  1. OMG..CHECK THIS ONE OUT!!!!! The last bike I owned (20 years ago) was the classic 10speed, skinny tire, low-handlebar model. I hated that bike. Hunching over the handlebars killed my back. I need a more upright style of bike with some cush for my tush! My only problem now is which one to choose. What is everyone else riding out there? __________________
  2. D...CHECK OUT THIS POST FROM 5-22-07 Yes, DH and DD and I bought new bikes...not the expensive kind just Schwinns from KMart, and we are riding on average 5 miles a night..sometimes more sometimes less. I am so happpy with myself after I am done. There is a hill by my house that I had to walk up when I first started, but now I can bike all the way up it. I love it!!!I almost cried when I did that. Today I rode to video store instead of driving...a 4 mile trip. I love that I can ride to stores and get small things and not waste gas. Deanna
  3. brandy.... I wish I did. Do you use a cycle computer for your bike? I have a cateye wireless, but it does not do calories, but the higher priced ones do. Where abouts are you from??? I am from Indiana. I started out last year only being able to do about 3-5 miles a night. We have been able to add more in, but my average stays between 11-14mph. SOmetimes higher sometimes not. Depends on where we ride. Good luck trying to find what you are searching for Have you tried nashbar.com or performancebike.com BTW...My name is Traci, they call me HP on the other cyclying thread
  4. I sure hope there is someone taking pictures.....OLOL Well...I did it...I rode at work......it was challenging.....we even was rained on....kind of intimadating for me going down the hills and being wet.......on a fairly new to me bike......yikes...but.....we made it back safe and sound..wooohooo. The people were awesome too..real nice. Hope everyone had a good day
  5. d... You did not hurt my feelings.....I was just sayin I cant catch UP!!!!!!!!!
  6. my brother lives in Ossing NY...he wants us to come out sometime and visit, it would be a great thing to actually get to ride in Central park as well. If gas would only go down:)
  7. lovegrapes!!! We are all energetic and have had our ups and downs with our band, but all in all we are all here for one another and love to ride! I am challenging myself to go out of the comfort zone I enjoy so much and am riding with a group of people from work today. All very experienced riders, but we have been invited to go, and we are going. I am excited and nervous all the same....ughhhh Dropped my daughters bike off last nite at the LBS to get a complete tune up and have him check and fix the problems she is having. Hoping we get it fixed and back on the road for her.
  8. d...there is no way I am going to be able to keep up or catch up!!!! LOL I only was able to get in (due to time) 20 miles last night...The only thing we have close within 15 mon of the house is hills..which is ok, but.....you cant rack miles that way.. I was planning on riding tonight after work, but my daughters bike is going to the shop instead....something is wrong with the derailler and the pedals. SO.......you are forever ahead!!!! I am sad.....But.....I will still give it my all!!!!! It may be....I wonder if it is the 2008 model of it??? I looked at one and test rode a mens and the womens version of it is cremsicle...so...that was one I test rode....... Are you for sure getting it???????? Well.....keep on pedaling and having fun...eventually I will catch up............
  9. D.....I am signing off to go ride...LOL!!!! NO Cheating allowed either!!! LOL If only I was a stay at home mom again, I would be all over it!!! Check back later OHHHH AND LOVE THE BIKE!!! I test rode the mens version......aaahhhhhhhhhhhhh
  10. you are 60 freakin miles ahead of me girl!!!!!
  11. no I have not heard from her.....????? Ok, girl I am up for it....LOL So, what does the new bike you are looking at look like??? That sounds like a long week...my husband liked the one that BG is getting ready to do...maybe that can be something for us next year..?
  12. and my dear D...I noticed we are pretty close to the same amount of miles ridden....hmmmmm I am thinking CHALLENGE??????????
  13. D!!!! Hello my fellow bikin buddie!!!! I actually did not get to get the pilot....I purchased the Trek 2100 WSD....I do love the bike though...still trying to make adjustments...but all in all......defiantly glad I upgraded....:frown: As far as distance...depends on who is riding and where we go. Unlike you, we do have to drive just to ride anywhere which really stinks...loading the bikes, unloading , etc.....we do have a bike rack now which makes it allot easier than last year. So...If we ride with my 14 year old.....we usually go between 10-20 miles a night. If I ride with my 17 year old, we go about 15-30 miles. If john and I ride.....we go from 20-50 miles. But those events are usually just on the weekends or days off work. If I want to ride during the evening after work, we usually keep it under 20 miles. I did join a group at work and they cycle different times after work and they are of all skill levels. So, we may do one of there rides after work and see how it goes D...what kind of pedals do you have and are you going to put on your new bike???? I am still trying to get the hang of my clip less ones, love it as long as I am going..hate it if I need to stop...LOL Ok, sorry so long....
