  1. Wow that sounds scary! I've had similar situations several times with other surgeries so I definitely know how that feels. I'm glad you are ok however. Congrats on your new sleeve!! May you lose to your goal safely and with much health!!
  2. Before I could swallow whole pills I was using Bariatric Advantage Calcium Citrate Lozenges. Now I just bought a two pack bottle from Costco for dirt cheap! Comparable to Citracal. One pill 2x per day should work, maybe 3 sometimes if I'm getting those darn leg cramps.
  3. Using less pain medications, and moving the muscles around the area of the incision while healing will flare them up and make the pain/soreness more noticeable. I'm sure you're just fine, just keep a good eye on it. If you notice it getting really bad, or look out for any fevers - other than that it's pretty normal. Congrats on your new sleeve!!!
  4. Holly, The quickest way for me to want to prove to someone I can do something is when someone tells me I CAN'T. Let me explain. Two years ago I was scheduled to have 2 knee surgeries. The reason was because I was extremely overweight and I loved to walk. Just like you. I was told I couldn't walk anymore because I'd completely abused my knees to the point of causing arthritis, to try other things... and I myself was only about 36 years old. So here's what I did instead. 1. I cancelled my knee surgeries. 2. I scheduled myself to have my Lap Band removed and replace it with a VSG. 3. I let myself recover slowly but surely. 4. I did other workouts to help me continue to lose more weight. 5. Once I got to a certain weight, I started walking again. 6. I continued to lose, and I continued to walk. 7. I signed up for my first 5K running event. 8. I ran that 5K, from start to finish. Today I have ZERO knee pain, and I didn't even ever need to reschedule my knee surgeries. Do NOT lose hope in that you will never run a 5k, 10k, Half Marathon, or a Marathon. NEVER IS NOT IN YOUR VOCABULARY. Now, dust yourself off and keep doing what I know you can do, and that is keep working to be a better, more fit and healthy you.
  5. Yayyy!!! Sounds like you're doing great. Enjoy your egg! It was my first real semi-solid food, and seriously I've been hooked ever since. I pretty much eat them daily (about 4 real eggs per week, rest egg beaters).
  6. I could NOT agree more!!! And I'm going to pin this up for all to see.
  7. That's great on your first 5K!!! Just an alternate point of view... for myself I really had to learn to get out of the "Eating out to celebrate" mentality. It was just an excuse to eat things I shouldn't otherwise, especially during weight loss mode. I'm not saying we never go out to eat because we do, it's not meant in the reward capacity. Perhaps you can celebrate without it being revolving around food? Perhaps you two can spend the night in a lovely Hotel or maybe go to a spa together? All the best either way!
  8. LOL!!! This guy is full of comedy! I do my workouts on my own every single day, 6 days per week. I workout hard too, to the point I almost want to throw up sometimes. I am able to push my body to the limits, and I don't need no one else to get me there. Let alone some crazy man telling me lies and trying to charge me a mortgage payment to do it. Yikes. Run away fast!! I agree with Rootman, try it on your own, you and your Husband. I think you two can work together to train. If you have to watch some DVD's and pick up on how the trainer talks to you, motivates you... then try that on each other at the gym.
  9. Aww darn! Well, I gues I SOL. I have a 36f oversewn to more like a 32f.
  10. I dealt with not seeing the new and true me for a long time. Then I started making side by side photos of me, like the one you see in my signature line. I can't say how much this helps to train my brain that I am no longer that fat girl. I don't even see her in the mirror anymore. I think the only last thing I need to get over is realizing that I CAN fit into some tiny clothes. I mostly always think it won't fit and it does. That will come with more time I guess.
  11. Absolutely nothing wrong with mixing supplements with solid meals in the first stages. I did this for the first 4 months post op, and I'm super healthy AND at goal. You're quite lucky you have found something you completely enjoy... so do that - enjoy it! Blessings.
