i did the diabetes walk today and saw someone who hasnt seen me in about 5 years and when she saw me she said where is the rest of you...lol
  4. im 3 months out and i do not tolerate salads, im basically still on soft foods. im not really tolerating dense protein. i was a little concerned but my doctor wasnt, so it is still soft stuff for me
  5. hi all, im just wondering when everyone was able to tolerate meats. im almost 8 weeks out and i tried some meat yesterday and it got me sick. it was pretty tender and i chewed it to death. i have had ground meat, but im wondering about steak, eating a burger that kind of thing. also when could you tolerate fruits
  6. the rate of your weight loss really has nothing to do with you developing loose skin. alot of it is genetics, your age and how long you were overweight for. exercise will help...but basically once the skin is stretched...it is stretched
  7. i agree...i have had people say to my face that i took the easy way out. i tell them no i dont think so...i still need to exercise and watch what I eat and if ww had worked for me Id be skinny as I went there so many times. as far as the biggest loser, jillian would prob make me cry! anyway sure id lose weight if i exercised 8 hours/day but then who would pay my mortgage since who would have time to work...lol
  8. my doctor told me that over about 2 yrs it will stretch to about twice of what it is now

    I just don't understand

i have found for some people who are overweight or obese there is an element of jealousy. there are some people who i work with that this seems to be the case. my response has been they can do what ive done, but its alot of work. you still need to watch what you eat (i do not feel that I diet, but that i try to eat healthy) and you need to exercise. i wish you very good luck

    Struggling a tad.....

it will get better. it was easier for me this time because i was banded in 2008, so i was used to eating the smaller amounts. right now i eat 3-4 spoonfuls and im stuffed, so i try to stop before that. just hang in there when the weight starts coming off, it wont bother u as much. as far as the protein shakes i bought pb2 and it flavors the shakes nicely

i was a revision from the band to a sleeve. my sleeve surgery was 4 weeks ago today. i lost 70 lbs with the band and 15 lbs so far with the sleeve. with the band i went from a size 24w pants to a 14w/16w pants. well since i had the sleeve my14w are looking baggy, so this weekend i went shopping. i tried on a 14p pants and they fit good, so i decided to try the 12p. they fit, they were a little snug, but okay. i was so excited. i dont ever remember wearing that size ever.plus everyone at work is calling me skinny. i have never been called that in my whole entire life. ijust cant believe it
  14. hi all. i am from buffalo, ny. i have been a nurse for about 26 years. I have worked in icu, ccu and education. currently i am a manager of an icu. i have always been overweight. i was banded 2 yrs ago and lost 70 lbs with the band. unfortunately i developed a prolapse, had the band removed and got the sleeve on june 28th. ive lost about 12 lbs since getting the sleeve. my highest weight was 254lbs, today i weighed 172 lbs. my goal is 135 lbs..never thought id get there with the band, but i think it really is possible now
  15. i was revised from a band to vsg 2 weeks ago. today was my first day of mushies, but i kept it pretty light. i had some broccoli cheese soup today. i had bout 2-3 spoonfuls and didnt feel good all nite and then finally i vomited up a bunch of mucous...could have been the protein shake. i feel better now...but wondering if this happened to anyone else. i think ill just stay light tomorrow before trying mushies again
  16. thanks...im actually feeling better today
  17. i am 2 weeks out and actually i had more pain the second week than the first week, but i used tylenol. overall it wasnt bad. i was up walking the day of surgery.i wasnt weak either, just would tire out. im going back to work in 1 more week, but honestly i could of gone today. the only thing id be concerned about is any heavy lifting
  18. i am just starting my second week postop. i am experiencing more soreness the second week than i did the first, i do feel more tired. im just trying to rest more, i know it will get better
  19. im sorry what happened. i dont get on here as much as i like. i had a revision on 6/28 from the band to the sleeve. i certainly didnt have happen what you did, but the surgery was tougher than the band. it is taking me longer to recover

    Had surgery on the 29th

i had surgery on the 28th...believe it or not on my birthday. i was a revision from a band. im doing pretty good, having a hard time getting fluids in, but i had the same problem with the band
  21. i had the band inserted 2 years ago and i loved my band. there is alot more follow up and can be expensive. well i had a slip and had surgery monday but he was unable tp reposition the band so i now have the sleeve. i just had it done, so i cant really say i like it better. the surgery was more painful, not a ton more but a little bit. my doctor told me there is less follow up. it was hard going to the doctors every 6-8 weeks but he told me it would be every 3 months now

    3 days post op

i had the sleeve on monday. prior i had the band. to be perfectly honest the band surgery was much easier. pain after the band was basically none. im also having problems getting the fluids down, but i did have trouble with the band also. but i know ill get through this. well im going to go for a short walk now
