    Dr. Fernando Garcia?

True, the amount of his surgeries vary day to day. I saw the surgery board when I arrived and he had did about 4 or surgeries the day before and I was his only patient on the day I had my surgery.
  2. Holly I am glad you are going forward with your surgery and have a surgery date. And yes during your medical stay and afterwards it is your time to just focus on you and your well being. It's all about you now girl
  3. First I will say I did not tell anyone I was having weight loss surgery in Mexico. I knew I would get a lot of negative advice/comments solely because the surgery would be performed in Mexico. And then you have some that are against WLS period. So fear of rejection kept me from sharing my decision to have the surgery and to have it in Mexico. I am truly sorry to hear that your support system isn't there for you. Sometimes loved ones do not understand that you just want someone to hold your hand and be there without judging. I know it hurts that you were there for your sister, no questions asked and when you ask for the same support it was denied. Maybe she can't be there for the beginning of your journey (surgery) but she can be there for you emotionally and physically when you return? You know help you out around the house/errands for a few days. It is ok, that she will not go with you and for you feel hurt, rejected by her decision. If you have done your research and feel comfortable with having the surgery in another country then do it. Sometimes we just have to turn the radio on and make that trip without a passenger for company. Best wishes whatever you decide.
  4. Hi, I arrived yesterday morning at 7:00 at Mi Doctor. Met ADNKEL30 and she was just walking around like nothing. I had to ask her if she had surgery? Yes she had the day before. All did all of my pre op testing. I meet with Dr. Garcia around noon. He told me about the procedure and answered all of my questions. I then meet the anethesiolgist (sp) He answer all of my questions and told me all what to expect, I was wheeled into the ER, and next thing I knew I was back in my room. I felt a little pain which was knocked out quickly with some pain meds. I went back to sleep and about midnight I was up walking. This morning, no pain, just soreness were the drain is at and my reflux is acting up. They gave me some anticids and I back to new. I think I have my drain test later this afternoon. MY battery is low. so I better sign off and charge it up,

    Flaking Skin?

I had dry/flakey skin, all over. Went to the ER,not for dry skin and was told I was dehydrated. As soon as I was able to get my fluids in,the dry skin went away.

    Tomorrow Is The Day

I bet you will not get any sleep tonight You are in my prayers and keep us posted..
  13. Sorry to hear about your discomfort. About 1 week after my surgery I started vomiting everyday until I was dehydrated. Went to ER 2 times and was given IV fluids and CT scans, no leaks. Still continued to vomit, no abdominal pain. Went to my PCP and was told to go to ER. Went to a different ER again more labs and scans.( 3rd visit was the charm) No leaks, but found out gallbladder was shot and as a result of the gallstones I had pancretitis (sp). During the removal of my gallblader it was discovered the surgeon that performed my VSG knicked my liver and it was bleeding. I stayed in the hospital for 3 weeks. I was told the liver would heal itself. Long story short, it may be your gallbladder. I was also told I had gastric erosion . RX for gastric reflux/erosion and was treated in hospital by IV with Protonix to heal the erosion. It has been a long road to recovery, but I am getting there. Ask your DR if it could be your gall bladder. I never put vomiting every day with gallstones and pancretitis. And I sure didnt know my liver was bleeding. I will ask the DR when I go back for my follow up about long term affects to my liver. Take care of yourself and keep going back to the ER until they find out why you cant keep anything down. I have been out the hospital for about 2 week and I can now drink water/fluids without vomiting. So hopefully you will soon find out why you cant keep anything down and put a end to your discomfort.

    Complications

You are in my prayers, get well soon.
  15. Hi, are you 8 weeks post op ? If you are 8 weeks out, I think soft baked fish would be ok to eat. I havnet been able to eat fish yet, Im four 1/2 weeks out. But I think I could try it at this stage. still struggling with mushies. As time go by, it will get a little easier.
  16. I am a little over 4 1/2 weeks post op and still not myself. I took off 2 and a half weeks. And wasnt ready to go back, but I did. However I should have went on short term disability and took off 6 weeks. So I can understand you being 4 weeks post op and not feeling up to going back just yet.Everyone is different.I know someone who took 12 weeks off to recovery before returning back to work and she had a desk job also.

  19. You are in my prayers for an uncomplicated surgery and speedy recovery. Keep us posted...
  20. No, it doesnt sound weird. I think deep down I didnt go out because I dont know how to have a good time without eating and drinking. I have to get over that, I guess. Back in the day, I used to go to Tijuana and have a good time. Drink, eat, drink, eat and buy trickets So I understand why people want to explorer. I never been to the beach in Tijuana, but the beach in Cabo and Mazalan was crystal clear. Im sure they share the same Water, I think ? You will enjoy Tijuana and San Diego.

5 Weeks Po & You Wouldn't Know It

I am 4 weeks post op and one thing I can say is I cant measure my recovery or weight loss by others. I had bad acid before the surgery and after the surgery it has increased. So i take twice as much previcid then before. Like you I thought I would have all this energy because I read post's were people had all this energy. Nope, just draging. Not able to get all my fluids in and went to ER for hydration. Only able to eat a couple of oz of food a day. All I can say is it has to get better as time go by.... and it will. Your weight will start to drop, and stay off. I think our bodies are still adjusting to the surgery. You didnt spend your $20k in vain.
  22. Yes, I had surgery with Dr. Garcia. I went thru Obesity Solutions. My coordinator was alma. And I stayed at the Marriott for 2 days, I almost didnt want to leave and the hospital for 2 days before being discharged to the Marriot. If you have any questions just let me know.
  23. Neva907, sorry I just saw your post tonight. Everything went smoothly as far as crossing the border and to the hospital. The driver was very nice and on time When I got to the hospital I was very nervous, they gave me something to relax and then I felt better I took my themometer to take my temp at the hospital and hotel. They take your temp about 6 times a day. But they take it in Celsius. I had to make sure for myself, I didnt have a fever A few hours after surgery I needed pain medication and I told the nurse and she must have ran to get the medicine because when I looked up again she was standing over me with a liquid pain medication. I drank it and the pain stopped and I went back to sleep. I finally got up 5 hours later and started to walk the halls. I had my favorite nurse, I dont remember her name, but she stood out. She was young and wore a nurses hat. One of the nurses I hated to see coming She started messing with my IV and pulled it out. And then she tried to put it back. But I asked her to go get the "favorite nurse" and she out it back in with no problem. The hotel was really nice. King size bed with 8 pillows and high thread count sheets !!!! I loved it. The broth was good. The hospital will discharge you with Gatorade to take back to the hotel. So you will be set. And if you have any questions you can email or call the hospital or cordinator. The cordinator will come and visit you at the hotel once a day while you are there. All I can say is after you are discharged, and you are at the hotel just walk and relax.
