    hic-ups?

I have noticed something strange about my eating. I have definite limits that my body apparently has set up for me. When I have had enough at a meal I get the hic-ups. Does this happen to anyone else? I find it very odd and sometimes if I am out with friends it is somewhat embarrassing. Any ideas why this happens and what I can do to avoid this?
  2. Ok, so I guess I need to be hit in the head! It was pretty slow loss (if any) for almost 2 months. Decided to listen to my nutritionist and start writing down all my food. I even started using myfitnesspal.com found out I was eating way too many carbs and not enough Protein. Even though my calories were still low I just assumed I would still lose weight. Well I DIDN'T!!!!!! Kept track for three days and kept carbs under 30 and protein above 80 and I lost 6 lbs.!!!!! OK so it takes me awhile to catch on......got it now!!!

    I give up!!!!

I realize I need to focus on eating so here is what I eat: Breakfast: 1/2 c. cottage cheese & 1/3 chicken breast lunch: 2 oz pork & 1/2 c. cottage cheese Dinner: 1/3 chicken breast & 1/2 c. cottage cheese Snack: soy chip throughout the day 7 grams of Protein for 19 chips! Evening snack: Yup!!! 1/2 c. cottage cheese!! Yes I do really like cottage cheese.....I doctor it up a little, for breakfast i drizzle a little maple syrup on it lunch is lots of pepper and dinner is a small drizzle of french or even italian dressing ....changes the taste so it isn't boring. I also do 45 minutes of exercise every other day. I know this isn't forever but for now it works for me!
  4. I have Blue Cross/Blue Shield through my husbands work. I had no problem getting approved. They told me my BMI had to be 45 or over and mine was 52. They cover 100% of the hospital stay and 90% of the Doctor.
  5. I am seeing progress but it's pretty slow compared to some. I have a new walking cd and just got the air walker back that we lent to a friend a year ago. Hopefully I will start losing faster the faster I move!! I LOVE my sleeve!!!

    I am worried!

It looks like you are definitely not getting enough Protein. What size are the bottles of Water? You do need to eat to lose otherwise your body will cling to every ounce of fat we have! I try to get 70 grams of protein and 70 oz. of water. Every day is a new day so if you mess up just do better the next day! I know I can't put ANYTHING in my stomach until I have met my protein count. Then I can treat myself! You can do this!!! And it does get easier....

    problem foods...

I could eat cooked chicken (really, really cooked and then blended with mayo). I was actually told not to do eggs at all during mushies. I made a lot of broccoli Soups, squash Soup and cream of chicken soups. Mushies don't last long in the big scheme of things. Just make sure you get your Water and Protein in!! I actually put powdered milk in all my cream and cheese soups just to up the protein content and it doesn't affect the taste at all. It does get a lot easier!!!! s
  8. I was hoping to hit 50 lbs. lost by my 50th birthday (Sunday) but it wasn't to be.....I am pretty excited now though that it has finally happened, just a few days late!! 1st goal down, two more to go!! I remember when I first started on this journey (Dec of 2009) and I started to exercise. I could barely get through the warm up portion of a Leslie Sansone Walk & Kick video. Now I not only do the whole video I also put in her 4 mile power walk and I can get through about 1 1/2 miles!! I have gone from a tight 4x top to a really roomy 3x and a size 26 jean to a size 20! I still struggle to get enough Protein in but I do ok most days. The Water is not a problem but my wonderful hubby wants me to stop using Crystal Light because of the aspartame. Does anyone have any ideas???? I really can't stand plain water...... Every one have a great day!!!

    Thank you all!!!!!
  10. Great inspiration Tiff! Could you share your exercise routine.....I was sleeved on 12-15-2009 and seem to be losing a lot slower than some. I am actually thinking of doing a week of liquid again. Once again, GREAT JOB!!
  11. I finally broke through!! It was almost three weeks at 237....three nights ago I started using ankle and hand weights with my workout videos and KAPOW!!! Lost 4 lbs in two days!!! The workouts kicked my butt but it was so worth it! Gotta keep stepping up the pace and not become complacent with the workout. Always push forward! On a sad note I have had caramel (my favorite thing on earth to eat:wink0:) twice now since my surgery on Dec. 15 and both time I got so sick I wanted to vomit but couldn't. A mixed blessing for sure!

    Scar positioning?

I have a 12 inch scar from gallbladder surgery (before it was done laproscopically) and my doc actually used that scar for the largest incision for my VSG. Not concerned at all about the VSG scars cuz of the gallbladder and 8 inch appendix scar (also done before it was done laproscopically). There are creams that will help. My son just had cysts removed from between his eyes and the doc recommended miderma(sp) and said that really helps. He also said you should NOT expose the scars to the sun without huge spf sunscreen for at least a year because the sun will actually make the scars darker.

  15. So, I posted a sample day of what I eat and was wondering why I wasn't losing anything. Thanks for all the help guys! I think it was a lack of Protein just like most of you said. I actually added about 1 1/2 oz. of chicken to every meal and I have lost 3 lbs!!!!! I put the chicken on my crackers (sorry, but I couldn't cut them out) Moving again and loving life! Thank you to all that posted....

    Sample Day?

Thank you all. I will try losing the crackers and upping the protein! Hopefully that will start something. I did actually exercise for a full hour last night...WOOT WOOT!
  18. I am six weeks out and was wondering what a sample day is like for food and exercise for some of you out there? It seems like the weight loss isn't going very quickly and I think I may be doing something wrong. My schedule is 1/4 c. cottage cheese for Breakfast about 1/2 c. cheese broccoli Soup and three saltines for lunch and another 1/2 c. of soup and three saltines for dinner. Snack at night is usually 4-5 saltines with butter (light) I also drink at LEAST two 32-oz. jugs of Water. I do between 30 and 45 minutes of exercise every other day. What am I doing wrong?????? Someone please help!
  19. Yay started losing again. Thirty pounds.....I knew I would have to exercise and it is working. So happy! I can fit into smaller jeans now and they are comfortable. I do have a question though. I haven't lost anything in the chest area, they just seem to be bigger. Is that common? In the past I would lose there first.....what's up with that?
  20. I was just curious if there was anyone on here from Michigan??

    Leaks?

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what a leak feels like and how long before that is not an issue? I am 16 days out and loving it!!
  22. I am almost two weeks out and my nutritionist said I could enter the mushy food stage!!! She said I could eat small curd cottage cheese, puddings, blended Soups and smooth meat. What is considered smooth meat? I bought bologna but it is so high in fat and sodium that I don't think that is what she meant. Any ideas......?
  23. newfor2010

    Smooth meat?

Thank you everyone.....I tried the bologna but it made me kind of queezy. The chicken worked well except it would have been much better on a cracker!!!! I was always a texture girl. Oh well.....for sure later!
  24. I had surgery on a Tuesday at 7:30 am and went home Wednesday around 6:00 pm. My husband was nervous for me but everything was fine. You need to listen to your body and help your doc make the right decision for you.:001_unsure:
  25. I am a week out and I had gotten my protein drinks from my Dr. I made a HUGE mistake by getting everything sweet! Fruit drinks, hot chocolate. ect....everything was sweet! I did manage to get through the whole week without choking on them but was seriously craving something savory. I was at the grocery store looking for something I could possibly use and my Dietitian called!!! She said I could progress to mushy. I was so thrilled so I went and got bean soup that had 12 gr protein and cottage cheese. I ate almost 1/3 cup of soup and a Tablespoon of cottage cheese. It was GREAT!
