  1. hi!! congrats! Dr.Alami is great! he was my surgeon.wishes for a speedy recovery and success on your weight loss journey!Alice
  2. Hi everyone! My name is Alice and i had surgery sept last year with Dr.Alami.I was/am retired so I didn't have a job to go back to and i am glad for that.I had no problems and just took it easy but was waiting til I "felt like myself" again.it seemed to take about a month.so it is different for everyone and maybe it depends on your age too.take care,i am enjoying the encouragement we all give to each other.i didn't like the fact that the rny and sleeve were lumped together with almost no info on the sleeve and that drove me to web sites such as this and obesityhelp.com to get my questions answered or i might have had a different surgery.
  3. hi!! how are you? i had the 6 month check p and it is a class.we went upstairs to have bp and weigh in then to the 2nd floor class room and met with the nut, nurse phillips and another nurse,i forgot her name.it was 2 hours and they handed out your lab results and if you had something on them that needed clearing up,they are there for questions.my labs were good so i went home.they said there would be another appt in 6 more months.there were about 15 in the class.hope you are doing well,Alice

  15. i'm thinking the sutured area will grow together and form scar tissue,i don't see how the stomach can be made whole again should you need it again.
  16. sorry i haven't heard of comlication insurance.don't know the answer...
  17. when i went to orientation i was the "smallest" person there at 5'1" 213 lbs.when i told my brother he said, well that should tell you something.like i really wasn't morbidly obese, that these people made me look smaller??well no, compared to the average "normal"person i look like a box...lol.so the point being he made me feel like it isn't an emergency that i have the op.but....i know me...and i already added started gaining when i retired...sometimes i wonder if i AM doing the right thing.but i know my history and i need help.i don't want to be a box with borderline blood pressure issues...
  18. it is hard to know what normal will be,since i haven't been, with my eating! you look fantastic.i just got my date, sept 15th.now it is a reality.i will try not to freak out and hyperventilate .you are an inspiration!beautiful!congrats on your hubby coming home from Iraq.My son a marine was over there twice.I want him to stay here now and forever!! thank your hubby for me for being brave enough to go there, alice
  19. i have a date for sept 15th,i am scared! i hope to lose 60 pounds,lost 20 pre op.
  20. I live in Sac and am going to SSF for surgery.i changed the location early on due to the fact my brother lives in the so.bay and will be taking me on what ever date i get.I go to the kaiser support group on 4th sat ,maybe i will see you there.
  21. I am also going thru the program in ssf.my doctor is Dr.Alami and i have heard good things about him.so far i am happy with the process.Glad to see kaiser north people!!yay! I actually wanted the band, then i had heard that kaiser fremont doesnt do them any more and i asked why and was told because of the extra expense with the complication,dr visits and er visits, etc.thats when i looked into the sleeve and think that is the best option for me.
