  1. A craving now and again won't do you in. Though that much greasy food may make you sick.
  2. Your not alone, I put on 5 pounds over the holidays and from emotional eating so you are not alone in putting on weight or needing support.
  3. lot less, the protein shakes will die off after a month or so.
  4. No reason to tell or not, it should not affect how someone sees you. As for non eating dates: movies, bowling, skiing, dancing, just go out for a scoop of ice cream or cup of coffee, basketball game, drive in the country, visit the wineries.
  5. yes they would but good luck finding flavors you may like. Instead, use applesauce, you can cream a banana, peas etc. If you can mush it with a fork. You can steam vegetables and then mush them - good for squash etc. Avoid things with seeds to not get things lodged in surgery line, needs time to heal and close internally of the stomach.
  6. May have been more active over holidays. Just go back to normal diet to stablize.
  7. standing, bend head back to stretch neck, hold few seconds, repeat a couple of times. tilt head back, do a chewing motion about 20 times, repeat a few times tilt head back, try kissing ceiling, hold few seconds, repeat a few times. turn head hold a few seconds, turn to other side, repeat a few times. Of course, if you have limitations or neck injuries consult your doctor. Try just about anything to stretch neck. Creams and other stuff advertised is not going to shrink skin. Last resort is a face lift.
  8. I am near starting month 6 and I seem to be nibbling more than I should. Hard to resist craving at Christmas holiday.
  9. the motrin is harder on stomach and with less stomach you are supposed to avoid it to avoid damaging the little stomach you have left
  10. At week 4 meeting with dietician and physician assistant I was told to add some salads into the mix. So I have been having some small salads with or without meals (with then it is much smaller) with lettuce, tomato, cucumber, squash, mushrooms, radishes, celery, anything else I would put into a salad. All told about Vitamins and salads - the big part of a salad, the lettuce, have virtually zero nutritional value and you will not likely get much out of a salad to begin with. However, since sleeve does not have same malabsorption problem as the bypass people it may not be a big problem but take your vitamins as instructed, it helps your body in long run.
  11. I had sleep apnea also. The surgery helped me eliminate that problem though from what I hear it may not always occur but my Kaiser surgeon said it would be resolved if the problem was just excess weight. The surgery is relatively safe, less than 1% chance morbidity and as far as complications, I haven't had any. Tossed Cookies two or three times as stomach was getting used to foods again. You can put weight back on if you keep picking at food all day or eat out of emotions. I put on a couple of pounds during holidays but only like 3 but part of it is not getting to gym on routine basis with workload increase. You mentioned bp meds and insomnia, this is not related to weight and I have same problems. BP is a lifelong disease and my insomnia is really bad especially now with the holidays which bring on depression and emotional eating. Do get proper psychological treatment, trust me from experience. Good luck with surgery.
  12. Don't worry, just avoid the berries and other items that can get stuck in the the internal staple line for 4 to 6 weeks. Don't eat rough stuff, stick to liquid and pureed diet. Doctor probably being cautious with all the procedures you had at one time.
  13. Yes so is instant potatoes. Try not to use butter and remember protein first, space out time for eating.
  14. I am 5 months and have that same feeling. Goes away if I don't eat for a few hours but as soon as I do eat it comes back. I am attributing it to some phase and need to eat less for awhile, get in more salad or something to help with digestion.
  15. You can eat your way out of rny as well as sleeve. Don't do it unless you are ready to commit. With sleeve you are likely to lose 50 to 80 pounds or up to 50% of excess body weight. RNY may lose more but we don't know what your starting weight is. First you should have lost 10% on your own before surgery.
  16. Back then, at five months now, my meals were like this Breakfast poached egg, slice of toast yogurt cottage cheese and fruit Cereal and milk Snack Protein bar Protein shake fruit lunch salad with meat (hamburger, chicken any leftover) dinner normal meal, meat, potato, vegetable Soup anything that would stay down At this point, my metabolism is stable haven't gained or lost a pound in 6 weeks which is actually fine, only 10 pounds from goal but quite comfortable as is.

I am starting month 5 and have been stable at 190 lbs for a month, only 10 pounds from goal but quite frankly comfortable at 190. I can eat full meals and have some desert (ice cream etc) and I snack on small candy bars, MMs, etc and I neither gain nor lose weight. Nothing wrong with having a cookie, with or without sugar or ice cream, etc. It is normal. I am also with Kaiser and they want only 3 meals a day, maybe a Protein bar or shake in between but they do want only 3 normal meals per day. I didn't have the surgery just to give up eating everything else I would have done the bypass. Enjoy a snack just don't overdo.
  18. To help others about the topic of hair loss, here are some things I have found It is not a matter of Protein levels otherwise we would lose it sooner after surgery whereas most people have this problem around months 4 to 8 months. Some ideas to help of what I do that seems to work 1. I take Biotin 2. I use a hairmax laser comb 3. When I need to fill in some gaps I use Hairmax Filler - sprinkle synthetic hair fibers on, clings to hair fills in gaps. website http://hairmaxestore.com/buy-hairmax-hair-fibers.html 4. I use hairspray to keep hair in place and reduce amount of combing/brushing to reduce pulling on hair 5. Wash hair fewer days, anything to reduce pulling on hair.
  19. Let's dispel the Protein myth, that is not it otherwise we would start losing weight immediately. From many of the postings people seem to notice it from month 4 to month 8. My got thinner around month 4 and slowed down in month 5. Some things I do that seem to help I am taking Biotin that seems to be helping. I use hairspray to keep hair in place, so I am not pulling a brush or comb pulling on the hairs. I use a Hairmax Laser Comb and Hair filler that fills in the gaps in the interim. http://hairmaxestore.com/buy-hairmax-hair-fibers.html
  20. 1 pound is not a cause to worry about weight gain. Your weight will go up and down. I have hovered awhile between 188 to 194 for the last month.
  21. From a guy's perspective, even if you put out a vibe that is no reason for him to act like a jerk. You were only texting, not like you were out on a fifth date and acting like giddy high school kids, in which case you just slap him silly. If you like him then tell him to stop it and you prefer a gentleman. If he can't do that then drop him, block his number, and remember the song by Captain and Tenille "You better shop around"
  22. If he is sleeved even on the 18th he can be up and driving on the 21st let alone by the 25th he should be fine unless there is some complication with the surgery. Now consider which is cheaper a second flight or extra days in Disneyland or Mexico, where ever you plan to stay.
  23. 16 pounds in 5 days is way to quick. I started at 235, at two week I was at 218 and at four week at 205 and that was considered fast but manageable by the doctor. I was starting back to gym at week three and the rapid loss of 20 pounds really fatigued me during workout. If you are not feeling tired great but you may not be getting in enough calories. Do make sure to get in your 50-70 grams of Protein. The fast weight loss will take away protein and hurt your muscles. Rapid loss is not necessarily good loss.
  24. preop is not a function of bmi or weight per se it is what the doctor/insurance want. The typical is to lose 10% prior to surgery to shrink fatty liver but that will not happen in 14 days. Part of the prep is to clean out the stomach (at least day before) for the surgery. I am with Kaiser, my preop was 1 day - the day before nothing to eat after Breakfast except liquid and morning off nothing even if brushing teeth, spit out Water don't swallow. One moment cheating not so bad but you can't have the Cookies or things with seeds for at least 4 to 6 weeks post op so small things don't get lodged into staple line inside the stomach.
  25. You will be fine. It does not have to be clear liquids. You can have things like protein shakes, apple sauce, mashed potatoes. I also had mashed peas and other mashed foods. The doctor will or should give you a list of things. Even in hospital the diet was water, tea, apple sauce.
