  1. I am supposed to wait 3 minutes between bites, so that my tummy has a chance to feel full. I have found this really hard to do, especially for my lunch at work. I have been eating slower than I did before but not the 3 minutes in-between bites and my sleeve still gets full rather quickly. Am I hurting my sleeve or weight loss if I don't wait the three minutes?
  2. Before I had my sleeve, I joined this site and read a lot about people not feeling hungry after being sleeved. I just completed my first week of solids today. I eat 3 meals a day, of course extremely small ones but I find myself getting hungry about 3 hours after I eat and sometimes have to add a 4th meal in. My meals consist of basically just protein, like chicken, fish, turkey. Is this normal?? I am wondering why I feel hungry when many say they never feel hungry.
  3. My Dr. has me waiting a half hour after eating, I could not even imagine 1 hour. :-(
  4. Thanks everyone for helping me out. Now I will not feel so guilty when I don't wait the 3 minutes.
  5. I am starting to ask myself, wth did I do? Including the pre-op diet, I was on a liquid diet for 1 month and now a week of pureed, with one week left before I can move onto solids. My pureed diet has been very close to liquid because there is very little that I have found that I enjoy when I puree it. I am getting very frustrated and having a hard time watching others around me eat while I am drinking a Protein shake or Soup again. I just want regular food. I almost feel like I am starting to get a little depressed because of it and it is making me think I should have never of gotten this damn sleeve. I have read different things on here that it gets easier. Does it really and when? I have been doing and feeling great up until this past week and down I can feel my spirits getting lower and lower each day. HELP!

    VSG Surgery vs. C-Section

I had 2 -sections and the recovery of the surgery from them was much worse than the sleeve. After my c-sections I needed to take my pain medicine and had a hard time walking and getting around. When I came home after having the sleeve, I did not take pain medicine. My stomach was sore but I could deal with it. The day after I returned home, I took a 4 block walk and felt fine. Before a full week post op I was walking a mile with no problem. Recovery from the sleeve was much much easier for me.

    Kidney stone

OMG... I totally know what you are going through. I have a history of kidney stones since I was 19 and I am 34 now. I have had stents placed in my ureters and several lithotripsies. I am on medication for them but had to stop taking them because of my new sleeve (8-9-11), I think I might have to wait for the swelling to go down before I will be able to swallow the pills. I know I have a few in my kidney that have not traveled down but I am scared they may decide any day without my medicine and me trying so hard to get the Fluid in each day to keep hydrated. I know the pain you are in and it is absolutely horrible!! I would not wish kidney stone pain on my worst enemy. I wish you the best of luck and it comes out quickly! Stay Strong
  9. I cannot stand this liquid diet anymore!! I was on it 2 weeks pre-op and now 2 weeks post-op. I want food!! It is starting to make me very miserable and feeling depressed. I cannot wait til Tuesday when I begin my pureed diet for 2 weeks. I just hope that after a few days, I don't feel the same way. I just need to get through the next few days and time seems to be standing still, ughhh.

    Liquid diet

LOL, I'd really hate it if I only lost that much. I am actually down a total of 26 lbs from the liquid diet, I just don't know how to update the tracker. Do I just make a new one each time?

