    Hiccups ..why?

OMG, the burping is the worst for me. I tell everyone that is my only complaint. It is so embarrassing and you cannot help it!! I would give anything to figure out how to eat and drink without swollowing so much air. My doctor says it will get better but, I am 10 weeks out and still burping away!

    2 months after sleeve

I think 38 pounds is amazing. I never could have lost that much weight this quickly on my own. Look you are almost 1/2 way to your goal in only 2 months. Celebrate it!!! I know I will when I get there. I have a lot further to go than you. Keep up the good work!
  3. It happened to me too and let me tell you, "This Too Shall Pass!" During my second and third week after surgery I fluctuated between the same three pounds for TWO WEEKS!! It was so frustrating. I only wish I had take my measurements during that time because, I know I lost a lot of inches during this time. Once I FINALLY started losing again, I also have become obsessed with weighing myself. I am so afraid it is going to go back up!! I think our bodies go through shock. We did have major surgery and we are eating a fraction of what we did before. It is a HUGE adjustment both mentally and physically. It took me a while to figure this out. I sounds like you are doing all of the right things. My advice is to be patient, (as hard as this is!) be kind to your body and before long you will be a big time loser. Congratualtions on your surgery and good luck on your journey!!
  4. How are you doing???

  5. I had my surgery Nov 1st and lost 13 lbs very quickly in that week. Since then I have only lost two more pounds and even went up a little today. (0.4 lbs) I'm just concerned that I am already stalling out. I weighed 267.2 today. This is the weight I have always been able to get down to but, not any lower. I have not been under this weight in at least 4 years. So, I am hoping that once I am safely past it, it will all be downhill from there. I am praying that it is just my body adjusting. Did anyone else do this!!! I'm so worried that I am doing something wrong.
  6. Thank You all for your encouragement. I wanted to post back that the "stall" has FINALLY passed! After bouncing between the same three pounds for TWO weeks!!! My weight finally started going down again last Saturday. I was skeptical at first but, I have lost a total of 6 pounds this week. Hallelujah!!!! I feel so much better!! I wish I would have been taking my measurements during the time of the stall because, even though I was not losing punds, I know I lost several inches. There is NO arguing with my clothing. Everything is very loose. YEAH!!! I had this surgery as a birthday present to myself. I am so glad I did!! For the first time in over 10 years I feel like I am headed in the right direction and will succeed in losing this weight!!
  7. I'm doing great! I'm not going to say all has been easy but, it is defintely worth it!! I hit my first plateau weeks 2&3 right after surgery. I think my body was just in shock!!! But, since I got past that, it has been smooth sailing!!

So, your surgery is Dec 20th. That is awesome. You get to start the new year creating a new you!!!!

  8. Sometimes while I am chew, chew, chewing my food, I seem to make sooo much saliva that it makes me seriously nauseous. I wind up not being able to eat and it just compounds the whole issue. It is so frustrating. I wish I had a scopalomine patch!! Does this happen to anyone else???

    Constipation

I had this problem too. When I talked to my doctor's PA about it she too told me to use MiraLax every day for a few weeks and then as needed. That stuff works wonders!! They also told me I could take it three times a day to get things moving. It is nice because I just add it to my drink and you don't even know it is there. No cramping or anything. It really works.

    8 week update!!!

Wow, that is so awesome!!! Way to go!!!
  12. Wow, reading your post was like Dejavu' (sp??) I remember feeling the same way. I too was 36 when I had my surgery. I turn 37 tomorrow and gave this surgery to myself for my birthday. What better gift to give to yourself. I am so happy for you. It is awesome to see that you are in Houston. I am too. Our stats are about the same. Today has been one month since I had my surgery and I am down 25 pounds. It has not all been easy. It is such a adjustment. I can tell you that Tiffykins is right, the faster you get up and around, the faster you will feel better but, take it easy. I keep overdoing it and hurting myself. This has made my recovery slower. If I just would have waited another few weeks to rearrange my sons play room!!! It hasn't been terrible just pain in one spot on my right side. My PA says that is where the most internal stitches were. Good Luck tomorrow. I will be praying for you!!

    Time Off Work?

I had every intention of going back after one week. I think I am so tough. But, there was NO WAY!! I was still in a lot of pain. I took 2 weeks. And even then I was super tired half way through the day. I think it also helps to have the time off to adjust to your new way of life. It's a huge adjustment.

    Eating everday

I have heard of putting crystal light in with the Greek yogurt. My friend LOVES it with lemonade. I have not tried it yet but need to. I am having a terrible time getting all of my protein in.

    Houston Texas Vertical Sleeves.

