We need mentors in lots of areas.... Thanks, Di/Texas
  7. Congratulations...that is great...I wish that everyone could have approval from their insurance company...I was denied, but did the self pay and I would do it again...I feel it is worth every penny...it is the best thing I have ever done for myself.... Good luck to you...please let us know how you are doing...and when your surgery will be....we will all be cheering you on.... Di/Texas
  8. CONGRATULATIONS...Ray...I pray that all will go well for you....sounds like you are ready for the journey...good luck..and let us know how you are doing.... Di/Texas
  9. Flip, Welcome to the site...I can't help with insurance questions, but I can tell you the surgery is wonderful...I was banded on 4/6/07 and have lost 24 lbs...I was up and going after one week...I was still a little bit sore, but was able to get around pretty good...I also had a hernia repaired when they put the band on, so some of my soreness was due to that...My doctor advised me to walk right away but not to walk on treadmill until 3 weeks after surgery....I had my surgery done in the states...I have seen where others went to Mexico...I can't say which is best...my insurance denied me two years ago and I finally decided to self pay...and I have no regrets...I would do it again.... Di/Texas
  10. Hello Jen, Welcome to the site...All here is really great support...I have only been banded since 4/6/07...I have found so much comfort and info from these great people... I can't help with insurance questions...I was denied by insurance, so I am a self pay...but it is worth every penny...so glad I have had my band put on...I have lost 24 lbs.... Di/Texas
  11. Good luck to all of you that are waiting on insurance approval...I hope and pray each of you are approved, and I hope you get approval really soon....
  12. Congratulations....that Is So Good....i Know You Are So Happy...so You Will Be A Bandster....
  13. I think this is where you have to really just trust your surgeon...I had no doubt that my surgeon would do what she said she would do...I have no idea what type of band is in me, all I know is that it is working...and I am so glad I have been banded...
  14. CONGRATULATIONS....I am so excited for you....good luck.... Di/Texas
  15. Wow...ladies, that is great....I am so happy for all of you....I have never heard of an insurance company doing this, but sounds like that is typical for BC/BS Federal....CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THAT ARE APPROVED....YOU ARE GETTING READY TO BE BANDED....
  16. I have not gained, but I am not losing...I am also on soft foods...but I measure 1/2 cup and I only eat three meals a day...I can't imagine not losing doing this....I have not exercised as much as I need to...I will start walking more on treadmill.... Remember, you always weigh more in the afternoon, than morning...and I never weigh when I am dressed...this will contribute to weighing more...and you may weigh more because you are building muscle....from exercising....I am sure it will come off....just hang in there....and stick to the plan...you will get it off....
  17. Jen, When you pay cash, you don't have all of the test...I did sleep study...wore a monitor at home and then took back the next day....never had to have psych test...did have to have an EKG...only because I have had open heart surgery and it had been a while since I last had EKG and I needed this to be put to sleep.... Congratulations to all the new banders coming up in June...I am excited for each of you....I was banded in April....the 6th...almost a month for me...and I am so glad I had this done...
  18. My doc says not to worry about losing, until first fill....this is a time to heal...I have lost 24 lbs, but have started slowing down...I do not weigh everyday...the numbers make my crazy...I will get down if I don't lose...so I wait several days and then weigh....also....I measure everything I eat...1/2 cup is all I can have at each meal...that is it...no more, no less...but I always measure.... Di
  19. CONGRATULATIONS Deb....So glad you have joined us....I know you must be so excited.....I am excited for you...stay in touch...good luck... Di
  20. Welcome and congratulations....honey, you just trust and believe that you are going to do well, and you will...you can't worry about what anyone else thinks about this surgery....you just make up your mind and leave the rest to think what they want... I have been so fortunate...everyone was so supportive of my decision..after being banded, everyone is curious to know what I am able to eat, how much have I lost, and the most important....would I do it all over again...and of course I say, "YES!"
  21. Hello Ginger and Deb24...congratulations to both of you....I was banded on 4/6/07...It has been three weeks and two days since my surgery...Really and truly...the pain is not that bad....you will be uncomfortable for a few days, but the pain is not really that bad...You will have pain medication to take..and I took mine......I was on pain medication for first 4 or 5 days...I also had to have a hernia repaired....some of the pain I felt was from that...you will be more sore than anything...the port site is a little more sore than the other, but that will pass...I felt so much better after about a week....the gas pain you will feel in your chest, and left arm...take liquid gas-x and walk, walk, walk...as soon as they let you get up ....start walking...that will help to relieve the gas pains...good luck...and don't worry..you will be fine...but...take it easy for the first few days and don't lift anything heavy...and please follow the doctors orders to the "t"....don't do anything that he didn't say you could do...eating or anything else....just relax and take it easy for a few days...you will be fine...let us know how you are doing...I am excited for both of you.... Di
  22. congratulations...that is great...I know you must be so excited....get ready to go to "bandland" you will be so happy....let us know how things are going...
  23. Sounds like you were off to a pretty good start..I didn't do anything but liquids for the first two weeks after surgery....the broth just tasted bad to me, so I pretty much did little sips of water for the first couple of days...and then I started little sips of broth, but after about 3 days I started drinking slim fast...4 oz's at a time....did this for 2 weeks...
  24. I am 54 years old...was banded two weeks and three days before my 54th birthday...I feel great....