  12. I am desperately trying to research this little Devil known as food Cravings - AKA Head Hunger. Man, it sucks sometimes!! Especially being a woman, and TOM... it will throw me off track faster than a tiny rock in front of a train. I'm finding I have been thinking deep about a certain craving I'll have and wondering what it all means. Why am I craving a certain food, when and how? I'm starting to realize that perhaps our bodies really tell us something when we are craving healthier versions of food. Such as, I'd been craving a lot of beef in the last month or so. Be honest, I've never really been a huge fan of it, but just lately I can't seem to get enough. I began to wonder if maybe my Iron might have been too low. I've battled anemia my whole life, and I did notice a lot of fatigue lately. That's not really like me, really, and considering I can only consume so much food at one time it was a great possibility. Well with my last panel come to find out that absolutely yes, my iron WAS below normal. I was always able to keep it around borderline or just above. This time it WAS below the marker. So, it's true or maybe I'm imagining it that the craving for beef was my brain telling me I needed to up my iron. It makes perfect sense to me. However... what about chocolate or sugar cravings? Do our bodies ever really require chocolate? Yes, our bodies DO need sugar - not nearly as much as we might consume, but we do need it. I'm positive I probably STILL eat more than I need, so why do I crave more? This article really goes in depth with that subject, and just as I'd suspected for the longest time... our bodies absolutely DO become addicted to it, just like a drug addict. It fills our brains with dopamine and triggers that euphoric response. What to do? We MUST eat sugar, we NEED it. Ugghhh... anyway, I'm just tinkering with all of this knowledge to better help understand my brain, body and all it's chemical functions. I'm hopeful that with all this knowing, it can possibly help me to better avoid giving in to those demands. *lol* http://tlc.howstuffw...ood-craving.htm ETA: It also stinks that men have an advantage over us ladies when it comes to this. They have far less instances of this!! If I ever wanted to be a man, this would be the ONLY reason.
  13. I was revised from Lap Band to VSG on 9/15/2010. I lost to my goal in 10.5 months and have been maintaining ever since. The Lap Band was a failed experiment for me, and I too am addicted to food. It can be done, and for me the VSG was a far greater tool than the Lap Band. *Hugs* There is hope out there!!
  14. Hi Tonya, welcome! Having food distaste post op is really normal. I had it too. Though, today my taste buds are back to normal, thank goodness. I'm glad to hear though you have been able to find some Protein supplements that you do like. Lots find that difficult post op. Just keep hanging in there! This time next year will be a whole new you!
  15. Hiya Joni! Welcome to the board! Listen, if I can do it - you can do it. I'm the worst when it comes to dieting (food) but I look toward what I'm good at. Such as maintaining my workouts and getting to basics when I really need to. I made it! You will too. You are especially fortunate too that you have a live in coach! That is so awesome. Cheers to both you and your hubby.
  16. Welcome to posting eazye!! I'm sure you'll really do fantastic with your new tool, when you get it. I love mine and thank GOD daily for it!!
  17. Prayers going out to both of you!! No worries, this surgery may be tough but any one of us are tougher. Just putting that first step forward to ask your PCP about the surgery shows that. *hugs* On this day next year, no one will even recognize you as the same person.
  18. Congrats on your new tiny tummy!! Don't worry, feeling nausea and/or vomiting post op is really quite normal. I did both and though it wasn't fun, it did pass. Today, I'm a whole new person!! Can't say enough about it. Get your rest and do your best to sip tiny and get up and walk whenever you can. Xoxo
  19. I chose to go small with plastics at first too, though our reasons are different - still it's ok to space it out. Do the most important to you right now, and believe me it will help you a great deal mentally. It has helped me to accept the rest of my imperfections and ultimately I am extremely happy today. I do want to have more done down the line, but I'm not totally depressed when looking in the mirror anymore. I'm also not constantly counting on it happening in the near future and don't even really think about it. It's a really nice feeling.
  20. Catracks, yes, little seeds are thought to perhaps get caught in the incision line. It's always better to wait to eat them for a few months out. Being you are two months, I'm sure you're fine.
  21. I swallow seeds accidently sometimes, and I've never had any issues to date. The tiny seeds are an issue in the first few months but pretty much after that you are good to go. HTH BTW.. Love Pomegramate!!
  22. Please let us know how you're doing once you place the call to your Dr. I do hope all is well with you!! Xoxo
  23. Wonderful!!! When I was losing it was always getting tinier clothes that I celebrated the most. You're doing fabulous things lady!
  24. Yayyy!!! I'm glad it's working for you! It's perfectly ok to weight every day. I have been in the last week as I'm trying really hard to get my mind right before I get way off track and it helps. It's just really important to note that if it seems to ruin your whole day, and go off the deep end when you don't see a loss every single day, then it's not a good thing. It is all in the mindset. Keep up the good work!!
