Honestly why r men A****? 5days post op
I have found through my many, many years on this planet that most men suffer from "HGS"--Hanging Genitalia Syndrome. Gravity is the cause. Over years, gravity's force pulls on the male hanging genitalia, which in turns pulls on all other cells of the body--mostly certainly the BRAIN. Years and years of this constant downward pull of a man's brain cells damages them and the brain cells rot and die. This makes any intellectual thinking almost impossible. Also lost is attention span and most if not all romantic sensibilities. So, my female friends. Remember and try to be compassionate with the men in your lives. The "clods" that they can be at times is not all of their own doing... IT'S GRAVITY!

Benefits of Sleeve Gastrectomy Wane at 5 Years
Take this and chew on it: I will be 5yrs out on June 6th. I did not acknowledge my WLS until this past Jan. I have discovered that my sleeve is still viable and working now that I am mentally prepared to work with it. I have lost 30# since Feb 20th.-- not as rapid a weight loss as most sleevers lose at first, I am delighted that my sleeve and I are working in harmony--at last. I truly believe that a sleeve with work with a body and long as the mind is also prepared to work with it.

How long was your pre-op process?
My insurance company required 4 months, so 4 months it was. It seemed like I needed that much time to get in all of the required testing and seminars, so the time passed quickly.

Rant: Obnoxious comments
Families. We all have them---for better or for worse. Sometimes it must seem to them that they are damned if they do and damned if they don't. Some of us bitch if no one comments on our weight loss, and then others don't like what we hear when our families do comment. And sometimes isn't it great to know that whatever else is causing stress within the family we can count on our mothers to say what's on their minds? "Just say it and get it out so now we can deal with it", kind of reaction. I would rather know what family is thinking rather than hear what they are saying from mutual "friends". I believe that sometimes we, as children (no matter what our age) need to give our mothers a "pass", every once in awhile. Choose our battle , so to speak. Address the comment with her, air it out and come to terms. Don't be the child that stands over a grave thinking, "if only..."

Having a rough day
Do you have to eat? If it repulses you so, why don't you just stick with the Protein Shakes until YOU are ready to eat? Maybe you're just not ready to eat yet. Everyone is different. Why not call your surgeon's office/nutritionist's office and ask. It's worth a call if doing so will possibly make these first few weeks easier. Feel better and let us know, please.

Got my new Fitbit Charge HR
So far, so good. By the way, my daughter's sister-in-law who lives in Va. Beach also bought one on Amazon. Hers, too is Water PROOF.

Got my new Fitbit Charge HR
That's what I said. It's a Fitbit charge HR, purchased on Amazon. I only called them to clarify any confusion only to end up more confused than ever. I saved the box and the pamphlet just in case there is any questions further down the road. They wanted to know if I wanted to send it back in exchange for a new one that is Water resistant. Hell no!! I love my water proof Fitbit.

First time posting! Broth prep?
I made my own broth for awhile, but nowadays, I just buy wonton soup broth and add nutritional yeast to it. It not only adds a "bready" full body flavor to broth, but adds an additional 7-8g of Protein per every 2Tbls serving. Just do whatever feels "right" for you and your home life. You'll do just fine. We'll keep the light on for you next to "The Losers' Bench". I made my own broth for awhile, but nowadays, I just buy wonton soup broth and add nutritional yeast to it. Got my new Fitbit Charge HR
I know. I have read and researched and actually called. I even sent pictures of the box that mine came in to Fitbit for clarification. It clearly says, "Water proof", on two different places on the box as well as in the pamphlet that came with it. When the Company asked me where it was purchased, I told them, "Amazon". Like I said I've worn it everyday since my b'day--Valentines' Day--3/wk in the pool. ????

Would like a buddy my age
You're in good company here. There are several "good ol' folk" within this support group. I, myself am 63yr. As you read and post you will become more familiar with everyone. Yes, the "younguns" outnumber us of "golden times", but as my mother would say, "what do they know?". I am far too polite (?) to tell you the other's ages, but they will tell you. You are very welcome here on, "The Losers' Bench".

Would like a buddy my age
--probably would be easier to find a buddy within your age group if we knew what your age group is... just saying... Welcome!

Got my new Fitbit Charge HR
My fitbit charge HR is Water PROOF. It was ordered from Amazon and came with all of the documentation telling about how it is waterproof. I have worn it three times a week swimming since Valentines' Day without incident.

Stomach Virus
Have the ginger ale, just flatten it. It's the ginger, not the bubbles that settles the gut. Feel better

Having a very hard and discouraging time at the plateau
Maybe going to some support group meetings will help. I think you "need a talk'n to". Your "mojo" needs a boost. It's worth a try, isn't it? Everyone every now and then needs a revamping. Get moving! Your journey is not complete. You got this, my friend.

Non Scale Victories for the week......let's celebrate!
I went kite flying with my grandsons. Even if I am able to do so because I am finally healed from my spinal surgery , I would have never been able to fly kites 84#s ago. Today I am humbled and blessed-- and-- Smiling. Who doesn't smile when flying a kite??

Medication question
I set the alarm on my cell phone as a reminder to take my meds. I have heard that some folks are taking the gummy or chewy Vitamins as their part of their morning and afternoon Snacks as they are sweet. I just find that setting my alarm is easy for me. You'll figure out what works for you. Sometimes a talk with your MD or even your pharmacist can help decide what can be taken with what.

Plantar Fasciitis
I had it in my right foot along with a bone spur. At that time surgery was not done. I went to PT for stretching 3x/wk for a month. One of the specialty doctors in our practice was an orthopod, so whenever I had a dog show coming up he would wrap my foot for me. OMG! I would have married that man (unfortunately we were both married)!!When he wrapped my foot, I had absolutely no pain. It took 18months, but the pain finally did cease. I have had no reoccurrence since--10yrs. I have heard that surgery is now being done again for plantar fasciitis. Good luck. Feel better.