  14. where you headed to BG?? Sounds fun We ended up getting another short ride in last night...just before it stormed....ended up with some decent miles for the day. Supposed to be nice all week...hope to get in allot more
  15. Oh my We work at Crane and go through Loogootee all the time and I know exactly where wheatland is. Wow..small world I am a year out......It was the best choice I have ever made. email me anytime....
  16. welcome both of the new gals on here!!! It is so exciting to get a new bike.....I kind of went through several my first year of riding. I finally setteled down into a road bike though, but truly loved my trek hybrid I had. My daughter who is 14 just bought a Trek FX which is a hybrid/ fitness bike... Good luck to both of you and Happy riding!!!! SUzzie!!!!! WOW...a whole year....can you beleive it????? It is amazing how different we feel from a year ago.... Keep up the good work, and I hope it quits raining soon
  17. john and I got a nice yet, interesting ride in today. We went to the near by town to ride which was fine. But we wanted some more miles in and so we went into this town.... Well, being new on the road bike, plus first year in clip-less pedals, I was not real excited at all. Stop signs everywhere.....did not like that at all. I am having a hard time clipping out of both sides when I come to a stop. I do fine usually un-clipping on my right foot, than I usually just put my foot down to stop...yea.....does not always work right...LOL but even though we had some interesting points...still had a good ride....Love the day it was so nice out. Hope all had a great weekend....
  18. hello I am from Indiana.....I have a sister who lives near Charleston.... best of luck
  19. famrika Welcome I am from Evansville. Graduated from Reitz in 86...I live near Jasper, In now though. I had my surgery last May up north. My daughter is meeting with a doctor this monday in Evansville. Where are you at on your process??? Traci
  20. J...see you changed your ticker!!!! WOOHOOOOOO Wow...you are going to be in the 180's before you know it I went for a short ride tonight.....did a few challenging hills (and made them) the handle- bar adjustments seem to have helped allot....I am really dumb, because I did not realize where my hands should be??? Anyway...used my daughters gloves that did not have gel in them, and that seemed to help as well. Bad news is, the red, white and blue Trek we bought for leslee is making a loud creaking noise when she pedals.....we think it may be the bearings?? Husband is trying to fix them, but they may be going into the shop....she is mad...we all have new bikes but her....hers is used..so we may look for her a newer one.....when I get the money
  21. okie dokie I wish I had the money to afford a trainer.....but I dont. I also wish I was not so BORED today.... I think I will ride this evening.... I feel like each day I am getting closer to that goal....and they are goals I am setting for me....But than i have weeks like this one...when I am like WTH!!! OH well
  22. oh I am so with you D....my husband does the same stuff to me on hills...it use to bother me allot, but now I just go...and if I stop I stop....no big deal..but isnt it great how we feel when we make it to the top...even if we are in granny gear... I need to get myself going.....we all have come so far...we will keep going!!!!
  23. J I am shooting for being at 200 or as close to it by August 16th. Dews??? ME>?????? I am making a effort to change this ASAP! This is not helping me...I am defiantly not consuming too much food as calories, so this is my only fault.....other than laziness!!! HAHA I like the small bike shops....and I know there is a college town within an hour from me, and some of the shops are snooty, where others are not.I just want to visit Performance....Never been. I am planning on starting this effort to get back on the downwards scale today.....I like the way i look and feel, and i think it has given me the "OK" to be comfortable...but I want so much more.....which is why I added the quote at my signature....have to keep pushing for the ultimate goal and not get into a rut!
  24. Turler I know what you mean. I am like that in the morning as well. But, I am making some bad food choices and bad drink choices and it is starting to show in the scale. I am going to have to hit it hard if I want to get to my goal by August. I have a short term goal for myself and I really want to get to it......just need to get my BUTT in gear If gas was not so high and I was not broke we would be doing some more rides that are coming up. But honestly, we can save money and ride local and have just as much fun....wthout the t-shirt of course... Turler..hang in there...and good luck in the DH job that would be good. I would love to visit Columbus...I want to go to Performance bike there!!!
  25. daba373.. when riding for a long period that is good advice....But, I like to keep my cadence at the same level if possible. Hello to all
