  1. I wondered the same thing. It was a big step for me and I was afraid I was worrying everyone to death on here asking about the cons and would I be sorry and etc. I did not have mcuh pain at all. Getting used to not eating was challenging. I stayed on soups longer than others....I still like them. I had this done Dec 29 and I can say I am glad. I bought my first size 12 pants today!!!
  2. My doctor told me not to worry about protein. It really set me free. I was actually over eating trying to get it in and it was still impossible. He told me to just relax and let the surg work for me and to take my vitamins. I am so glad I was able to do that. I was sleeved on Dec 29th. I think it was Tiff that also said she did not worry about protein for a while. When I talked to my nutritionist, she told me that I really did not need but about 40 grams of protein a day anyway...not the 70grams that most people on here talk about. Really...don't worry about it....not yet anyway. It will all come!
  3. Thanks ya'll. I don't think I am really discouraged....just curious. I do want to make sure I am on track. I had lost a pound this morning!!!
  4. I know people say not to compare yourself to others but I really seem to be falling behind everyone else's wieight loss. I was sleeved on Dec 29 and weighed in that day at 218. I weigh about 186 now. I seem to loose a lb or 2 then it may be another week or longer before I lose any more. My dr said I would not lose as fast as others because of a lower bmi but goodness. Others that need to lose about the same amt of wt sure seem to be ahead of me.
  5. I lost the desire to eat. I think a lot of it had to do with all the gas in my stomach. I also did not want to drink and wound up dehydrated and back in the hospital. I don't crave anything and most foods just do not taste as good as it used to. It does not repulse me but it is just kinda there. Thank goodness I read on here about Prevecid working better for some people. I switched to that and it has made my life soooo much better. I just feel betters since I do not have gas and indigestion all the time. As far as feeling hungry, I really do not know how to explain it. Hunger does not feel like it did before I had surgery. I kind just kinda tell that it is time to eat. I do still find myself eating sometimes when I am not hungry. I also still eat to fast sometimes and boy is that miserable! Still have some old bad habits to work on.
  6. Thanks everyone. I am a little better but not 100% yet. At least it does not hurt to the point that I can not sleep anymore. Just trying to keep my head up!
  7. Thinoneday, I will have to check that out. I do not mean to block private messages. Try again later or see if you can email me.
  8. Thank you all so much. I really do not know what I would do without you!
  9. I think I am finally feeling better today. I worked yesterday and today and went to the chiropractor and got a massage today. I am still having such a hard time getting down any amount of food and drinking is very hard for me to do also. I know I do not want to get dehydrated again. That only makes the cramps and pain worse. The strange thing to me is I was not having any problems like these until last week and I was sleeved on Dec 29th. I guess it is a good thing this is not reversible or right now I think I would have that done. I am happy with the weight loss but goodness gracious, I do not understand how people say we will eat like normal people only smaller amounts. That would mean about 1 teaspoon of each item then I am full! I sure hope this gets better!
  10. So I wrote about my stomach aches, cramping, no energy. I went to the Dr yesterday and he put me back in the hosp. I was dehydrated. They did an endoscopy this morning which was normal. Bottom line is they do not know why the stomach cramps....especially 5 weeks after surg. They see more of this in the first couple of weeks afterwards. They sent me home with donnatal. I sure hope it gets better soon! Has anyone else had these issues?
  11. Have you tried it yet. I hope it is good. I did not like the one I tried...even after adding splenda.
  12. I am back on liquids w just a little food in it, Like chicken noodle soup. A few secs after I swallow, I get a pretty sharp pain. It hurts under my l ribs and behind my belly button. I wonder if something is having a spasm. Thank goodness I have a dr appt tomorrow w my surgeon. What kind of ppi are you all taking? I was sure hoping this would be cleared up by now because I am really feeling weak!
  13. OK, I have had a stomach ache for 4 days. I have been thinking it was gas but this is ridiculous. It now hurts when I swallow...not my throat but when it gets to my stomach. I have taken sooo many antiacids. I burp like crazy but I can not get the relief I need. Anybody got any help for me?
  14. It sure does happen to for me that way. I am so glad you asked this question but I was wondering the same thing. Whew....maybe it is normal!
  15. I had a hernia repaired when I had the sleeve done and was hoping my burping days were over. Does this get better??? When???? I sure do chew a lot of pepcid and it sounds so rude!:blushing:
  16. I had to do a psych eval and 6 months of counseling and 6 months of a diet under a dr's supervision. That was fun because I could not lose any wt and qualify either. When I went to the Dr to weigh, I wore the heaviest clothes I could find and had my pockets loaded. I have heard of people putting rolls of quarters in their bra too. Part of it is the ins co is hoping you will give up. Keep it up...you'll get there.
  17. I am glad I read this as I have not been losing either. I was wondering if I was doing it all wrong. I was 3 weeks out Tuesday. I weighed 225 at pre op appt and 218 the day of surgery. I now weigh 201.(17 lbs in 3 weeks...not too good) But I have weighed that for a least a week. It is so frustrating. I think I may be eating too many carbs because meat just does not go down well for me yet. I sure hope that gets better. I still do better on thick liquids like cream soups. I have eated the macc and cheese single servings and grits w/ cheese or overlight eggs. I have not started exercising yet but I am supposed to go to my first zumba class today. I am concerned because I feel soooo washed out! I am just pooped! I am taking my B12 everyday and my multivitamins. Help!
  18. I was beginning to wonder if I was ever going to enjoy eating anything again. I will be 3 weeks out Tuesday. Liquids go down well...even thick liquids but anything solid (even a soft solid) gives me a fit. Maybe I am eating too fast still. I don't know. Everything just seems to get stuck.
  19. I don't know what it is that I feel. It is definately not hunger like before but I do get to where I feel something and want to eat. Then I can eat so little that I wonder what was the use in eating. Sometimes what I eat does not seem to stay with me long. I worry sometimes that I got so strung out trying to get in enough protein last week that I developed poor habits of eating all the time. It is better though and I am working on it. It is definately an adjustment trying to figure this all out!
  20. I can not remember why it is that we are not supposed to drink carbonated drinks. I tried a little today and it did not bother me at all.
  21. I talked w my nutritionist today. I told her I was eating or drinking all the time to try to get in 70-80 grams of protein and it was still impossible. She told me to relax that all I really need is 40-50. I had my 1st post op visit w my doctor today and he told me not to worry about it yet. I am soooo glad. It was like another job trying to get the protein in. I feel like I have been stuffing myself!
  22. I started Carnation instant breakfast with organic milk yesterday and that has 14 grams of protein. I have been drinking it hot like hot chocolate and even adding a little marshmellow cream. I have had 1 today and intend to get in one more before bedtime. That will make 58 grams for the day. That is the best day I have had so far.
  23. I will be 2 weeks post op tomorrow and I have yet to get in enough protein. I feel like I have to eat and drink all the time to get in the 37 I have in for the day so far. How is everyone else doing and should I be worried?
  24. Wow that is good. I have not gotten in that much protein yet. Today is the best I have done and so far I have only gotten in 38 grams. I feel like I have to try to eat all the time to get it in. Am I the only one not getting enought protein?
  25. Can't wait to see an answer. I am on full liquids and I get full really fast.
