  1. thanks everyone! the surgeon i see has a partner that does gastric surgery in the area that my parents live....but of course im not going to get my surgery done there...to make it simplier i live in dallas and the parentals live in amarillo so its 6hr drive or1 1/2 hr flight im thinking that if my mom comes for a week then i should be good to go and not need to even go back....basically she is trying to fit me in with the siblings summer plans LOL. i also think its better to stay close to the doc in case things do arise..and who knows when i will have to go back fr post op appts too..but ill ask on thursday and put an update thanks again!
  2. i know every doc is different but do yall think my doctor would let me recover in another city 6 hrs away like a week after surgery? like my family wants me to fly back w/ my mom so i can recover at their house....its a question i will be asking on my final preop appt on thursday but would like yalls input....
  3. finally got my surgery date!!!!!! july 10th!!! scope 6/27 final office visit 6/28 preop hospital visit 6/29!!!! IM SOOOO HAPPY!!! FINALLY GOT IT YAYY ME! LOL...now its time to get all my things needed for preop liquid diet..boo ....any suggestions or advice?!
  4. I have cigna and it was a simple process..knew I was approved within 1 week..ur doc will make sure you have everything they need before submitting for approval...don't stress...it's quick and painless:
  5. I'm 26 and should b scheduling surgery date this week...I too have gone through my childhood preteens teens and early twenties overweight and thankful for this opportunity... good luck on your journey!
  6. i just finished my 6 months in april...it definitely goes by fast! glad you found the forum ) its a great support system
  7. I have cigna.. my deductible was 300 &.out of pocket Max is 2000...so my dr requires I pay my out of pocket to him a week before surgery..the hospital will bill you later..well idk about all hospitals but Baylor will for me..
  8. ok so i was approved on 5/7 and bariatric coordinator sent my info to scheduling so i could be scheduled for scope, actual pre-op appt and set my date...well here it is 5/17 and I havent been called yet....should I call them or should i wait? how long did yall wait til you were called?
  9. I'm in waxahachie and will be a June sleever too! With Dr Andre Graham at Baylor Waxahachie:)
  10. Definitely talk to insurance and ur doctor... I'm sure they expect some type of gain I mean if we were able to just lose weight on a simple supervised diet we wouldn't need the surgery right?! Lol
  11. Congrats to you!!!!
  12. I had to take a chill pill lol.. got ahold of the doc office. And she said it was just a dummy date because she had to put the date n before submission. And assured me we will have the date changed lOl whew!!
  13. So i mentioned before that I had ppwk submited on 4/30 and I was approved on 5/7..yay me! buuuuuuut...yes, here comes the BUT.... i was reading online on an obesity website bout the insurance approval letters and to make sure they dont expire...well i havent gotten mine in the mail so I called Cigna to see if there was some type of 'expiration' and I was told YES...it expires on 5/23 which means and i quote "you have to have surgery on 5/22" UMMMMM. I had told my doctor i couldn't have it until 6/22 and then cigna said i need to have my doctor call them right away to change the date but it may not be able to be changed because i have to have surgery within 6 months of my start date which was in November.. how can i have surgery within 6 months of my start date if CIGNA requires a 6 months supervised diet and a bunch of other crap before they will approve? so that doesn't make sense and to top it off, i haven't started any type of liquid diet not to mention havent even had my PREOP appt, scope or paid for the damn thing....i HATE HATE HATE receiving mis-information or BS information... has anyone experienced this? or is someone (at CIGNA) blowing smoke up my a--.....ok sorry for the vent post but im pretty pissed...
  14. leo's in the house!!!! LOL awesome!
  15. I'm sure you will!! I pray you do!
  16. I started the 6th month supervised diet appt in november and completed my 6 month in April...ppwk sent to insurance and they received it on 4/30 began review on 5/1. And I was approved on 5/7...I have cigna... the months really flew by! I am the type of person who likes to have things done quickly so it was hard to have to go thru 6months...I also had to do a pysch evaluation, 4 dietician classes, sleep study... My mentor told me it would go by factor was all a learning experience and I'm grateful for the knowledge but I don't think anything helped more than watching tons of videos on YouTube! and I didn't believe her until it was over...it's totally worth it...I'm now just waiting for the scheduling call.... O and I'm 5'6 have 57 bmi. Sleep apnea, borderline diabetes, pcos, high blood pressure, knee problems so with the comorbidities I was approved....
  17. I am sorry to hear u had to cancel ur appt... I would b sad too but everything happens for a reason...I pray another door opens for you!
  18. I have cigna... they received ppwk on 4/30, started review on 5/1 and I was approved on 5/7...so a whole week...
