I'm on the Road to Onederland!! Who's with me?
Oh boy I hope so!!! Kathy it took me 6 weeks to get out of the 230's. I went back and checked... I know I can definitely do better than that. But I changed my eating habits, started logging and making sure I'm getting all my workouts in. I've lost 5 Lbs in the last 5 days!!! Good luck!
-
how many times a day do you eat?
I eat 3 well balanced meals per day - and on my workout days I'll add in one Protein shake (EAS CarbAdvantage RTD) after my morning workout, and one serving of peanuts in the evening. I'm going to add some other hi protein Snacks for the evening as I'm going grocery shopping tonight. I'm going to buy some beef Jerky, greek yogurt, pistachios - things like that. It works for me! I'm never able to finish my regular meals. I never ever get seconds and I don't really time myself but it takes me about 30 minutes to eat. Once I notice I'm beginning to feel full I'll take a break for about 10 minutes then finish the rest of the protein on my plate. I'd say my breakdown is about 50% Protein, 25% Fat and 25% Carbs. I also drink about 100 oz of Water per day.

Extreme Pigout
I totally didn't see this thread before starting the other one. However it's kinda on the same lines, but a bit different. This is about eating and way over indulging. The Man vs. food show is so disgusting and I want to vomit when I happen to see it's on. I honestly can not figure out why he isn't 500+ lbs eating like that. He must burn 10,000 calories per day to be able to stay at his current weight, which honestly he can stand to lose some. Not only that, the quality of food he's eating... he's gotta be only a blink away from a stroke or heart attack... so gross!!! I'm personally not, I'd say, disgusted with seeing super or morbidly obese people. I'm more along the line of feeling sympathy for them. I'm so wishing I could just walk right up to them, hug them and say "there is hope for you!!!" That would be incredibly rude though, and I wouldn't dare, but still... The response would always be, "well, i'd never cut my stomach out!!!" Really though, that sort of lifestyle is way more dangerous than having surgery will ever be. I can only hope that someday they get fed up and say enough's enough. That's what I did. I have set a recording for the Extreme Eating show!! That does look very interesting. I'm also so very fascinated by certain addictions. I like the show about weird addictions too... like the one coming up where this lady is addicted to eating pillow cushions... I mean... really???

Weight Watchers...HUH??
For the record Weight Watchers is now promoting a low carb diet. The old system did not take this into account - however it *still* works if you follow the system 100%. And I totally agree with drama - don't post about your WLS on the forums there. If they only knew though how wonderfully this nutrition tool works with our restriction tool... they'd be sorry they waiting so long to do it!!! LOL It will take a lot of work, time, patience... but IT DOES WORK. I'm telling you, since I started counting my points again I've already lost 5 pounds. I've only been tracking for 5 days... so - yes, it's possible if you work it. I'm over four months out now and it's definitely not as easy to lose as it was in the first two months. So I know I'm on the right track.

Weight Loss & Obesity related TV Shows
I've noticed that I have really picked up with being interested in Weight Loss & Obesity related Television programming. Once I see something that I notice is going to be about these subjects, I set my DVR to record them. I'll even set a Series Recording to catch any repeats I may have missed coming into the show late. I find these topics absolutely fascinating, and I look to them for inspiration! I see folks weighing up to 400+ Lbs working out and working hard to lose the weight. I love this, and I laugh, I cry and feel their pain with them. For only someone who has been in their shoes can. Here's a list of shows I'm currently viewing: Biggest Loser: http://www.nbc.com/the-biggest-loser/ Most definitely and I've been watching this show since day one. Yes, absolutely they do certain things on the show to boost the ratings and Jillian is a monster. However, I do not watch the show for those reasons at all. In fact I usually turn their 2 hour show into more of a 1 hour viewing. I FF so much of the craziness and things that do not interest me. I do love watching them struggle with eating, working out so hard and of course the weigh in. The finale and seeing how far they have come at the end of the show is so incredible and touching. I never miss these. I Used to be Fat: http://www.mtv.com/s...at/series.jhtml This is a relatively new show and I've found it is such a positive approach to how hard and difficult life is being obese. Young individuals strive for a few months to lose a certain amount of weight. This show is what inspired me to write down every single day exactly how many days are left to reach my mini goal I set for myself to my goal day. I do not believe I would've come up with this all on my own. I can't say enough about this kind of programming and how much these folks I do not even know have helped "ME" along the way!! Ruby: http://www.mystyle.c.../ruby/index.jsp This is probably the most heartwarming, touching and REAL show I've ever come accross. Ruby is the most inspirational weight loss person I know. She's not perfect - she struggles so much, yet she keeps picking herself back up and keeping on!! I think I look up to her so much, and every single time I feel like I'm failing and wondering why do I keep trying, I simply think about her. She started out at over 700 Lbs!!! I do believe in the last season finale she was down to the low 300's. Her new season begins in March, but it does mention she gained 60 Lbs back. Yet, she still decided to continue with her Television show and keep on keeping on!! She's so totally amazing and awesome, and just a genuine sweet lady. Heavy: http://www.aetv.com/...esity%20surgery This is going to be a new Television program and my DVR is set!!! One Big Happy Family: http://tlc.discovery...g-happy-family/ I haven't seen this show around in awhile, and I do hope it comes back soon. It follows around a Mother, Father and their son and daughter as the entire family works to shed the weight. I really liked it. They were doing so well the last time I seen it. Brookhaven Obesity Clinic: (Sorry couldn't find a link) I also haven't seen this one in a very long time. These folks were in a live in Hospital where they needed to lose anywhere from 300 to so many pounds. These folks, some struggled a lot even in the hospital and yet some worked really hard to lose the weight. I miss this one! Big Medicine: http://health.discov...g-medicine.html Oh how I wish this show would come back!! It just wasn't around nearly long enough - and I truly enjoyed watching the WLS patients and their journeys. Even to the point where they would need plastic surgery once they were complete to their goals. Come back!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Do you have any that you watch?? Please share it here - I'd really like to find some more shows that I can watch... for maybe this is my transfer addiction!!! LOL Ok not that, but you know what? I'm really finding some motivation with watching these programs. I need all the motivation I can get!!!

