  1. Just wanted to give an update on my progress. Its been 4 months and I went from 247 on surgery day to 194 (finally under 200!). I have been lucky to not have any complications, and I feel like a completely different person with more energy and more self esteem. I can finally shop in the little trendy stores instead of the special plus sized stores, and have more energy to keep up with my little boys (3 and 5). If anyone out there is contemplating having this surgery or not, all I have to say is this surgery is one of the best things that I have ever done, absolutely no regrets. Feeling great!!
  2. Thank you everyone and being happy and healthy for your kids is priceless

    Arizona Nurses???

RN from Cali I think do many rns get the sleeve because we see/know all the problems that stem from obesity. I don't want to be 30 and have to have my foot amputated because my sugars were out of control. We see the htn and sleep apnea and dm and chf ....to us its a real possibility of what could happen to us in the future, and personally I want to age into a nice little old lady with to health issues
  5. In addition to all the wonderful points people are making, sleeve gastrectomy is not as new as people think. It was actually used for decades as treatment for people with stomach cancer. It was while treating the cancer that doctors started noticing that weight loss was actually a side effect. Look into it, it might comfort your wife a little to know that there are people out there who have lived with the sleeve for years
  6. I agree! It makes me feel good to know that most people are in the same boat as me with this dumb stall. I also get discouraged when no one seems to notice my weight loss, is only been 17lbs and I really thought it would be melting off
  7. I'm supposed to be on a pureed diet... This afternoon I ate two chips ahoy Cookies and a sip of coke. Bad thing is....... I want more!

    Younger Sleevers

I'm 23 and at 2 Weeks out I've lost 17lbs (pre-op 247). I don't know if it has to do with my age but I feel awesome! No pain since day 2, but I think my weight loss is too early to notice any loose skin. I'm trying to work out now while its still early and hopefully it won't be an issue... I'm hopeful but I think loose skin is inevitable. But id rather have some flabby skin than a big ol gut
  9. Wow! Good for you! Before 262 Pre-Op 247 After 230 Sleeved 3/22 (2 Weeks)

    3 Weeks Clear Liquids Unbearable!

I'm supposed to be on thick liquids for another week but I cannot stand it anymore. I'm probably the worse patient ever but i'm starting to introduce a few bites of mushies into my day =/ I even had a tiny corner of bread the other day, but I tolerated it fine. How Are You One Week Post-Opers

I'm post op day 5 and have to constantly remind myself to drink! Does anyone else get that bubbly/growling feeling in their tummy whenever they eat? does it have to do with the temp or quantity of what I'm eating? Does it mean that I am full or starving? I don't like the way it makes me feel and that's another reason why I'm having trouble with getting all my liquids in. All I really want to eat is comfort food like mac/cheese, cheese and crackers and Cereal
  12. Actually I believe they make you take off your underwear because it has something to do with the machinery they use and that can cause the elastic in your underwear to burn you

    Surgery Date 03/22/12

I'm glad to have found someone my age going Through the same thing (i'm 23). You should ask your Dr if he requires the leak test after surgery because some Dr check before you even get off the operating table

  16. Yeah I know what you mean about telling people. The only reason my Co-workers found out about my surgery was because it says leave of absence next to my name on the work schedule.everyone that I have told (including family) has tried to talk me out of it. "you're too young" "you're not even that big" "why don't you try good ol'fashion diet and exercise". .... Well because its my own personal choice so don't worry your little head about it good luck and we will be healthy and fit soon

    Surgery Date 03/22/12

My date is the 22nd too! We will be going through everything at same time so keep us posted
  19. I was told that after 3 weeks should be ok. I work 3 12-hour shifts a week as a nurse .... that seems kind of fast, so we will see how that goes
  20. Hello everyone!! So I have been reading all your stories for a couple of months and I finally grew a pair and decided to post my own story I am 23 years old married with two kids, I have been through a lot with being a teenage mom and all, but I am proud to say that after years of struggling I graduated with my bachelors for registered nurse in June 2011. I always knew was overweight but put my health on the back burner because my family/kids and school were more important to me. Now have a good job and think it's time to concentrate on ME. Luckily I don't have any health problems... YET. I work on a medical/surgical floor and I see SOOOO many people coming in for amputations and issues with their hearts and kidneys all because of diabetes and poor lifestyle choices. I NEVER want myself or my family to have to go through any of those issues so I'm doing this surgery to prevent those things. Besides, I'm pretty much a walking contradiction when I have to tell people to watch what they eat or exercise more when myself am overweight.... they look at me like 0_o Anyway, my date is for 3/22 with Dr.Fedorka in so-cal. I'm super excited yet scared. My biggest obstacle is going to be dealing with baked goods, I eat something chocolaty/sweet about every other day but I actually like the taste of the chocolate Protein shakes, so I hoping that will satisfy my cravings I can't wait to have more energy and fit into cute clothes/dresses and hopefully people will stop asking when the baby or babies are due.. I'M NOT PREGNANT! lol Thanks for reading
