Sparkling Water?
I'm allowed to have flat ginger ale after surgery so I would assume you can have flat sparkling water. To be sure though I would ask my doctor.

Introduction
Sorry about your complications and having to have an endoscopy. If I may, may I ask what you're complications were? I'm a little concerned about complications but not too too much. My daughter had the surgery six years ago and is basically doing fine. she had to have an endoscopy done recently. Everything was okay but they think she has bacteria in her intestines. she has yet to have that checked out. she is busy with other Dr. appointments that have nothing to do with her gastric bypass surgery. Thanks for responding...

Introduction
Hi, My name is Deb and I am 58 years old (soon-to-be 59), physically disabled with spinal muscular atrophy (I cannot walk), and have just been greenlighted by my psychiatrist for the gastric bypass. I had been thinking of getting the vertical sleeve surgery but my medical doctor told me today that the gastric bypass would be better for me since my main reason for having surgery is to put my diabetes in remission. (Kidneys leaking Proteins from my diabetes and I don't want to lose my kidneys.) So here I am facing gastric bypass surgery. I look forward to meeting you, fellow-members of the forum. I will try my best to be an active participant in this forum. By the way, my surgery should be sometime in July. Any other July surgeries out there? Deb

Ricotta Bake
RICOTTA BAKE: 1 15 oz. Container of low fat Ricotta 1 frozen pkg. of spinach thawed/drained (squeezed) well - you can also use any veggies (e.g., zucchini and/or eggplant and saut till soft) 1 C Parmesan cheese (split in 1/2) (Use the fresh grated from the grocery store, the stuff in the can is too dry) 1 egg Mix all together - except for 1/2 C of parmesan -- put in a baking dish (I used a 1 quart size) add another C of cheese on top and bake @ 350 till golden & bubbly - about 30mins Add marinara or pesto sauce on top once done. Reheats quite nicely

I'm On A Low Carb Pre Op Diet...
I use a software program called "Diet Power" it's not free though. $27.95 Free 15-day trial. It lists all nutrients including the different carbs (dietary fiber & sugar) I love it...it keeps track of everything...huge food/calorie database. Hope this helps.

Issues With Gas After Surgery
is there an issue with gas after surgery and I'm not talking about right after surgery but later on? My daughter had RNY 6 years ago and still has a lot of gas (Burping) and I was wondering if that gas problem holds true for the vertical sleeve.thanks for all your responses.
