    Southern CA Kaiser Perm. Sleevers!

i was sleeved by dr.suh exactly 1 month ago and i have lost 34 lbs in one month...i finished my options class in late 02/2011 but took off a while to have the surgery...!!!
  2. we'll tomorrow ill be exactly one month since my surgery and i had my one month appointment with my surgeon's RN today and to my surprise i lost 34 pounds since surgery...i also got updated to my regular diet minus the red meat, pork, tortillas, bread, rice and Pasta...my clothes are literally falling off but i really can't see the weight loss in the mirror. is it normal to lose this much weight with literally no physical exercise besides walking in the park and playing with my kids.? the RN told me that im doing excellent with my weight loss compared to others but I still have a long way to go...so happy that i can now have turkey and chicken along with fruits and vegetables since my puree diet was getting old really quick. i have had 0 complications since surgery and my high blood pressure is literally non-existant.

how soon can you drive after surgery?

my surgeon had me on a 1 week driving restriction...!!!
  4. the brand i have is "zoi" greek yogurt with an egyptian on the label...!!!
  5. im looking at my list now and it says: Yogurt, low fat or non fat (plain,unflavored/unsweetened,no added fruit) sounds like a death sentence to me
  6. that would be an option if i was allowed but my surgeon said no added items to the greek yogurt...still don't see how it would bypass that nasty taste though
  7. don't know how you guys do it but im 2 weeks post op and bought some nonfat greek yogurt and spit the first bite out since it was terrible...!!!
  8. yes you can choose your own surgery...i also have kaiser so cal and had my vsg last friday with Dr.Suh at www.suhbariatric.com ...15 lbs lost so far in one week and still losing...!!!
  9. Im currently on my two week pre-op diet which my surgeon put me on a high protein, zero starch diet and have a question about pinto beans...The last 5 days of my diet I have to give up red meat and lettuce along with green leaf vegetables and was wondering if its ok to eat pinto beans...I know they are high in protein but have read various threads that say they are starchy and not starchy...Im only supposed to be on a one day full liquid diet the day before my surgery...!!!

    Pinto Beans Question

oh well thanks for breaking my heart
  11. We'll I only got a couple more days to go before it's time for me to walk the plank for VSG surgery next week...Im currently on my 2 week high Protein, zero starch diet and it's going pretty good after making it out of the first day with headaches...Tomorrow I will be completing my final labs and am scheduled on 09/13/2011 with my final surgeon interview...I completed the Kaiser Options program back in 02/2011 and turned down a fast moving surgery date process since I wanted to make a little more extra money at work. I will be going with Dr.Suh from www.suhbariatric.com and will be having my VSG surgery at Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar,CA on 09/16/2011...I was really nervous at first but im pretty much just going with the flow now and just following all my doctor's instructions before surgery so that way no complications will arise during surgery (hopefully). Im 5'9 and weight about 285 and have been overweight most of my life without any medical problems and have also tried and failed with all the popular fad diets throughout the years...Hopefully this decision is the best one I ever make and I would of preferred to of lost the weight with diet and excersice but unfortunately im one of the few that it hasn't worked on. Let the journey begin

    RNY VS VSG @ Kaiser

I was also told by a Kaiser So Cal doctor that he recommended that I get the RNY because I had a lack of Vitamin D but I said "chale tamale"...My surgeon asked me what surgery I wanted and I said VSG and he said it was a good decision...Im scheduled to have my surgery on 09/16 with Inland Valley Medical Center...I also attended the options program with Kaiser and finished back in 02/2011 but stalled a surgery date since I wanted to make extra money at work...Best of luck in your decision...!!!

Noob on a mission (sort of)

Had my consultation with the surgeon yesterday and everything went great...Had to watch a 30 minute video but i didn't fall asleep so all was good...Told me that my surgery would happen sometime in june but i postponed it for later in july since ill be going on vacation...All I have to do now is attend a psych eval next wednesday and attend a seminar and i will be good to go...!!!
  16. Hello Everybody: My name is Eric and I am 30 years old from Moreno Valley,CA...Im new to this forum and would just like to say that I have learned a lot from all the materials that are provided on this site and from reading other peoples progress and profiles...This site has definitely helped me get a grip on the life changing experience by going through with VSG and the online support groups are muy bueno. I haven't had any WLS yet but am in the process of going through it as we speak that's if I can get over the fear of having surgery period...I have never been under the knife before and hate the site of blood and just knowing that I will be forcing myself to walk into a hospital for surgery is still weighing on my shoulders. I currently have Kaiser Permenente out in Riverside and I actually just received my authorization and approval forms yesterday for WLS at Crown Bariatric in Murrieta,CA with Dr.Suh...I attended and completed the Options Program (12 weeks) at Kaiser Permanante in Corona,CA and have done all the required tests besides the Psych Eval. My girlfriend (registered domestic partner) actually works for Kaiser so our medical insurance including dental and vision are free of charge monthly along with our son and daughter...I also don't have to pay one penny for WLS either but I still can't come to the terms of actually going through with it just yet since I would rather of done it with diet and excercise but due to my insulin resistance that is really not possible. I have decided to get the VSG instead of the Gastric Bypass and Lap Band since I have read that its one of the safest methods of WLS and it produces about the same amount of weight loss as the Gastric Bypass without the complications...One of the reviewing doctors at Kaiser suggested that I get the Gastric Bypass but I just refuse to get it since I would prefer the sleeve instead. I have also been on Phentermine for the past month until I get a surgery date and have lost 7 lbs so far but its only a short term pill...I also have to pay for it out of pocket so it really doesn't do me any good just to be on a appetite suppression pill but it is what it is...I still haven't had a consultation with the surgeon but should be hearing from him soon since I just got approved. I am currently 5"10 and weigh 287lbs with the highest being 295...I don't have any medical problems besides 40+ BMI along with barely high blood pressure along with mild sleep apnea...Heart disease does run in my dad's side of the family so this is something for me to think about...Hopefully everything goes great throughout my decision and if I do decide to got through with it I will update with progress as they come. Hispanic Baldy =)