Valentine's Day... What Will You Weigh???
YAY CONGRATS MRSK!!!! Here's to the next 10 - and even if you don't get it you always had your original goal - so cheers!!! No way don't change it!! Let that be a motivator to definitely get to the gym!! You know what I did - I knew I did a 15 Lbs goal for 6 weeks. I started to already fall a little behind so I took my wall calendar, picked up a red sharpie and wrote on each square exactly how many days are left. So todays date says "29". On the side where there is a "notes" section I wrote my weigh in dates and next to it I have a tally of how many pounds I have left to lose for the challenge on those dates. Well, when I noticed I was getting behind I decided I needed to pick up somehow. That's when I signed up for WW Online (again). I also have this goal logged into my Wii Fit Plus game. As of today the icon told me if I continue on my current pace I will make my goal in time!!!! Yeah!!! Not only that I have a Wall Calendar in my workout room too now. I have my workout routine posted right underneath and on my wall calendar I mark a "check" that I completed my workout!! I'm all set - and you know what, it is working!!! We'll see how long this will hold out... I hope it's for a loooong time!!!

4 Months Post Op -- So far so good!!!
Thank you all so much !!!!! You are all such sweet ladies!!! You know, sometimes I really have to remember that the scale is not the be all end all in our journey. I went through it for a minute and was tripping over the scale because it was being so stubborn for weeks... but yes - I have compared this months pics with last months and there is a good difference. I just have to trust in the system and my sleeve - and most of all MYSELF!!! I did need to make some adjustments and I do believe I have found the problems and I'm working on them as we speak. Today was my weigh in day with my Wii. It said I'm 230 exactly now. It usually registers a pound or two heavier than my Taylor scale - but because I do my weigh-in in the evening. I'm always up a pound or two by the night. I do not consider this an official weigh in - I just like to use it as a second reference and a pre-cursor to my Wednesday weigh-in. Also to know if I need to work harder for the next few days. It said I'm down 4 Lbs since my last Sunday weigh-in... so hooooorayyyy!!! Rock on sisters!!!!

The Official What You Will Need For Your Upcoming Weightloss Surgery Thread!
Pretty much many of the things listed here will be helpful to you at home too. One thing I would concentrate on however is making sure you have all of your Clear liquids and full liquids available and ready to go. I would personally choose to order the individual samples so you won't be stuck with huge tubs of Protein supplements that you may not like post surgery. My tastebuds were really off whack and though I liked some pre surgery I really couldn't stand them after. However your tastebuds do return and if you buy something you know you liked in the past you may like it again someday after.

Weight Watchers...HUH??
Hi Bema, a point will average out to approx 50 calories. So whatever you are choosing to base you MAXIMUM calorie level at, divide by 50. So your points per day for 1,500 Calories would be 30. I hope this helps!

The good thing about being a slow loser

Weight Watchers...HUH??
WW is very WLS sleeve friendly. I even had a lot of success with it with my Lap Band. No way can I eat the points it suggests so I place my maximum daily points to 24 - which is a maximum of 1200 calories per day. Pre-ops I really don't know because I never used the system before any of my surgeries. You have to really make sure you are being 100% honest with what you are eating and how you are preparing your food. You have to account for every little thing, even if you are cooking and eating with olive oils - everything. The points do add up when you do this. It's super important. Weighing and measuring all your food too - you will see the points go fast. Also, I just tweak the system to fit my personal life. There is no law saying you can't so I do. It would be simply impossible for me to eat up all the points they suggest. Remember too, this is a paid service and the longer they can keep you on it, the more money they make. So, if you choose to continue this program just make it work for you. It's really good at tracking all corners of a healthy eating and fitness lifestyle and I really love it!! :-) Just my two cents... If not I really highly suggest the true Atkins Diet -or- the South Beach Diet. Try to find a copy of the books, at your library or wherever. You WILL lose a lot of weight with that. Good luck!!!