I live in the Clear Lake Area (League City actually) and I think my doctor said there was a group down here. I have not started that part yet but, I can definately see where it would be beneficial. I don't know what I would do without this website. It has helped me so much. I used Dr. Erick Wilson at UT Physicians in Bellaire. They have been great. I was a little concerned because before surgery it would take days to get a call back but, since surgery I have called twice and they call me right back. I have absolutely no complaints and I LOVE Dr. Wilson. He has a great personality, he looks at you when he speaks, always asks if he has answered all of your questions and even though there is no doubt he is super busy, he does not make you feel like he can't wait to leave the room. I would recommend them to anyone. It would be great to have a group that meets in the Clear Lake area if there isn't already one.

    Blenders

I am only 2 weeks out and I've been using my Magic Bullet. I started mushies today and it was great. Good Luck.

    Please take a minute~

Funny, I should have read this before starting a new topic. I feel like I am stalled too. I think i am having too many carbs. I started on mushies today and had some broccli rice casserole blended. I am working at getting the 60 grams of Protein and know I was short on my Water the last two days. It just seems like all the things that are soft that I can have right now are all high in carbs. Plus, I know I am only getting 6-700 cals so surely I should still lose. I have not started working out but, I have been cleaning a lot the last few days trying to get caught back up. My stomach is still really sore. Probably because I have a hard time taking it easy with a three year old. We will get there! I am certain of it. I am just trying to stay positive. I'm so very glad I found this site.
  19. I had my surgery on Nov 1st and have been super hungry the last two days. It's like the hunger just turned itself back on. I am really struggling and driving my husband nutz. I went and got some egg drop soup tonight and it was very satisfying. I am starting on the puree tomorrow. Not sure what I am going to eat at this phase. I feel like I have been having so many carbs. I eat Malt-o-meal, cream of wheat and potato soup. I don't like the cream soups they are too rich. They make me sick to my stomach and I have been getting two Protein shakes down a day. I have lost 15 punds since my surgery day. I just wish I was at a comfort level with what to eat. I miss my veggies and meat. I guess I will have them soon enough. I will tell you. Anyone who thinks this is the easy way out needs to think again. This part has been really, really hard for me. I know one day I will look back and forget how hard it was. Kind of like child birth I guess!! Hah! I can not tell you how much this website has helped me.
  20. I know all docs are different however, My paperwork from the very beginning says we can drink flat soda. Even in my nutrition class she said to let it sit out a while and then drink it. I have weaned myself and have not even craved soda but, if you are maybe this would help. I already burp with just about everything I drink so, I don't dare go there yet. But, I'm only a week and a half post op.
  21. Well, I took the advise of others and drank some Gatorade. I had about 12oz of it tonight and feel 100% better!!! I don't know what I would do without this website! Thanks so much everyone!!
  22. I'm one week out and right there with ya. I am just exhausted today!! I have not started the Vitamins yet either. I think I start them next week. I made me some Cream of Wheat with skim milk and about a half tbsp of Peanut Butter. I made half of a serving and don't even eat a third of it but, the warmth feels good on my tummy and the varitey helps. I know I have not had enough Protein or Water yet today but, I just have been so exhausted! I slept all afternoon! I am going to go back to work on Wednesday so I have got to get this figured out. I wish I had some Gatorade here. I should probably try that. Good Luck everyone.
  23. WOW, it amazing to see so many people that had their surgery the same day as me. We can all go through this together!!! I was doing great until about 11 o'clock this morning. That is when the exhaustion hit me. I slept all afternoon and woke up with a headache. I too know I am not getting all of my Protein or Water. I do have to tell you though that I LOVE my protein shakes. I am using Lean Body by Labrada. I have tried the vanilla Ice Cream, Strawberries and Cream and chocolate Ice Cream and LOVE them!!! Best of all. 17oz of those are 40 grams of protein. I was drinking the Myoplex lite but, they are only 20 grams so I figure these give me more bang for my buck. PLUS, they have a resealable lid so, I can put it back in the fridge. You can not reseal the Myoplex and these things are expensive!

    time off of work?

My surgeon suggested two weeks. So me being me, I said I would take one. My surgery was November 1st and today is my one week and I could not do it. I got up, got ready for work, took the kids to school and called my boss on the way home. I am just not ready. I was so exhausted. I like several others on here however, have the option of working from home some. So, that is what I am doing today. I worked some on Wednesday and Thursday and I will work today. But, my office is an hour drive minimum. My abdomin is still sore and my ab muscles especially on the right side are very sore. That is really the only pain I have. It is my goal to go back to work on Wednesday. I think I will be ready then. Good Luck to you ALL. I am SOOOO glad I found this site! Created by MyFitnessPal.com - Free Calorie Counter
