Salsa
I just made a batch using canned chopped tomato's - yuck! I HAVE to get some fresh ones. Basics: I used lime pepper (didnt have any real ones) and the lime pepper is from when I make my tilapia fish. I also used red onion, jalapeno, onion powder & black pepper, oh - and cilantro. The cilantro is sweet, right? What kind of onion do you use? ((different onions give different flavors, thats why I ask))

Estela, do you ever use lemon juice? Ive noticed that many of the other receipes on here have lemon juice instead of lime. Oh - and do you use fresh tomatos?

American Idol
Am I the only one that thinks Chris Daughtry (sp?) sounds like he's screaming when he sings? I know thats -his- thing, but I expected Simon to gig him on it. Very easy to look at though - definatly original. For the girls, I like Katherine and Paris too. Just like you said Kathy - they should be good, its in their genes. Prediction: those girls will be the final 2 .

Weight loss succes factors - our own study
Scott, Ive taken diet pills approximately three time now since banding. Im at a point where my fill doesnt help my appetite very often nor do I feel a big restriction. :couch2: sad to say this.

Weight loss succes factors - our own study
1. Weight when banded (in pounds, if you'd rather not disclose then reply via private email to me) 2. Study duration (between 6 and 12 months) 3. Percentage of meals where you drank during the meal or within 1 hour after the meal 4. Average minutes per week you exercised during the study period 5. Number of fills you received during the study period 6. Regularly used diet drugs during your study period (yes/no)? 7. Race (race showed as a significant success factor in the initial FDA trials for lap-band surgery, leave blank if you object to testing this factor) 8. Weight loss during the study period (in pounds) The reply format should be "315 pounds, 12 months, 25%, 60 minutes, 7 fills, no diet drugs, hispanic, 65 pounds lost". ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 249, 10 months (havent lost any additional weight since this period), 25%, very little, 2 fills, #6 - maybe a total of 2 months during this time frame, cauc, 65 pounds lost in 10 months.

Hey Paula!
You've been in Houston all this time? :couch2: didnt know that. I hear the Katrina population is overwhelming over there. Lots of evacuee's now call that place home. ...and Mardi Gras is THIS weekend. You're actually leaving at a good time.

Hey Paula!
Hey Maw L - isnt it past your bedtime? LOL FYI(only for you mom): The term "Sucking the Heads" is only able to be done when the crawfish are boiled. You break the tail away from the body and the flavors from the boil are inside the head part... along with the guts and everything else. Sounds gross, but its really good. (honestly, it is) Its really REALLY good if you have a 6-pack of specific beverages already downed before you start eating. :biggrin1: etoufee ~ how'd you know that one?

American Idol
Janet, It was the double mint twin that left and the other girl, tall/very thin with the high squeaky voice. Something about her made me think geisha. I dunno. And the 2 men to leave were Cococabanna singer - Bobby; and the other one was the guy that sang the Melissa Etheridge song... forgot his name. (Im not a big help if you knew their names - sorry. I only knew A C E...........) Brenna - the nasty New York girl, gets on my nerves too. And so does Kelly Pickler.

Hey Paula!
FRIED crawfish? my mouth is watering - literally. Its been YEARS since Ive had crawfish fried. Ever made a (cant spell this french stuff) e' to fe' with em? yumyum (its a tomato gravy base served over rice) Do you buy the frozen crawfish in the grocery? I can send you some mouth tingling authentic cajun receipes for crawfish things. Oh, and Leatha and Kathy ~ you two are down right nasty. You know Betty does'nt suck the heads!

Eating Better
Cynthia, I cant offer anything other then: eat protien first, veggie's second, other things last. Eat scheduled meals, and no snacking in between. So boring, huh? I know, thats why Im having a heck of a time doing it myself. I really need to get back on the right track too. Thanks for the wake up call. Maybe we can help each other somehow.

In Perspective...BLESSINGS
This post is a breath of fresh air. I live in the midst of Hurricane Rita's aftermath. Lots of FEMA trailers, tons of blue roofs (5 months post storm) still needing to be replaced, many buildings are 1/2 way bown down (waiting for insurance to do their thing)..... so, I take this post very serious.

Eating salad??
I second you on this. The greenier the leaf - the better it is for our body(more vit's). Iceberg is -also- very hard to digest.

Salsa
Jack, are you still prying??? We're waiting. Sarah, we have a "Krogers' - I think Im gonna make a special trip there this afternoon. Rojo's Resturant.... Ill let you know if I find it. Shelly, Mandy and Rene - THANK YOU! Those receipes seem pretty basic. Rene, you are right, with the basics I can just play around with it till I get it the way I like it. ((I LOVE onions, purple onions - chopped fine.)) Mandy, you use the canned tomato's? I love you girl. Kathy, you MUST try Chilie's chips and salsa (do they even have a Chilie's in Charlotte?)!!! You'll see that Pace brand is so... blah ! Kelly, after I read your post - it made me think about the local latino food store. I know the people that own it - I bet THEY could give me some yummy ideas on salsa. clevergrl, thanks for the response! I havent tried those places. Dont have em' in my small town. CHOW magazine? now thats something I CAN find. One problem regarding the restuarant salsa ~ too much salt/sodium! Another reason I want to try a home version.