  16. I just had surgery on Tuesday. I am on day 3 post op and had to take my flintstone and calcium citrate vitamins today. I used to like flintstone vitamins but this morning I had a hard time with the taste and getting it down. The Calcium vitamin is huge! My husband crushed it for me and added it to water. I had to hold my nose and sip it. Does anyone have any suggestions that would help me get them down easier? Does anyone know of a brand of the calcium that is not so BIG??? Thanks in advace for your help.
  17. Thank you guys so much for all of the responses I am going to try out some different things to see if it helps with the vitamins
  18. Well I am home! I made it through surgery Tuesday and came home about 2 hours ago. The surgery went great although I did experience a lot of nausea and vomiting the first night and was feeling really hot . My mom and husband were wiping me down with ice-cold cloths and had to run out and buy me a small fan for my room. I did feel a bit better yesterday, still some discomfort in my belly but still had some vomiting last night. Today the pain is better, I did a lot of walking in the hospital. I was very happy to get out the IVs as they were making my arm swell very bad. I took a little nap in my own bed and it felt much better the hospital beds. My husband got my pain med filled and I tried taking it about an hour ago and it was horrible! It made me throw up again. They did not flavor it with anything. My mom just called the pharmacy and they said in order for it to be flavored u have to ask, well I think they should ask the patient! Needless to say, my husband just made a trip back to get it flavored and hopefully this will help. One of the hardest things that I am having trouble with is getting down Fluid. Yesterday it took me 45 min. to get down 1 ounce. You don't think it would be hard but it is! I am now getting 3-4 ounces down an hour but hard to get them in every hour. I hope this gets easier as the days go on. I am looking forward to the upcoming days and weeks as I know I will get better and get used to drinking. I just wanted to let you guys know how I made out.
  19. I am 3 days post op, I had my surgery on Tuesday 8-9-11. I was having problems with the pain medicine in the hospital because the moriphne was making me vomit, which made my belly hurt even more. I decided to tell them on Wednesday to not give me anymore moriphine and just the toradol which is a non-narcotic. That helped me fine with the pain. I came home with a script for liquid percocit but it made me throw up as soon as I sipped it, I'd rather suffer from soreness than throw up and be in worse pain. I have not had any medicine to help with the pain since Thurs. morning and am doing pretty good. I have the worse soreness when I am laying down and go to turn or move around. Today I was even able to take a walk with my family with no problems. I am a 34 year old female and have had 2-c-sections, for me the pain is nothing compared to those. I also suffer from kidney stones and have had several lithotripsies in the past. I did do a 2 week pre-op liquid diet before surgery and am now on another 2 week liquid diet. Weeks 3&4 I will move onto a pureed diet. I hope some of this helps you
  20. I just got off the phone with scheduling from the hospital and my sleeve is scheduled for 6:00 AM tomorrow! I cannot believe it is here. I am feeling really excited and can't wait til it is over. I have a really good feeling about it and want to keep this positive attitude going into surgery and coming out. I just hope nothing changes it. The nervousness has not come yet but I am sure it will as tonight approaches and especially the morning hours. I will let you guys know how I make out. Please keep me in your prayers and thank all of you for your support and encouraging words, they mean more than you know!
  21. Thank you everyone for your support! I love this site so much, it has helped me get to the place I am! I look forward to sharing my new life, that starts tomorrow, with everyone. Thanks Again

    Surgery on 9 Aug! Yikes!!!

Right now I am really excited and cannot wait for it to get here! Today I went food shopping and prepared some meals, for the few days I am in the hospital, for my children, 2 girls 4 and 9. I want to make it easy for the person who will be watching them while I am in the hospital and my husband & mom are with me. Did you have to do the 2 week pre-op liquid diet? I am on day 13 and lost 15 lbs. I never thought I would have been able to complete it but I am one day away!! My Dr. said that this is the hardest part and I cannot believe it is almost over. I told myself that I will know if it is meant to be by whether or not I can do the pre-op liquid diet for 2 weeks. Well I did it, so it must be meant to be I look forward to hearing how you make out and will be thinking of you. Our new lives begin very soon. Good Luck!

  25. Today is day 8 of my pre-op diet and yesterday I almost lost it, my self control I started my monthly cycle 2 days ago and I was craving chocolate candy and feeling so irritable and annoyed that I could not have what I want. I told my husband that I don't think I can do this and started tearing up. Thank God he is very supportive and encouraged me to keep on fighting and not to give up! Somehow I found it in me AGAIN to continue. So here I am day 8, 6 more to go, til the big day. I am so excited that it is almost here and pray the rest of the week flies by.
