Feeling Lost
All is not lost. I would give the surgeon a call and see what exactly you are supposed to be doing and don't let them hang up until you've written it all down and it is clear to you. You deserve to be certain. I am surprised you don't have that information clearly spelled out to you in instruction sheets already. This is not really hard due to the very few things you are allowed to eat at this point. The supplementation is important. I doubt that you have done any damage to yourself. Take heart!

Overreacting?
My brother-in-law takes every opportunity to tell folks my story when we are out together, especially in buffets where he is explaining to the food workers why a big guy like me takes such small portions. He starts with,"His stomach is the size of a small banana!" You would have to know my brother-in-law,... heart of gold. I think he is really proud of the courage I exhibited by going through with it.

Overreacting?
When people give me a put-down wrapped in a compliment I give them one back: "Thank you for noticing! Yes, I have lost a lot of weight and during the process I have discovered a lot of new, emotionally mature and understanding friends".

What Do You Tell People When You Dont Want Them To Know?
I just tell them the truth: I eat less. If I deem them worthy, they hear the rest of the story. If not, that's all they need to know.

Biotin For Hair Loss
My hair is thinner. However, I am 63 and my uncles were folicle challenged so I am not sure I can pin it on WLS.

Anyone 5 Or 6 Months Post-Op....
Nearly 7 months out. 10 pounds to goal. Eggs and cheese for breakfast, protein chunks for lunch and dinner;(Chicken or turkey meatballs, left-over whatever), Organo Gold coffee throughout day. I eat left-overs from restaurant visits and what the "normal" part of the family doesn't eat. I try to get some green stuff in every day and a little fruit. Milk on occasion. Lots of water. I don't have any sleeve forbidden foods that I avoid. Small portions, though.

NSV shout outs
I went with the family to Sea World, Orlando. I took my granddaughter to the Manta, the huge and terrifying coaster. They have a seat outside to test whether you are too hulking to get on the ride. Grampa jumps in, pulls the restrainer down,... click...with room to spare! Last year at this time I wouldn't have even tested it. So we waited the 45 minutes in line, got on the ride, and away we went. Coming down the first hill and twist nearly brought up the miniscule contents of the Bouncer,(my sleeve). But I relaxed and talked back to the intimidating boneshaker: "Is that all you got?" "Give me some more!" to impress my granddaughter. To top it off, I tried to talk her into getting right back on, a perk for our platinum annual pass. She was quite content with what she had already experienced. Macho, skinny grampa rides again!

How Much Can Poop Weigh?
I chucked my former scale for playing this game on me. Now my present scale which got high review marks is likewise behaving irrationally. Maybe the scales are controlled by a central CPU like the bots in iRobot. If you run afoul of the political leanings of the Weight Czar your scale will punish you.

I Love How We All Have Positive Vibes!
To me it was like going back in time without the DeLorean. I started the sentence, "The last time I was this thin was...." ....whirling lights flashed in my memory....Bam!....1980, Funkytown...

Ready To Give Up...
I am 6 months out and it is still the same. Eat too fast and regret will follow. One needs to pause before eating like Michael Jordan at the free-throw line. Visualize what you are about to do, follow through, don't lose concentration, stay in the zone. Beats "shouting Europe at the toilet."

Soups
O.T is right. Give it time. Especially don't make the Hot and Sour soup mistake that I made. Ruined me for it forever.

I Was So "disappointed"
I hate my old sweaters. They used to be too tight. Now I swim in them. They remind me of when I was a teen and let my girlfiend wear my sweater to show off that she had a boyfriend. She looked in them then like I look in them now. I don't have a boyfiend. Homey don't play dat.

Free Tummy Tuck At Burn Unit
Hmmm....my research indicates otherwise as indicated in my thread about donating excess skin. http://www.traumaburn.org/who/skinbank/faq.shtml says free tummy tucks for the skin isn't done. Something is wrong here.

Donating Excess Skin? Forget About It!
Wife and I were talking about the possibility of donating our excess folds of skin in exchange for cosmetic surgery. A little research this morning put that idea to rest. http://www.traumaburn.org/who/skinbank/faq.shtml Skin harvesting is only done on deceased folks, primarily because of the FDA requiring a quarantine period of 6 months. Also, expensive specialists must do the work, you get a lot more skin from a whole body, etc. We are back to our defense mechanism mindset that loose is lovely.

How Much Have U Lost Since You Were Sleeved?
Sleeved Jan. 16, 2012. Lost 70 pounds in 195 days, about 1/3 pound a day. I am now 10 pounds from goal. I am off of apnea breather, diabetes meds, and BP medicine. What we need is a super-star who was sleeved to make an over-abundance of skin a fashion trend. But until that happens my Roux-N-Y wife, (who has also lost a bunch), and I have decided that loose is lovely in our private society. Beside that, if we ever need a skin graft we have plenty to spare.

South Florida?
We have a wine rack that came with our furnished rental here in Dade City. My wife filled it up with sugar-free syrups from T.J.Maxx and a little from Sam's Club. We hit the Organo Gold coffee every day, she can really jazz 'em up!

I Can't Poop. :-(
Howdy, neighbor, Dade City here. 5 days is a bit long but not beyond extrordinary. My wife, Roux N Y girl, goes that long occasionally. I'm a sleever and get fixed up with fig and prune eating, Metamucil, and/or Organo gold coffee. Be sure to keep the Water intake up. Whole wheatTriscuits seem to help, too.

Good Reminder Of Why I Wanted This In The First Place
Today I went with my family to the Lowry Zoo in Tampa. Very crowded, (it was $5 day), and very hot and humid. I did fine, walked nearly the whole time, only getting a bit tired after 4 hours. Not bad for a 63 year old who was 330 pounds this time last year. Now I'm 232. I could have never made it through this before. The heat and exertion would have put me out. I thank God for my operation. I am a much better man for my wife, daughter, and granddaughters.

4 Weeks Post-Op Is It Safe To Start My Boxing Classes? :d This Is The Only Way I Like To Get My Exercise In <3
Doc is the best judge. I must say it makes me wince to imagine getting punched in my torso which resembles that of someone who had a job as a ninja throwing star target..

Anyone Ever Lost Friends After Knowing You Were Getting The Surgery?
You know when you are out walking, enjoying yourself, and suddenly a vile odor hits your nose? You look around, smell your shirt, and puzzle a while. Then you think to look on the bottom of your Nikes and there it is; nestled in the treads is evidence that someone didn't clean up after Bowzer. You make your way back home and wash off the doo under the outside faucet, thankful that the stench wasn't a permanent fixture. It makes me think of stupid opinions. They stink up your life until you realize what they are and wash them away with intelligence. Then you give serious thought to avoiding those that leave caca in their wake.
